Subject: Creating an RDP Shortcut

This Help Note describes how to create the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) shortcut enabling connection to TheraManager in the cloud.

Instructions for Windows computers starts on page 6.

Instructions for Macs starts immediately below. Creating the RDP Shortcut for a Mac

To install and configure the Microsoft Remote Desktop client app:

1. Go to the Apple Store and search for Microsoft Remote Desktop 10. The Version 10 icon is marked by a red circle*:

Follow the prompts to get and install the app.

2. Double-click to open the app.

*A minimum of OS X version 10.13 is required. Do not download Microsoft Remote Desktop 8, which is

represented by a red square:

Click down arrow; select Desktop

Enter your user name (of the form theramanager\xyz1) + password + friendly name (e.g., TMCloud)

Creating the RDP Shortcut for a Windows Computer

1. Within the search engine to the right of the Start button:

Leave unchecked – credential saving is disabled for TheraManager in the cloud

1. The PC Name (Mac) or Computer name (Windows) to be entered is as follows. Entry is case-sensitive:

2. To delete unneeded user accounts:

a. From the Microsoft Remote Desktop, click the down arrow next to the gear, then select Preferences…:

Enter cloud password (Note 4)

b. Within Preferences, select the user account to be deleted, then click the − icon:

3. [RECOMMENDED] Once you have saved the shortcut to your local desktop, pin it to your Start menu and Windows taskbar.

4. Secure and effective management of your passwords (not just regarding TheraManager!) is a critical aspect of your practice’s compliance with HIPAA. If you forget your password AND:

• You share an RDP login with other users in the practice Request the password from another user

• You do not share your RDP login with anyone else Contact TheraManager LLC customer support, who will generate a new password for you

5. If you still cannot connect after entering the computer name and password :

• Restart your computer

• Clear (“flush”) your DNS cache. Refer to http://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html for background
