In order to keep up with the National Library of Korea’s rapid growth, large volume of visitors and long hours of operation, it is important that they efficiently handle the wastewater produced within the building on a daily basis. In total, five Zoeller package systems handle the wastewater and effluent discharged from the library and the book café. Four sewage systems from Zoeller are maintained throughout the library to pump all wastewater from the building’s restrooms to the city sewer system. In addition, since discharge piping was not present in the foundation of the building where they built the library’s book café, a drain pump was installed to gather and discharge all waste from the sinks to the external systems.

The Le Loi Hospital consists of a clinic, an emergency room, and a labor room. The hospital utilizes a small wastewater treatment system for all discharged waste from the buildings. All sewage from the laundry room, three bathrooms, and other facilities flows directly to buried tanks for primary treatment throughout the facility. Three Zoeller effluent pumps have been installed at this site to transport effluent. Zoeller pumps move the screened effluent from the tanks to the secondary and tertiary stages of the treatment system for additional treatment prior to discharge.

It is likely in this type of location that gasoline may drip onto the ground around the filling stations and would then be washed into the pump pits by rainfall. This can create a hazardous environment, which requires a hazardous duty pump to remove water from the building’s foundation. Three of

Zoeller’s hazardous duty, submersible effluent pumps were installed at a gas station in Taipei in order to collect and pump rainwater to the city’s sewer system. As the only hazardous duty pumps of this type on the market, pumps of this model are fully automatic with a copper float, meaning they require no control panel and keep maintenance and system costs to a minimum. The pumps provide the gas station owner with the peace of mind that comes with every Zoeller product.

Lucas Oil Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium which is well-known as the home field of the Indianapolis Colts and the host stadium of Super Bowl XLIV. It has a seating capacity of 62,241 for football games and can exceed 70,000 people in its basketball configuration. Since the field is positioned below street level, wastewater from upper levels can gravity-flow to the city mains, but sewage from the lower-level restrooms must be pumped for removal. In addition to the lift stations handling wastewater, storm water lift stations were installed on each side of the field and around the stadium to quickly remove rain water in the event that the dome is open during rainfall.

In 2014, Honda de México S.A. de C.V. announced it would begin building a facility measuring 5.66 million square meters in Mexico to manufacture subcompact vehicles for the North American market. As it is projected to produce 200,000 units per year and employ approximately 3,200 people, the company has installed 13 duplex grinder lift stations around the facility to handle all of the discharged wastewater from the plant. Each lift station contains two Zoeller grinder pumps, which will provide high flow and superior cutting action to accommodate the harsh environment of the manufacturing building. The pumps are also installed on Zoeller’s Z-Rail systems, allowing for easy disconnect and removal for regular maintenance and inspection.

Brisas del Lago is a gated community with about 225 residential homes. Since the community is responsible for its own water and waste, all wastewater from the homes is discharged to the community’s wastewater treatment plant, which utilizes a Zoeller model 6295 in the first stage and a model 61 HD in the second stage of the process. In addition, F&W 4” submersible well pumps were installed to supply potable water to each home.

Zoeller Company’s distributor in South Africa has partnered with another South African company to create a “self-contained sanitation unit” utilizing Clarus Environmental’s Fusion® wastewater treatment technology. This mobile bathroom unit consists of showers, sinks and toilets. The effluent from these amenities is treated and partially recycled onsite for the toilet flushing process. The system has the flexibility to be solar-powered or plugged in electrically, allowing for a multitude of possible applications. In South Africa, these units will be utilized to provide clean, low-maintenance facilities for “informal housing developments”.

El Secreto is a luxury resort, located on the coast of the Caribbean, which offers 13 exclusive thatched-roof villas for an intimate vacation experience. One of their many water features includes a saltwater lake along the patios of the villas where guests reside. In order to provide the best watertight seal and keep a clean appearance, an EPDM liner from Clarus Environmental was custom-fitted to the area. In addition, Zoeller employees also visited the resort to provide onsite support and hands-on installation training.

In standard septic systems with underground, gravity-fed soil absorption, the even distribution of wastewater across the drain field is difficult to achieve due to several factors. Though several attempts have been made to correct this issue, without a perfectly level distribution device, responsible inspection, and careful burial, all effluent would flow to only one lateral. With the installation of a Tru-Flow® Splitter System, even distribution was accomplished among the various outlets despite the lack of a perfectly-level installation due to soil coverage and settling. The inspection port, level, and movable tray allow the flow-splitting device to be adjusted after burial.

Flint & Walling was founded in 1866 in Kendallville, Indiana USA. Upon establishment, the company built hand-operated water pumps and the Flint & Walling windmill, a revolutionary product that quickly spanned the globe. Today, as the only US pump company to manufacture its own motor for well, jet, and centrifugal pumps, F&W has become known for superior quality and highly efficient products. The product line includes deep well pumps that range from 5 GPM to 1,000 GPM (1 m³/hr to 227 m³/hr), as well as centrifugal, jet, booster, and submersible pumps up to 7½ HP. In addition, Flint & Walling produces pre-packaged skid systems and artesian drive systems.

Many apartment buildings in El Salvador run on limited water supply, often shutting off service during night-time hours for conservation. An employee of Zoeller’s local distributor put F&W’s products to the test in his own building with great success. The pre-existing 5 HP pump was shut off completely, and a 1 HP Flint & Walling submersible pump was installed beside it to take over. With the new pump in place, the system now runs at the same pressure (60 psi) generated by the larger pump and utilizes the pre-existing tanks and control panel. The building’s maintenance staff reports they have experienced 35% savings in energy costs as a result of this replacement.

Founded in 1952, Wolf Pump is a manufacturer of submersible turbine pumps located in Abernathy, Texas, USA. Wolf produces 4” to 8” diameter submersible turbine pumps with capacities ranging from 35 to 1,000 GPM (7.9 to 227 m3/hr), and they are able to completely customize the materials and number of stages in each pump to meet the exact needs of a given application. These pumps are known for their efficiency and durability in demanding water applications including irrigation, municipal water supplies, dewatering applications, dairy production, mining, the oil and gas industries, aquaculture, and more.

Oceanographer Robert Ballard led the first expedition to discover a shipwreck below 200’ (60 m) in 1997. This journey uncovered several ancient Roman ships full of well-preserved artifacts dating back as far as 200 B.C. on the floor of the Mediterranean Sea in ancient Carthage. In order to clear the debris field for this mission, Wolf Pump worked with a local company to design a system with a Teflon-fitted pump and a submersible motor to operate at more than 3,000’ (914 m) below water. This system provided a clear view of the ocean floor for the workers and allowed them to explore without damaging the uncovered artifacts.
