Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time November 11, 2018

The number of priests per Catholic has declined over the past 40 years. This makes it more difficult for individual parishioners to establish a close relationship with any one particular priest. Furthermore, priests are no longer the only ones who offer pastoral care to our people. Yet without a priest, no parish is able to be a Eucharistic community. It is important to reaffirm the importance of the priesthood of Jesus Christ

Almighty and merciful God, graciously keep from us all

Prayer request for our Confirmation Candidates

Each week we invite our parish family to pray for our Confirmation candidates who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Our faith teaches us that we are called to walk with our brothers and sisters who find themselves on the margins of society and to empower them to bring about change in their communities. If you can support the Catholic Campaign for Human Development on November 18th, you are helping people living in poverty have a say in the decisions that affect their lives. And remember, 25% of funds collected remain in our diocese.

The Disch-DeClouet Social Service Center has provided assistance in the month of September 2018 as follows:

• Food: 351 families • Clothing: 77 families • Milk fund: 47 families received 276 gallons of milk • Prayer & Counseling: 442 persons • $1,460 in housing assistance to 41 families • $12,819 in utility assistance to 394 families • $1,493 in other financial assistance including diapers, bus tickets, burial assistance, I.D.'s, etc

In the month of September 2018, 1,236 persons in 458 families were helped in some way at the Disch-DeClouet Social Service Center.. Year to date, clients have received $114,995 in financial assistance. This does not include the value of donated items of food, clothing and other items.. Thank you for your prayers and financial support. It is truly needed and greatly appreciated. God bless you.

Recently a husband and father of two children who is trying to upgrade his skills by attending truck driving school came to the Disch-DeClouet Social Service Center. The family is trying to live on the wife’s salary of

about $900 a month while he is in school, but from time to time they need a little help. This month we were able to help them with milk for the children, food and their electric bill. We also provided him with tips on reducing his bill and finding other resources in the community. He

was extremely grateful for the help and support.

Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up. Gal. 6:9

Our total contributions to the Disch DeClouet Social Service Center from January 1 through September 30 is: $2,191.02
