Directions for Flip-Flap Books and Lapbook •  The tri-fold Flip-Flap Book “I Can Help the Earth” and the small

Vocabulary Accordion Books are double-sided books.

•  For best results, make a MASTER COPY of these printables on your Home Printer FIRST.

•  Print the first side of the book. Then REFEED that page into your printer to print the back side of the book. This will allow you to fold the booklet correctly on the lines.

•  This may take a few tries depending on how your printer feeds the paper. Once you get the hang of it, it will be smooth sailing.

•  After your Master Printable is printed, use your photocopy machine to make front-to-back copies for your class.

•  You must supply your students with a File Folder to adhere their Flip-Flap books to. Or, you can have your students use these flip-flap books in their Science Notebooks.

1.  First cut out the square.

2.  Fold the square in half both ways so it is a tight fold. Fold it front ways and back ways.

3.  Then fold on 1 diagonal ONLY. There is a slight gray line to show you where to fold on the diagonal. Then fold on the diagonal the other way so it’s a tight fold. When you open it up you see 2 Full Squares and 2 Squares that have folded triangles in them. So it looks like this…

4.  Then fold the triangles IN like this:

5.  The FULL squares will be on the top and the bottom.!

6.  Once you get the hang of folding them, it’s a piece of cake !

Earth Shape Flip-Flap Book

•  Photocopy each page of the flip-flap book for your students.

•  Have them complete the writing and coloring before assembling it.

•  After the writing and coloring is completed, have the students cut around each letter.

•  When all letters are cut out, staple the left side of the Flip-Flap Book and adhere to the lapbook.
