Common Core – Is more than content that tells kids stuff...

... it guides us to “do” things.

To be ready for college, workforce training, and life in a technological society, students need the ability to gather, comprehend, evaluate, synthesize, and report on information and ideas, to

conduct original research in order to answer questions or solve problems, and to analyze and create a high

volume and extensive range of print and nonprint texts in media forms old and new. The need to conduct research and to produce and consume media is embedded into every aspect of today’s curriculum. In like fashion,

research and media skills and understandings are embedded throughout the Standards rather than treated in a separate section.

Common Core - Digital research & media skills blended in as a whole

Educator Buzz

Larry Ferlazzo (CA) – Best Web 2.0 tools in Ed, 2012Themeefy lets you grab pretty much anything youWant of the web, add your own materials, to create a personalized magazine that can be shared/embedded wherever you want. It looks pretty neat and simple.

Carli Spina (Boston)A fun tool for teachers & librarians who are teaching students about curation and guiding them through the process of collecting reliable sources & giving proper attribution. The final layout of Themeefy collections is likely to be far more engaging for students than many of the other available curation tools

@MBritt (NY)Can’t wait to try out Themeefy. Looks like a cool way for students to create projects.
