Hamilton, Ontario: It was on April 20, 2010 thatthe wolrd learned about the explosion and fireon Transoceans Limited’s drilling rig DeepHorizon which was licensed to BP where 11workers were killed. The rig was drilling inBP’s Macondo project 42 miles southeast ofVenice, Louisiana, beneath 5,000 feet of waterand 13,000 feet under the seabed.

On April 22, 2010 the Deepwater

Horizon rig, valued at more thna $560,000,000.sank an a 5-mile oil slick started to form.

On April 29, President Obama pledged“every single available resource," including theU.S. military, to contain the spreading spill andsays BP is responsible for the clean-up.

It is now June 28, 69 days since the fireand explosion on the Deep Horizon and stillthousands and thousands of barrels of oil andother pollutants are spewing into the Gulf ofMexico.

Now, the formation of a hurricane in theGulf is threatening the cleanup operations.

The tropical storm plowing across thefar side of the Gulf of Mexico could send oilskimmers back to port and make containmentbooms useless, even from some 500 miles away.But the rough weather also might give nature ahand in breaking down crude from the massiveoil spill.

Forecasters expect Alex to grow tohurricane strength later today, June 28, over thesouthwestern Gulf on track for the Texas-Mexico border region and away from the oilspill area off Louisiana. But it will blow wavesand stormy winds all the way to the open Gulf,where BP PLC is working to cap and contain theoil, and the coastal waters tinged with crude.

Even though BP has agreed to set up a$20 billion fund for damage claims from the

spill, suspends dividend payments toshareholders and says it will pay $100 million toworkers idled by the six-month moratorium ondeep-sea drilling.

There are experts who are nowforecasting that the BP oil spill may very welllast until December, while others are painting avery grim and horrifying picture that the oil spillin Gulf of Mexico could cause ‘dead zone’,further hitting sea life.

High concentrations of methane gas - insome cases approaching 1m times the normallevel - have been found around the BP oil spill,raising fears it could create an oxygen-depleted“dead zone” where marine life cannot survive.

Dead zones are areas in the water wherealgae blooms as it feeds on nutrients in highconcentrations of foreign matter, such asmethane, in this case, or, more typically, thecomponents of farmland fertiliser runoff intothe water. The algae gorge, reproduce quicklyand then, in turn, are eaten by bacteria in aprocess that depletes the immediate area ofoxygen. Fish and other sea life cannot survive inthese zones, leading scientists to call them“dead”.

That the spill could cause a dead zone inthe Gulf would be yet another negative for theenvironment, already suffering from the(Continued on Page 2)

destruction of marine nurseries and bird nestinggrounds in the wetlands and projections ofnegative impacts on sea life along the GulfCoast. The knock-on effect would be a pocketof the Gulf where fishermen would find no fishor other sea creatures to harvest.

The site where large concentrations ofmethane has been found is in a six-mile radiusaround the spill, where John Kessler, assistantprofessor in the Department of Oceanography atTexas A&M University, has just returned from a10-day research trip.

From a previous trip last year to thesame area, he has identified the rise in methaneto the Deepwater Horizon accident. Methane isa key component of natural gas, such as ethaneand propane, and it accounts for 40 per cent ofthe weight of material emanating from BP’sleaking well.

Last year the concentrations of thesegases were at normal levels of one to two partsper million. This year, the concentration ofmethane dissolved in the seawater is 100,000times more and, in some places, approaching1m times more, he said.

While methane may be toxic to variousmarine organisms, one of the focuses ofKessler’s research is investigating if the highconcentration of methane could lead to afeeding frenzy by marine microorganizationsthat feed on this hydrocarbon, depleting theoxygen in the area and creating a dead zone.

“There are some drawdowns inoxygen,” Kessler said. “It’s significant; wenotice it. It’s there.”

But whether it will increase enough tocause a dead zone remains to be seen, he said,with significant factors being how high theconcentrations of methane will get and howlong they will remain at these enhanced levels.

With BP siphoning increasing amountsof hydrocarbons to the surface, there are hopesthe amount gushing into the Gulf is on a decline.That said, the leak is expected to continue untilthe UK company can complete at least one ofthe two relief wells it is drilling to intersect theleaking well and plug it up. BP is hoping thatwill be in late July or August.

The National Oceanic and AtmosphericAdministration, the US EnvironmentalProtection Agency and the White House Officeof Science and Technology Policy said in itsfirst peer reviewed, analytical summary reportabout subsea monitoring that “dissolved oxygenlevels remained above immediate levels ofconcern.” But it added, “There is a need tomonitor dissolved oxygen levels over time.”

The Gulf of Mexico already is home toone of the world’s biggest dead zones -averaging about 17,000 square kilometres, thesize of Lake Ontario, over the past five years,according to the Louisiana Universities MarineConsortium.

But researchers do not know if the siteof the spill - more than 100 miles from shore -will link up with the one they have beenwatching over the years. That long-studied deadzone is close to shore, in shallower water, wherethe Mississippi River drains, over-enriching thewaters with nutrients that lead to an abundanceof algae that consumes all the oxygen in thewater so that it can no longer support marinelife. Scientists are confronting growing evidencethat BP's ruptured well in the Gulf of Mexico iscreating oxygen-depleted "dead zones" wherefish and other marine life cannot survive.

In two separate research voyages,independent scientists have detected what weredescribed as "astonishingly high" levels ofmethane, or natural gas, bubbling from the wellsite, setting off a chain of reactions that suck theoxygen out of the water. In some cases, methaneconcentrations are 100,000 times normal levels.

Other scientists as well as sportfishermen are reporting unusual movements offish, shrimp, crab and other marine life,including increased shark sightings closer to theAlabama coast.

Larry Crowder, a marine biologist atDuke University, said there were already signsthat fish were being driven from their habitat.

"The animals are already voting withtheir fins to get away from where the oil spill isand where potentially there is oxygendepletion," he said. "When you begin to seeanimals changing their distribution that istelling you about the quality of water furtheroffshore. Basically, the fish are moving closerto shore to try to get to better water."

Such sightings – and an accumulation ofdata from the site of the ruptured well and fromthe ocean depths miles away – have deepenedconcerns that the enormity of the environmentaldisaster in the Gulf has yet to be fullyunderstood. It could also jeopardise the Gulf'sbillion-dollar fishing and shrimping industry.

In a conference call with reporters,Samantha Joye, a scientist at the University ofGeorgia who has been studying the effects ofthe spill at depth, said the ruptured well wasproducing up to 50% as much methane andother gases as oil.

The finding presents a new challenge toscientists who so far have been focused onstudying the effects on the Gulf of crude oil,and the 5.7m litres of chemical dispersants usedto break up the slick.

Joye said her preliminary findingssuggested the high volume of methane comingout of the well could upset the ocean foodchain. Such high concentrations, it is feared,would trigger the growth of microbes, whichbreak up the methane, but also gobble upoxygen needed by marine life to survive,driving out other living things.

Joye said the methane was settling in a 200-metre layer of the water column, between

depths of 1,000 to 1,300 metres inconcentrations that were already threateningoxygen levels.

"That water can go completely anoxic[extremely low oxygen] and that is a prettyserious situation for any oxygen-requiringorganism. We haven't seen zero-oxygen waterbut there is certainly enough gas in the water todraw oxygen down to zero," she said.

"It could wreak havoc with thosecommunities that require oxygen," Joye said,wiping out plankton and other organisms at thebottom of the food chain.

A Texas A&M Universityoceanographer issued a similar warning lastweek on his return from a 10-day researchvoyage in the Gulf. John Kessler recorded"astonishingly high" methane levels in surfaceand deep water within a five-mile radius of theruptured well. His team also recorded 30%depletion of oxygen in some locations.

Even without the gusher, the Gulf wasafflicted by 6,000 to 7,000 square miles of deadzone at the mouth of the Mississippi river,caused by run-off from animal waste and farmfertiliser.

The run-off sets off a chain reaction.Algae bloom and quickly die, and are eaten upby microbes that also consume oxygen neededby marine life.

But the huge quantities of methane, ornatural gas, being released from the well inaddition to crude presents an entirely newdanger to marine life and to the Gulf's lucrativefishing and shrimping industry.

"Things are changing, and what impactsthere are on the food web are not going to beclear until we go out and measure that," saidJoye.[]

public anger against BP, which has takenresponsibility for the April 20 DeepwaterHorizon accident that caused the largest Gulf ofMexico spill ever. In an online petition, morethan 150,000 people demanded that thecompany stop the burns in order to save theturtles. At least 275 burns over a 500 squaremile area have taken place since the spill began,removing some 238,000 barrels (10 milliongallons) of oil from the surface.

Shrimp boat captain Michael Ellis firstreported the turtle incinerations in a video."They drag a boom between two shrimp boatsand whatever gets caught between the twoboats, they circle it up and catch it on fire. Oncethe turtles are in there, they can’t get out," Mr.Ellis said.

Texas A&M Gulf researcher ThomasShirley confirmed the "burn box" deaths in aninterview with the Monitor, adding thathundreds of dead turtles and other sea lifealready found in and around the spill representbut "a tiny fraction of what the actual damageis."

"One tragedy is that juvenile turtles andother animals head toward the oil instead ofaway from it," says Mr. Shirley. "To them itlooks like habitat. They have no pre-adaptationsto know what it is."

Juvenile turtles especially followfloating masses of seaweed called sargassumacross the open Gulf. Those sargassum, whenoil-soaked, are corralled by fire-proof booms aspart of the burn process.

The burns have been controversial fromthe beginning. Despite air quality concerns,officials say they're one of the most effectiveways available to rid the Gulf of the growingslick of oil, and a key part of an unprecedentedeffort to contain the spill and stop broaderecological damage.

No controlled burns will take place untilat least Tuesday because of bad weather in theGulf. As part of the agreement, BP said it willallow wildlife biologists onboard clean-upvessels to spot and remove ensnared turtles.[]

Gulf of Mexico (Jul 3) – Field-level staff of theU.S. Fish and Wildlife Service along with theNational Oceanic Atmosphere Administrationhave been documenting dead and injuredwildlife and marine life as a result of theDeepwater Horizon Disaster. BP will never beable to recover the loss of this life.

Part of the responsibilities of thecollection and rescue efforts are to determinethe exact cause of death or injury. Some of thewildlife and fish recovered may have died fromnatural causes. The increased numbers ofrecovered wildlife is due to the numbers of welltrained members of the rescue team.

Once team members locate, collect, orcapture fish and wildlife the injured and deadare labeled with indentifying numbers to aid inthe evaluation process. The rescued are given aninitial examination to determine the extent oftheir injuries. The collected are checked forbroken bones, external oil, or other injuries.Once returned to the shelters, the collected aregiven a thorough examination to determinewhether they have ingested any of the oil fromthe Deepwater Horizon gusher. The eyes, throat,and mouth are checked for oil damage as well.

In case of the deceased, a full or partialnecropsy is ordered to help determine the exactcause of death. A necropsy is an autopsyperformed on animals.

To date a total of 2,239 birds have beencollected, 922 oiled and 1317 found dead. Ofthose found dead 392 were found covered withoil. Those that have been collected alive, 408have been released back into the wild in themarshes around Titusville, Florida.

Five hundred ninety-four sea turtleshave been located, 441 of those found dead. Ofthe remaining sea turtles, only three have beenreleased back into safe sanctuary.

Of the total mammals collected, 52found dead, five found alive and only one hasbeen released back to safe sanctuary.

Other reptiles located, only one capturedalive and remains at the rescue facility forfurther evaluation and treatment.

Although, rehabilitation centers havebeen established in and around the Gulf States,BP will never be able to compensate for thosethat have lost their lives due to the carelessnessand unsafe practices of deepwater oil drillingand exploration.

The environmental impact of thisdisaster is here to stay for decades. It is time toput an end to this type of oil drilling and begina serious effort to turn to alternative energyresources for the sake of this planets future.

Currently, congressional committeeshave been examining the cause and effect of thisdisaster and the future of offshore oilexploration to which, for the sake of those thatlive in harmony with nature, an end to thisdangerous method of energy collection will behalted, at least here in the United States.[]

BP and the US Coast Guard have agreed toallow wildlife rescuers to pluck sea turtles outof corralled oil patches to keep them from beingincinerated alive, thus ending one of the mostdramatic – and tragic – consequences of theGulf oil spill.

In return, wildlife organizations thatbrought a lawsuit last week in New Orleansfederal court agreed to remove a request for aninjunction to completely ban the burns, whichhave become a critical method for BP and theCoast Guard to neutralize the oil slick and keepmore oil from washing ashore on the Gulf,where it threatens hundreds of other speciesfrom crabs to pelicans.

“Finally, I can sleep again knowing thesea turtles are not being burned alive,'' saidCarole Allen, Gulf Director of Turtle IslandRestoration Network in Houston, Texas, in astatement.

It's not known how many turtles havedied in hundreds of controlled oil burns far outat sea. Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen has saidthere's no evidence of such incinerations. But ashrimp boat captain reported he had beenordered away from areas where he had seensnared turtles. In deep water, animal and fishcarcasses quickly sink, researchers say.

The wildlife toll so far pales incomparison with that of the Exxon Valdez,where at least 35,000 sea birds died. In the Gulfoil spill, that number is only about 1,000 –primarily because the spill is 50 miles fromshore and a mile deep.

So began Olivia’s "Save the Gulf"campaign. The fifth grader from Islip, N.Y.,loves birds and the gulf region, where hergrandparents live. She told AOL News she was"really upset" when she learned about the oilspill and the attendant threat to birds.

"I really needed to do something,"Olivia said.

Inspiration arrived quickly. "I’m noJames Audubon, but I can draw," she said. Andso Olivia sat down and wrote her letter to theAudubon Society, including a painting.

It responded. In addition to purchasingone of Olivia’s drawings for their New Yorkheadquarters, the organization contacted her todiscuss fund-raising tactics.

The society and Olivia’s family --architect dad James, English teacher and writermom Nadine, and little brother Jackson --created a program whereby Olivia sends anoriginal painting to anyone who donates to anyof several organizations helping wildlife in thegulf. Donors e-mail Nadine, and Olivia takespen to paper, creating a unique work of art foreach donor.

Pencil, rather. All of Olivia’s bird worksbegin with an ebony pencil and thick watercolorpaper. Olivia then brushes watercolor over thetop. Donors can request specific birds;otherwise, Olivia chooses birds she knows aresuffering in the Gulf of Mexico right now.

The entire creative process takes about ahalf-hour. Initially, this wasn’t a lot of time, butnow that she’s up to 50 requests, she and herfamily are brainstorming more time-efficientoptions such a poster prints of her paintings.

Olivia is traveling to the gulf regiontoday, a trip planned before the spill. Sheunderstands how dire the situation has becomeand is prepared for what she might see.

She needs to be. Audubon staffers arefinding ever-greater numbers of birds coveredwith oil and worry about future effects on thebirds and gulf coast marine life in general.

"Even if BP managed to plug the leaktoday, many species in Audubon Important BirdAreas will still be in trouble because of the hugeamount of oil already coming onshore andalready present in the ocean water where theyderive their food," Delta Willis, seniorcommunications director for the NationalAudubon Society, told AOL News.

"The timing is terrible; brown pelicansare nesting, plus they were only delisted as anendangered species last November."

As a result of what society staffers areseeing, and what they fear for the future,they’ve urged Congress to authorize emergencyfunding to address the crisis.

Olivia, who has been passionate aboutbirds since she was 6, believes witnessing thebirds’ plight firsthand will motivate her to workeven harder.

"I want to see how bad it is. I amcompletely determined," she told AOL. "I don’tcare what I see. It will encourage me to go evenfurther with this."

be pulling the financial plug on the annual UFOFestival. The event celebrates the supposedcrash of a flying saucer near the town in the late1940s.

The festival includes a parade, completewith folks dressed as space aliens. But the CityCouncil has approved a preliminary budget fornext year, which doesn't include any money forthe festival.

One council member says it’soutrageous to spend $150,000 of the taxpayersmoney on the UFO event. This summer'sfestival is already funded and will go ahead asplanned.

Dennis Hopper may have passed away, butalong with his many film appearances, he hasleft an important legacy to UFO researchers.

That's the belief of Vancouver-basedparanormal researcher Jon Kelly, who says thescript that Hopper and "Easy Rider" co-starPeter Fonda wrote for the 1969 countercultureclassic helped introduce a lot of informationabout UFOs to a massive audience.

Kelly points to the campfire scene whereHopper (who played Billy) and cast memberJack Nicholson (George) discussextraterrestrials and their presence on theplanet.

In the film's dialogue, Hopper states, "Isaw a satellite, man. And it was going across thesky. And it flashed three times at me andzigzagged and whizzed off, man. And I saw it."

To which Nicholson replies:"That was a UFO, beamin' back at ya.

Me and Eric Heisman was down in Mexico twoweeks ago -- we seen 40 of 'em flying information. They, they, they've got bases all overthe world now, you know. They've been cominghere ever since 1946, when the scientists firststarted bouncin' radar beams off of the moon.And they have been livin' and workin' among usin vast quantities ever since. The governmentknows all about 'em."

In spite of Billy's protests to thecontrary, George continues:

"Well, they are people, just like us --from within our own solar system. Except thattheir society is more highly evolved. I mean,they don't have no wars, they got no monetarysystem, they don't have any leaders, because, Imean, each man is a leader. I mean, each man -- because of their technology, they are able tofeed, clothe, house and transport themselvesequally, and with no effort.

"Why don't they reveal themselves to usis because if they did, it would cause a general

panic. Now, I mean, we still have leaders uponwhom we rely for the release of thisinformation. These leaders have decided torepress this information because of thetremendous shock that it would cause to ourantiquated systems.

"Now, the result of this has been that theVenutians have contacted people in all walks oflife -- all walks of life. [Laughs.] Yes. It, it, itwould be a devastatin' blow to our antiquatedsystems -- so now the Venutians are meetingwith people in all walks of life, in an advisorycapacity. For once, man will have a god-likecontrol over his own destiny. He will have achance to transcend and to evolve with someequality for all."

Interestingly enough, during the scene,it's Nicholson's character, a straitlaced ACLUlawyer, who is the true believer that ETs arehere on Earth, while Hopper's character, adrugged-out biker, is the skeptic.

Kelly thinks this scene is verysignificant to modern UFO research for avariety of reasons.

"Some of the themes brought forward inthis scene were, at the time, made by peoplewho were considered marginalized kooks,"Kelly said. "To have them in this movie isrevolutionary, and the consistency of whatNicholson says has stood the test of time."

Kelly suggests the nature of whatNicholson says, especially about thegovernment's knowledge of aliens, is so on-target that he speculates the film may have beentargeted by people in the know to be aninstrument of disclosure.

"You have to ask yourself, 'Where didthis information come from?' " Kelly said."There is a strong possibility that other sourcesaligned with the movie decided to use it as avenue to disclose these ideas."

Kelly points the finger to Nicholson,who he suspects may have seen a UFO earlier inhis life.

However, Kelly is more fascinated bywhat Nicholson unconsciously says during thesame scene.

Kelly is a proponent of "reversespeech," the idea that a person's trueunconscious feelings come to light when playedbackward.

To that end, he claims that when youreverse the line, "They, they, they've got basesall over the world now, you know. They've been

coming here ever since 1946, when thescientists first started bouncin' radar beams offof the moon," you can hear Nicholson say, "Themark. A new Babylon. The ion whirlwind."

To the naked ear, this sounds likegibberish, but Kelly says "the ion whirlwind"that Nicholson is supposedly referring to issomething called "mini-black hole Star Gatepropulsion," which is how some people believeUFOs are propelled.

"In layman's terms, people who studyUFOs have noticed that supermassive blackholes expel powerful jets of particles at nearlythe speed of light," he said. "The theory is thatthe particles are accelerated by tightly twistedmagnetic fields close to the black hole. Inaddition, astronomers have watched materialwinding a corkscrew-outward path."

He believes this may explain how UFOsare powered and also how they are able to shiftdimensions so that they seem to disappear andreappear.

If this backward sentence by Nicholsontruly explains the basics of UFO propulsion, thenatural question is, how did he get theinformation?

The UFO rumor mill has longspeculated that certain Hollywood stars wereallowed access to top-secret data. In fact, somepeople claim that President Richard Nixonpersonally drove Jackie Gleason to a base tolook at the carcasses of dead aliens. Still, Kellyadmits that Nicholson wasn't a big enough starbefore "Easy Rider" to warrant such specialtreatment.

"There are two possibilities," Kelly said."Either he was a CIA plant -- a New WorldOrder insider -- or he pieced together everythingon his own without realizing it."

According to a June 1 press releaseissued by PRG, “advocacy for a politicalresolution to the UFO/ET issue, which began tocoalesce in the United States in the mid 1990's,has now become an international ‘DisclosureMovement’ seeking to end an official embargoof the truth regarding an extraterrestrialpresence engaging the human race.”

In 2006, Australia joined the list ofcountries that have been releasing government-held UFO files into the public domain. That listnow includes France, Britain, Denmark andCanada.

A bright spiralling light, believed byastronomers to be a rocket launched from CapeCanaveral, was spotted in skies acrossAustralia's east coast just before dawn onSaturday, sparking a UFO frenzy.

Described by some witnesses as a"lollipop-type swirl", the cloud of light was seenover the country's three easternmost provinces -New South Wales, Queensland and theAustralian Capital Territory - shortly beforesunrise.

"It had a distinct bright centre, much likea bright star ... (with) trails spiralling andfattening out from it," Canberra resident JamesButcher told broadcaster ABC of the spectacle,which he said lasted two or three minutes.

Other witnesses likened the spectacularphenomenon, footage of which was quick to hitthe Internet, to a "huge revolving moon" with aswirl in the middle, or an illuminated cloudmoving high and fast above the horizon.

"It certainly had that lollipop-type swirl... but it was travelling low and fairly fast, andas it went past me and I looked up, it looked likea row of lights, maybe four lights," oneBrisbane resident said.

Astronomer Andrew Jacob, actingcurator of the Sydney Observatory, said it wasmost likely SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket, launchedFriday from Cape Canaveral shortly beforedawn broke over Australia.

"It fits best, a rocket travelling overheadwith something venting out of it, fuel ventingout of the motor," Jacob said.

"The rocket's probably tumbling orspinning a little which creates a spiral effect, alittle like water coming out of a hose when youspin it. That's the best explanation I have so far,probably the most likely one."

The light was travelling the wrong wayfor it to be an astronomical phenomenon, andJacob said he had ruled out other possibilitiessuch as comets, a spotlight on cloud orreflection of the moon, or a meteor shower.

He said the timing was right for theSpaceX rocket to have travelled over theAtlantic Ocean, Africa and the Indian Oceanand be in skies over Australia at the time thespiralling light was seen.

The fact that it could be seen over sucha broad area meant whatever caused the flarehad to be very high in the atmosphere or in orbitabove the Earth, Jacob added.

"All the information points to thisSpaceX rocket," he said.

The launch of the privately ownedFalcon 9 test rocket marked a milestone for thespace industry in the race to developcommercial carriers capable of ferrying cargoand astronauts to the orbiting InternationalSpace Station.[]

The UFO Interpretive Centre and Museum hasopened for the summer at its new location – theformer Bon Portage General Store in ShagHarbour.

“There’s a lot more room than what wehad before,” said Cindy Nickerson, a chair ofthe Shag Harbour Incident Society.

The two-storey building allows forbetter display and there’s even a small diningarea overlooking the water.

“We’re going to try to get a food licenceto sell tea and coffee and sandwiches,” saidNickerson.

A grand opening was held on June 5with the serving of planetary punch and cake.

Rebecca Kendrick and Dwight Crowellhave been hired as museum attendants. Outsideimprovements are underway.

A flight simulator will be installed thissummer and a navy “shrine” in one of thecorners contains artifacts from the period –including a typewriter and dial phone.

There are magazine articles from Braziland Japan on the incident and many otherdocuments to peruse.

Nickerson says the committee is lookingfor more items related to the sighting, UFO’s ingeneral, or outer space.

“We are hoping to enlarge our collectionthis year. We also know there are people outthere who have stories from their ownexperiences they may like to tell. Ourattendants will be happy to collect informationfor our records. Just drop by the museum andthe attendants will take care of any informationyou can give us,” said Nickerson.

This year’s Shag Harbour UFO Incidentfestival will be held Aug. 6/7 with witnessaccounts, a boat tour of the site, presentationsby authors/researchers, a steamed lobstersupper, and variety show planned.

In the recent TV series “Into the Universe withStephen Hawking,” the world-renownedphysicist stirred the pot of speculationconcerning unidentified flying objects (UFOs)and potential earthly visitations byextraterrestrial (ET) entities, warning it wouldbe best for humankind to avoid contact withthem if possible.

Hawking noted such aliens wouldprobably be nomads living in massivespaceships after having exhausted the resourcesof their own planets and shifting from oneinterstellar refueling station to the next. “Ifaliens ever visit us, I think the outcome wouldbe much as when Christopher Columbus firstlanded in America, which didn’t turn out verywell for the Native Americans.” Hawking hasissued this warning for several years. In a 1996essay, he said until humans become moresophisticated, they should be “wary ofanswering” aliens.

In response to Hawking’s warning, TheJournal of Cosmology, a scholarly journal ofastronomy and astrophysics associated with theDepartment of Astronomy, Center forAstrophysics, at Harvard-Smithsonian inCambridge, Mass., published the views of 12scientists commenting on Hawking’s ETstatements. According to the Los AngelesTimes, “some criticized Hawking’s use ofhuman behavior to predict what aliens woulddo, but others said human behavior was areasonable yardstick. Few, however, questionedthe premise of Hawking’s statements — thatalien life forms probably exist and we are likelysomeday to encounter them.”

For those who study of the politics ofextraterrestrial contact — the exopoliticscommunity — and many in the UFO researchcommunity, Hawking’s statement was a double-edged sword. On the one hand, he brought theET topic front and center. On the other, hisstatement runs counter to the opinion and claimsof numerous exopolitical analysts and hundredsof UFO researchers and highly credentialedwitnesses who firmly believe ET/Earth contacthas been well-documented and has been a long-term phenomenon.

Among those offended by Hawking’spronouncement was former Canadian DefenseMinister Paul Hellyer, who is the longest-serving current member of the Queen’s PrivyCouncil for Canada.

On May 2, Hellyer publicly defendedextraterrestrial civilizations, which he stronglybelieves have not only visited Earth but alsohave contributed positively to humantechnological advancement. “The reality is thatthey’ve been visiting Earth for decades andprobably millennia and have contributed to ourknowledge,” Hellyer said. “Microchips, forexample, fiber-optics, they are just two of thethings that allegedly … came from crashedvehicles.”

In an interview, Hellyer said: “I thinkProfessor Hawking is indulging in some prettyscary talk that I would have hoped would not

come from someone with such an establishedstature. I think it’s really sad that a scientist ofhis repute would contribute to what I wouldconsider more misinformation about a vast andvery important subject.”

A May 5 report by ZlandCommunications Network also added to theUFO/ET discussion. That report said in 1984beloved astronomer/astrophysicist Carl Saganrevealed to J. Allen Hynek that he, like Hynek,believed UFOs are real. Hynek, a formerprofessor of astronomy at Ohio State Universityand at Northwestern University, served ascivilian scientific consultant to the U.S. AirForce’s seminal UFO study know as ProjectBlue Book (1952-69).

At the outset, Hynek was a UFOdebunker and, as he said, was an “arch-enemyof those flying saucer groups and enthusiastswho very dearly wanted UFOs to beinterplanetary.”

But after leaving Project Blue Book,Hynek wrote: “Now, however, documentationwhich puts the UFO-U.S. governmentcontroversy in quite a new light has becomeavailable” and shows “that the CIA and NSAprotestation of innocence and lack of interest inUFOs are nothing short of prevarication. ... Forthe government to continue to maintain thatUFOs are non-existent in the face of thedocuments already released and of other cogentevidence ... is puerile and, in a sense, an insultto the American people.”

Sagan’s alleged UFO revelation wascited by Hynek’s former colleague,photojournalist and investigative reporter PaolaLeopizzi-Harris.

“My recollection is that Hynek said itwas backstage of one of the many JohnnyCarson Tonight Shows Sagan did,” Leopizzi-Harris said. “He basically said” to Hynek “in1984, ‘I know UFOs are real, but I would notrisk my research funding, as you do, to talkopenly about them in public.’ ” This commentwas in stark contrast to many of Sagan’s earlier

statements, including one at a 1968 meeting ofthe U.S. House Committee on Science andAstronautics at which he said: “I do not thinkthe evidence is at all persuasive, that UFOs areof intelligent extraterrestrial origin.”

For the past 63 years, many“mainstream scientists” and other academicleaders have paid little attention to the UFO/ETphenomenon. Perhaps the alleged Saganrevelation and the Hawking/Hellyer debate willhelp a bit to stimulate badly needed scholarlyactivity regarding that problem.

ATLANTA - US Airways said a flightpreparing for takeoff in Atlanta returned to thegate due to maggots falling from an overheadluggage bin. The airline said Monday's USAirways flight 1537, which was bound for NewYork with a stop in Charlotte, was taxiing downthe runway when the maggots were noticed andreturned to the gate so the plane could becleaned, WAGA-TV, Atlanta, reportedThursday. US Airways spokesman ToddLemacher said the maggots were the fault of apassenger who brought spoiled meat onto theflight. He said the passenger with the meat was"re- accommodated on another airline" whilethe rest of the passengers returned to the planeand continued on to Charlotte. Officials insist the 26-foot tall statue of theancient Egyptian god Anubis now standingoutside the Denver International Airportterminal is there to promote a King Tut exhibitopening soon at the Denver Art Museum. Butthe giant image of the jackal-headed god taskedwith protecting the spirits of the dead isalarming some travelers.

"I'm not superstitious, but it doesn'texactly instill confidence when the god of thedead is staring through the window at you!"says Brian Olson, a Colorado resident whotravels frequently through Denver airport.

The Anubis statue, which has also spenttime at the Dallas/Fort Worth InternationalAirport, will leave Denver International Airportin mid-August. Staying behind will be severalpieces from the airport's permanent public artcollection that some travelers consider ominousand, in some cases, out of this world.

Mile-high mysteries

Matt Chasansky, the public artadministrator at Denver airport, has watched allthe YouTube videos, answered many e-mailsand read all the internet postings about thesecret messages allegedly embedded in murals,sculpture and other art pieces in the airport. He'sglad people are responding emotionally to theairport's collection but insists concerns aboutstrange doings at DEN are justmisunderstandings.

One traveler wrote to complain aboutthe "demons" in the baggage claim area. Thosedemons are part of Terry Allen's work, NotreDenver and are European cathedral-inspiredgargoyles meant not to harm people, but toprotect them from losing their luggage. Othertravelers see a secret code in the words andimages in 21st Century Artifacts, the fourmosaic floors created by Carolyn Braaksma andMark Villareal for Concourse B. "The piece isactually about geography, archeology andtopography," says the airport's Chasansky, "Andthose are Native American words and symbolsfor the Colorado River and other sites aroundthe area."

On its website, the airport notes that "afew fanciful conspiracy theories have beengenerated" by Leo Tanguma's mural titledChildren of the World Dream Peace, but thatnone of those far-out theories "were intended bythe artist." And both the airport's telephone-holdmessage and brochure for the self-guided arttour make reference to the uneasy feelings sometravelers get from the glowing red eyes of the32-foot tall blue Mustang by Luis Jiménez, whodied while working on the sculpture. Dubbed"Bluecifer" by detractors, the sculpture rearingup on the road leading to the airport hasspawned Facebook pages and campaignscalling for its removal.

There are also rumors about the airport'saliens. The ones that have supposedly come toearth and now live in the hidden undergroundareas at the airport. "One theory says you canput your ears against the columns in the

terminal and hear alien voices from thebasement," says Chasanksy. Another describeshow pushing the right combination of buttonson a keypad by the airport's time capsule willsignal the elevators to descend to the aliens'underground base. Unfortunately for alienhunters, that 'keypad' is just a plaque withbraille lettering on it.

"All those theories are fanciful and fun,"says Chasansky, "But none of it is true. And thealiens aren't telling me to say this."

Unexplained events at other airports

Fanciful or not, Denver Internationalisn't the only airport said to be visited by aliens.According to Peter Davenport of the Seattle-based National UFO Reporting Center, "Therehave been many reports which seem to be, inone way or another, associated with airports."

Larry Bowron, now the TransportationDirector for the city of Battle Creek, Mich., saysback when he worked at the Scottsdale, Ariz.,airport he saw something he still can't fullyexplain hover over the runway and then zip outof sight. "It looked like a helicopter, but had nolights on it. All of sudden a white beam of lightcame on and within two seconds it acceleratedand was out of my sight. There was no sound,yet it moved 100 times faster than anything I'dseen in my life."

Bowron says prior to that experience hewas "sort of a skeptic" about UFOs, but "Yousee something that defies logic and it makes abeliever out of you."

Travis McQueen, manager of Indiana'sHuntingburg Airport, hasn't seen a UFO, but didjump in an airplane to take some aerial picturesof mysterious crop circles that once showed upon airport-owned land leased to a local farmer.He won't say whether or not he believes it wasaliens or local pranksters who left their mark inthe farmer's bean field, but McQueen did file areport with the local sheriff so that the farmercould file an insurance claim for his lost crops.

Then there's the UFO that may or maynot have visited Chicago's O'Hare InternationalAirport on November 7, 2006. Peter Davenportof the National UFO Reporting Center says hereceived documents "that left no doubt as towhether the event occurred, or to its bizarrenature." He estimates that the disc-shapedobject seen hovering above Gate C-17 wasobserved by no fewer than three dozen people,including aircraft mechanics, airlinesupervisory personnel and others he calls"highly qualified observers."

The Chicago Tribune and other news outletspublished reports about the 2006 UFO incident.Davenport and others call the event "verydramatic" and "very well documented." Theonly thing officials at O'Hare have ever saidabout the possible UFO sighting, though, is "Nocomment." []

Airplanes can punch holes in clouds and make itrain, new research shows. As propeller or jetairplanes pass through the right atmosphericconditions, they make liquid water dropletsfreeze and immediately drop as snow, leaving acircular fissure behind.

Odd clouds can sometimes eludeexplanation for decades, and these mysteriousgaps in the sky, aptly called hole-punch cloudsor channel clouds, have been puzzling skygazers and scientists alike since the 1940s. A1968 article in the magazine Weatherwise calledthem “A Meteorological Whodunit?”

As recently as October 2009, headlinestouted a “Mystery UFO Halo Over Moscow.”Earlier studies had suggested a link betweenhole-punch clouds and airplanes, though themechanism was unclear.

Previous research also suggests thatpropeller planes could make snow fall whenthey flew through supercooled clouds, wherewater droplets remain liquid despite subfreezingtemperatures. But until recently, a directconnection between airplanes, hole-punchclouds and snowfall was missing. Now, a teamof atmospheric scientists report observing allthree in the June Bulletin of the AmericanMeteorological Society.

Andrew Heymsfield of the NationalCenter for Atmospheric Research andcolleagues flew a research plane through thesnow produced by a hole-punch cloud west ofDenver International Airport in 2007. The planewas loaded with instruments for studying howice forms in clouds. Radar from the groundpicked up a strange echo in their wake,indicating oddly-shaped snowflakes.

“We didn’t know it, but we went rightthrough this precipitation feature that wasspotted from the ground,” Heymsfield said.Video from the flight showed a hole in a patchof altocumulus clouds (see below), and twoinches of snowfall directly below the hole.

Heymsfield and colleagues examinedflight records for the nearby airport and linkedthe hole and the snow to two commercialturboprop aircraft that had taken off about anhour before. The movement of supercooledwater droplets over the planes’ propellerscooled them enough to make them freeze andplunge to Earth as snowflakes, Heymsfield said.Normally, snowflakes or raindrops need a speckof dust or another imperfection to form around.But supercooled water can freeze instantly, if itcools quickly to around minus 35 degreesFahrenheit.

To confirm this idea, the researcherscompared the snowflakes that fell on either sideof the hole-punch cloud to the ice crystals thatfell directly beneath it. The snowflakes that fellfrom the hole were more plate-like and simplethan those that originated in the surroundingclouds. The more-complicated snowflakes hadaccumulated drops of liquid water as they fell,Heymsfield said. But in the middle of the hole,all the liquid had either frozen or evaporated.

“This phenomena removes the droplets,so these crystals as they fell were not collecting

any droplets,” he said.“My initial impression is that it’s

reasonable,” commented Patrick Chuang, acloud expert at the University of California,Santa Cruz, who was not involved in the newwork.

The researchers then linked satelliteimages of hole-punch clouds to flight schedulesto show that jet aircraft, not just propellerplanes, can also punch holes and produce snow.The supercooled droplets freeze after passingover the jet planes’ wings, Heymsfield said.

“We know exactly which aircraftproduced the holes,” he said. “Researchers hadpreviously linked a lot of snow to propelleraircraft, but they hadn’t made the connection tojet aircraft.”

“There are a lot more jets flying aroundthan there are propeller aircraft, so there’s muchmore opportunity to generate this effect,” headded.

Not all flights through banks of cloudswill produce snow. About 7.8 percent of theEarth’s surface is covered with clouds at theright elevation for supercooled droplets to form.And because jet aircraft don’t generally cruiseat those altitudes, they may only form hole-punch clouds when they take off or land.

The extra precipitation left by airplanespunching holes in clouds is probably not enoughto change global climate patterns, Heymsfieldadded. But “regionally, it could certainlyenhance snowfall.” []

(June 25) -- Will the European Union discloseany UFO files it might have, as one lawmakercalled for several days ago, perhaps bringingnew facts to a field long relegated bygovernment officials as science fiction?

Maybe, but this isn't the first time worldleaders have had a close encounter with UFOs.

As reported here earlier this week,Italian Northern League party leader MarioBorghezio has urged all 27-member EUgovernments to open the books and reveal any

previously secret UFO files.In Borghezio's declaration, he

mentioned a 1978 United Nations summit inwhich "the 33rd General Assembly ... formallyrecognized UFOs as a valid issue."

When I read Borghezio's reference, itstruck an obvious chord in my memory.Obvious because I was directly involved, and toa large degree, responsible for bringing UFOs tothe attention of the U.N. that year.

Let me share some of that experiencewith you.

In 1977, Eric Gairy, the prime ministerof the Caribbean island nation of Grenada, wasstruggling to generate U.N. interest in hispersonal crusade to establish an internationalcommittee dedicated to studying and sharingUFO reports.

Meantime, I had recently produced adocumentary record album (yes, vinyl!) forCBS Inc., called "UFOs: The CredibilityFactor." It featured the voices of military,government and scientific experts comingtogether for the first time on record to talk aboutthe possibility that some UFOs might really bealien spacecraft.

After that album, I wanted to do more tohelp people who dared to speak about their ownpersonal UFO experiences -- only to be metwith ridicule and scorn.

Dreamer that I was, I wanted to bringsomething before the United Nations, to try toget that esteemed group of international leadersto finally come together on a subject that couldpotentially advance the world in both scientificand sociological ways.

If you want to do something at the U.N.,I learned, you can't just walk in off the street andannounce that you want to tell the world howimportant UFOs are (or any subject, for thatmatter). You have to either be a delegate orsponsored by a country.

So I sent my UFO album to Gairy viathe Grenada embassy in New York. He and Imet and struck a deal: I told him I was aware ofhis efforts lobbying the U.N. to pay attention tohis UFO campaign, and I offered to produce apresentation with a stacked lineup of UFOexperts bound to pique the interest ofinternational leaders.

For John P. Timmerman, talking aboutunidentified flying objects is a daily occurrence.The Lima native began his study of UFOsbefore the town of Roswell, New Mexicobecame famous for a baffling experience. Hehas interviewed many about their ownexperiences with UFOs, yet there is one majorhole in his life experience.

"I have never seen what I would like toexperience," admitted Timmerman. "In the restof my life, I have spoken to, talked to, talkedwith thousands and thousands and thousandsand thousands of real people who are part of theprogram I put together for people to come to meand tell me of their experiences. And they did."

Now, at the age of 87, Timmerman'spassion is to share what he has learned and toget others to think about the unknown.

He noted, "I want to make sure that thepeople who really want to know will realize therealities of their lifetime and study the subjects,the planets and the sky around us, because we'redealing with something extremely interesting.To ignore it would make us all fools."

According to Timmerman, it was 1946when his interest in astronomy collided withreports of "flying saucers" in Washington. "Iwrote a letter to three professors in a collegenearby and asked them if I could be of help infinding stories," he remembered. "They sent anice letter back to Lima and told me I waswelcome to try."

Timmerman was asked to join the J.Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies as aninvestigator and board member. He jumped atthe chance.

"This was an opportunity for me to workwith a man that I thought was highly intelligentand deeply interested in what he was assigned todo by the United States Air Force. All the callsand experiences he had during that time weresomething well beyond what he could handle byhimself," stated Timmerman.

After all the interviews he has conductedand all the investigations he has undertaken,Timmerman remains convinced that there ismore in the universe than most people realize.While some sightings turn out to be easilyexplainable, others are not.

"I can't explain all these things," heshrugged. "I just think we should study the

things around us and prepare to protect ourplanet from maybe a big rock coming alongsideand tearing us up. That's astronomy. So insteadof some of the other things we waste our timeon, we should make sure we have a clearunderstanding of reality on our planet."

Timmerman's stories raise morequestions than provide answers. He asserts thatthe government has covered up information andchanged facts in official reports. He claimedthat Hynek discovered the discrepancies andspoke out against Project Blue Book - theproject with which his name had becomeforever linked.

Some of the stories that Timmerman hasheard firsthand can boggle the mind. Hebelieves there is much that mankind does notknow or understand, but does not offer much inthe way of speculation. Aware that his mind hasbegun to weaken, he has become content toraise questions and to urge people to wonderabout the unknown.

He said, "We should be reconsideringour belief in everything. We should payattention to what we don't know now."

Timmerman has spoken out about UFOsperhaps as much as people have spoken to himon the topic. His work with the Center for UFOStudies has carried over to local groups like theLima Area UFO Research Associates(LAURA). Although his mind works moreslowly, his steady voice still resonates stronglywith a charge to look beyond what is alreadyknown. At an advanced age, Timmerman stillstrives to teach people about the unknown.

"I'm glad that I have taken a study of theunknown," he declared. "My wife wants me tostay how and work in the garden! But I want tobe informative and do things to increasepeople's knowledge about the world in whichthey live." []

DENVER - The EXTRA campaign, which iscalling on Denver residents to help them postalleged documented extraterrestrial evidence onthe city's website, will have to wait untilNovember.

Extraterrestrial Affairs Commissionballot initiative had been put on the August 10,primary election ballot, but the DenverElections Division posted the change of date onits web site in June.

The commission wants to investigateextraterrestrials claims and post the finding on

the city's website."Knowing the truth about extraterrestrial

beings, their visits to Earth, and the broadimplications of these realities for humanity, iswhy an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission isneeded," states the campaign's website.

Supporters for the commission,including Jeff Peckman, who says for decadesthe government has covered up the existence ofaliens, of alien abductions, and extraterrestrialcures for cancer.

Campaign supporters hope the delaywill give them more time to educate the publicabout risks and benefits of interacting withextraterrestrial visitors.

If passed by voters in November, theseven member commission would post allegedevidence of extraterrestrial visitors on Denver'sgovernment web site.

The commission would be funded bygrants, gifts and donations. The commissionsays no money from the city budget will be usedfor the website.

Earlier this year, the Mission forInhibiting Bureaucracy recently registered withthe city as a political committee against theDenver Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission.

The M.I.B argues the commission wouldcost the city $23,000 a year in incidental costs.

He quickly agreed, and I spent 1978gathering my ammunition for the Novemberevent.

In July of that year, I arranged forseveral of my UFO "presenters" to meet withGairy and U.N. Secretary-General KurtWaldheim to discuss our plans.

The experts I requested includedastronomer (and former UFO consultant to theAir Force) J. Allen Hynek, who coined the term"Close Encounters of the 1st, 2nd and 3rdKind."

On hand with Hynek and me wereFrench astronomer Jacques Vallee;astrophysicist Claude Poher, who headed up theofficial French UFO research group;psychologist David Saunders, a member of thefamous U.S. government Condon Committee,which discredited UFOs in 1969; and GordonCooper, one of America's original "right stuff"astronauts.

At this highly publicized meeting,Hynek told Waldheim that he and many of hiscolleagues felt that "the time has come forofficial education of the public regarding UFOs.We now recognize that, apart from its potentialscientific importance, it has sociological andpolitical significance."

I spent the rest of 1978 collecting a largenumber of pictures, films and documents toinclude in the final November presentation --many of which had to be translated into severallanguages for the delegates.

Among the documents given me byHynek was one he'd managed to secure from theAir Force while he was the official scientificconsultant. It was a chapter from a 1968textbook, "Introductory Space Science," createdby the USAF Academy department of physics.And it was, of course, not for the public eye.

In the lengthy chapter, titled"Unidentified Flying Objects," Air Forceofficials laid out for academy cadets clear andconcise information about UFOs, including thefollowing, almost shocking, revelations(completely contrary to official explanations):

"What we will do here is to presentevidence that UFOs are a global phenomenonwhich may have persisted for many thousandsof years ...

"The most stimulating theory for us isthat the UFOs are material objects which areeither 'manned' or remote-controlled by beingswho are alien to this planet. There is someevidence supporting this viewpoint."

After offering cadets numerousexamples of UFO cases that were unexplained,the chapter concludes, "This leaves us with theunpleasant possibility of alien visitors to ourplanet, or at least of alien controlled UFOs ...and what questionable data there are suggeststhe existence of at least three and maybe fourdifferent groups of aliens."

Even filmmaker Steven Spielbergoffered to help with our 1978 presentation. Justa few months after the 1977 premiere of his epic"Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (in whichastronomer Hynek served as technical adviser),

Hynek, Vallee and I met with Spielberg inCalifornia, and he offered to have ColumbiaPictures provide UFO-related materials to showat the U.N.

When the day of the event arrived, Nov.27, 1978, in addition to speeches given to thespecial political committee by Hynek andVallee, nuclear physicist Stanton Friedmanspoke about the evidence that favored his theoryof extraterrestrial visitation.

And there was also Army Lt. Col. LarryCoyne, who electrified the committee with astory about a night in 1973 when he and hisArmy helicopter crew had a terrifying closeencounter with a UFO.

One of the documents I obtained for theevent was a letter that I asked ex-astronautCooper to write, which was distributed to allU.N. delegates. In it, he said, "I believe theseextraterrestrial vehicles and their crews arevisiting this planet from other planets, whichobviously are a little more technically advancedthan we are here on Earth.

"I would also like to point out that mostastronauts are very reluctant to even discussUFOs due to the great numbers of people whohave indiscriminately sold fake stories andforged documents, abusing their names andreputations without hesitation."

It was an amazing experience, bringingall these people together for such a high-profileevent. The outcome of our efforts was that theGeneral Assembly invited interested membernations "to take appropriate steps to coordinateon a national level scientific research andinvestigation into extraterrestrial life, includingunidentified flying objects, and to inform thesecretary-general of the observations, researchand evaluation of such activities."

But the UFO issue quietly hit the backburner on the U.N. agenda when, in early 1979,Gairy was overthrown in Grenada by oppositionleader Maurice Bishop.

So, here we are in 2010 with a newinternational effort afoot. It's no wonder I feel alittle kinship with the European Union'sBorghezio. It would be great if his endeavor topry some real UFO stuff out of the EU works.

They’re not on the invitation list, but maybe it’stime UFOs made an appearance at a G20summit, argue researchers into the mysteriousobjects.

And one Canadian authority speculatesEarth’s most powerful commanders suddenlyhave a better chance of getting a glimpse ofsomething strange in the Canadian sky.

Those who are looking for answers intoone of the planet’s most stubborn riddles —“What the heck is that up there?” — have beenenergized by G20 members opening uppreviously classified UFO documents.

Canada has joined Australia, Britain,France, Spain, Brazil, Sweden and NewZealand in making the papers pubic.

While chronicling bizarre incidents —British air commanders once ordered a pilot toshoot down a UFO before the object vanished— the files haven’t inspired world leaders tobring the mysteries down to Earth.

“With more pressing things on the G20agenda … it’s unlikely that UFOs would evercome up in discussions,” acknowledges ChrisRutkowski, a Winnipeg science writer andleading authority on UFOs in Canada.

But an unexplained event near a G20summit might put the issue on the table, hebelieves.

“In fact, one suggestion is that the recentearthquake just outside of Ottawa mightgenerate — or have generated — some UFOactivity throughout southern Ontario,” heexplains.

Some — though Rutkowski isn’tconvinced — believe UFOs are caused byelectromagnetic energy released before andafter seismic events.

“Hence, G20 leaders might see someUFOs while in the Toronto area,” Rutkowskisays of the theory.

Nick Pope — who once ran the Britishgovernment’s UFO project at the Ministry ofDefence — now helps with the declassificationof previously top-secret files.

“It would be fascinating to see the UFOsubject raised at the G20 summit,” he tells QMIAgency.

He doesn't think it’s so far fetched,considering the United Nations took a look atthe phenomenon in 1977, and last week anItalian politician called for the European

Parliament to force member states to open uptheir UFO files.

“I’m not saying these things areextraterrestrial — the truth is that governmentsdon’t know what they are, despite accusationsfrom conspiracy theorists who think we havecrashed spaceships hidden away in air forcehangers.”

But the science could have an impact insecurity and air travel, Pope points out.

He adds: “Maybe world leaders shouldat least take a look at this.” []

It has come to my attention that my efforts tospeak the truth about the subjects of UFOs,9/11, and most probably, the Gulf situation, hasgarnered the attention of those that would rathernot have you hear such things. This has furtherled to a supposed contract on my life.

This may be overblown, or it may be forreal. But the communication and connectionsthat I have had with my own Guides tell me, thisisn’t a game. But it’s ‘arrival’ in my life hasprompted some needed changes, at a time thatseems oddly well-timed, and appropriate. Ithink you’ll understand.

Though I’m a little surprised its gonethis far, I’m also not very surprised at all, givenmy compulsion to passionately share all that Ican with those who just aren’t ‘getting it’ yet.My aim has always been (since the days of myown awakening) to awaken others, for their ownbenefit and safety, as well as helping themunderstand the importance of raising their ownconsciousness and vibration.

And the importance of that cannot beunderstated. To have a grasp of the issues thatsurround us such as; the ET presence, thesuppressed technologies we so badly need onthis planet, to our positions as pawns for acorrupt government, will eventually help us allto rise above the lies, and ascend during thisperiod of dimensional shifting, and crashingparadigms. To not be aware, is to suppress yourown vibrations, which can make your ascensioninto a new and beautiful 5D world somewhatimpossible. And it’s no fairytale, as theevidence is there for us to see every day now, aswe watch it all come to pass.

And the short version is, I want as manyof you to be part of this amazing time inmankind’s history, as I can possibly gather. I’dlike to think I’ve done my best until this point,and I think I have.

I’ve used this analogy with others. Ifyou’re on a beach with someone, and all signsare pointing to an imminent tsunami, how longdo you stand there and argue your point to them,until it takes both of you away? That’s where weare now. And many of us can no longer helpthose that choose not to be helped. We need toget to higher ground right now, with or withoutyou. But we’d like you to come along, make nomistake about that.

But this also may very well be my cue toclose one chapter in my life, to only begin thenext. None of what we feel or do is coincidentalin this life. There is a plan at work. A plan

created before we were born. And we receivesigns of that every day, through synchronicityand intuition. I’m sure you feel it, too, as I do.

So for me, it will be less focus on thecorruption and orchestration of a governmenthell bent on continuing their control andreduction of the population, and more focus onthe tangible, positive efforts on the ground.Things are going to get crazy, and I think weknow that. I also think it’s my time to helpothers physically through this period, ratherthan on the internet, which many of us feel iscoming quickly to an end anyway, throughfurther controls and the power now granted tothis president to shut it down. Again, it seems tobe my cue to exit stage left at this time. I canhelp in other ways.

This is not to say that I don’t believe inthe things I have shared, nor have I been ‘gottento’. This is a personal decision of mine to moveforward with what little time is left to do so. Theissues are real, and the efforts of a darkergovernment to control, manipulate and threatenstill exist in this world. I hope I have awakeneda few in the mean time to this. I feel I have,which is also why I also feel that it’s alright forme to move on from writing about thesesubjects. And if your own inner guidance tellsyou the same, I’d say, act on it. But YES, everybit of what I have shared I believe in to my verycore. But now, I choose not to give it that power.They are done, and they know it. It’s time formany of us to move forth, and just watch as theygrasp for their vanishing power, which will soonbe no more than dust in their hands. It is ALLgood, and time for us to move forward. Brighterdays ahead, we can be sure, after this madnesscomes to an end. And it will, very soon.

We’re all here for particular reasons andtasks. And I feel that many of us are protected aswe fulfill them. Which is why, there is no fearfrom my end. Just a certain sensibility, strength,and sense of peace and completion as ‘Phase 2’now begins. I feel stronger now, more resolute,and ready to act on whatever I need to do next,for myself and others. Many of you are nodifferent in that regard, and I KNOW who youare, and I’m grateful and blessed for havingknown you.

In one week from now, when I returnfrom a brief trip away, I will close my accounts,my columns, and my blog. This is not a snapdecision of mine, and again, is under thedirection and suggestion of my own Guides whohave brought me to where I am today, safely andhappily. I would have thought to at least leavethem open and operating, so others can continueto do their own research. I got a no-go on that.Sorry.

In closing, I would say that if you havenot awakened to the realities people are tryingto share with you, please look a bit harder intowhat they are seeing that you are not. There isso much more truth to these realities than youmay ever know. And simply opening up to themcan have tremendously positive, spiritualimplications that many of us are alreadyexperiencing. I have great plans when this incarnationof mine is done upon earth, and suicide onlydefeats, destroys, and screws with any suchplans. Skepticism is fine, but

Richard scoffs at people who believe in UFOs,precognition, ESP, poltergeists or other so-called "paranormal" phenomena.

"Superstitious fools" is what he callsthem.

Foolish or not, even where science iswidely taught in schools, many people harborsuch beliefs. Arrayed against them are skepticswho argue that there is no empirical evidence tosupport claims of things that go bump in thenight.

As a psychotherapist, I've worked withmany clients who ascribe to what Richard calls"magical thinking." Those who disclose to metheir paranormal episodes usually do soreluctantly, recognizing that shrinks often lookaskance at such matters or consider themsymptomatic of mental illness.

However, I am not so inclined."I believe you've had a real experience,"

I tell many. "What is open to question is howyou are interpreting that experience."

Most magical thinking arises from amurky but persistent sense that there is more tothe world than what is obvious or measurable.Many of us undergo mysterious happenings thatfeel quite real but for which there is noevidence-based explanation, leaving plenty ofroom to conjure up our own versions.

Since our ancestors first threw rocks atthe moon, we've been making up causes toexplain the seemingly inexplicable. Phenomenathat we now understand, such as lightening,were once ascribed to magical forces.

As science has evolved, priorexplanations for various mysteries have provenfalse with facts. However, given how little weknow about such things as humanconsciousness, cosmology and life force, it'sobvious that science doesn't have all theanswers.

So when folks like Richard dismissparanormal phenomena as fictitious ordelusional, they may be making their owninterpretive error. As I reminded him, "Theabsence of proof is not the proof of absence."

There may be another way to view allthis.

Author and futurist Arthur Clarke, whowrote "2001: A Space Odyssey," stated that,"Any sufficiently advanced technology isindistinguishable from magic." So if you couldgo back a few centuries and pull out youriPhone or laptop, you'd be viewed as a wizard inyour own right.

By way of analogy, people reportingparanormal experiences may be encountering a"sufficiently advanced technology" that isembedded in the underlying structure andfunctioning of the universe itself. After all, what

we do know for certain about so-called reality isfar exceeded by what we don't.

It is possible that some paranormalepisodes represent moments when weencounter, even if only briefly, unseen forcesand phenomena that surround us but which stillelude our detection. Consider theoreticalphysicists who mathematically describedimensions that may be invisibly intertwined inour midst.

Skepticism can be a good thing, but itimproves when also applied to the skeptic's ownassumptions.[]

On an ice-blue clear, cold but sunny, summerday two decades after the poles shifted, and thevolcanoes erupted in unison on the Ring of Fire,the "Healing Earth Assets Report (HEAR)" wasstoically submitted by those of us formergovernment scientists and engineers still livingand collecting data in these remote regions.

Today we were tasked by the Chairmanof the civilian steering committee of HEAR torelease our findings on the collapse ofcivilization to the global representatives ofH.O.P.E. (Help Our Planet Evolve). But the death nail that sealed our coffinwas conflicts of the Third World, a series ofbattles, skirmishes, and terror acts against thenuclear-armed superpowers, and tacticalsurgical strikes made in retaliation andcontainment, known collectively as WWIII.

In the aftermath of wars and rumors ofwars, it was now known that we humans hadmisunderstood our mission, and the message ofthe messengers sent from inner and outer spacewith the admonition: "Stop the pillaging,plundering, and rape of Gaia -- or else faceextinction."

Our lost civilization was completelyout-of-balance and had overlooked the basics ofspiritual lifestyles: clean air, pure water, andorganic food and its significance in cleaning andclearing the chakras -- our light body "double."That is, our species destroyed the elementallinks in the chain of being and suffered theconsequences of arrogance and unpreparednessfor the climate shift of the ages from globalwarming to cooling, the volcanic eruptions andthe corresponding sulfuric toxicity of the rainsin era-2012.

This oversight led to wholesalestarvation because there was nothing to sell inthe retail seafood, fruit and vegetable producemarkets anymore. The Florida and Californiacoastlines were underwater, farmers' fields werestill clogged with ashes in the Midwest and ourhorn of plenty was suddenly very empty.

Why did we not begin an immediateeffort to build commercial greenhouses withsolar and wind-powered generators in everymajor city worldwide? We could have easilymade lawns in the city parks, for example,available for local citizens to grow gardens andshare the produce with each other. It would havehad a positive impact psychologically as well asphysically if we also added Tai Chi exercises,sunrise-sunset meditations, and healtheducation classes within community wellnesscontext group gatherings. Public officials wouldhave benefited with votes of confidence fromconstituents for their visionary preparations forearth changes-to-come instead of thereactionary panic that followed in themetropolitans.

Specifically, for the record, it was notedthat Gaia had created human beings withhypersensitive, complex central nervoussystems to in fact be the central pain centers ofMother Earth in order to monitor its wellbeing.The big idea was to evolve a new super hominidspecies out of all the other life forms-animals,plants, minerals-so it that it could see and feelthe climate changes and help circumvent thenext regular as clockwork Ice Age cycle with itscerebral cortex designed to envision new greentechnologies. Then with its opposing thumbs it

could build the tools needed to restore theGarden of Eden. Even though this capacity wasa two-edged sword, the greatest gift andpotential curse, to Gaia for if we failed toawaken-in-time and perform our life-enhancingfunction, the consequences would be fatal to us.

Unfortunately, that is what happened:we served only ourselves and now there wouldbe no bountiful harvests from amber waves ofgrain: no gain from our painstaking attempts tocontrol nature with our chemical agriculturalarsenals. No feasts or holidays, rather meagermeals, but thanksgiving did, however, continuefor those that remained alive one more day, andlong cold night without utilities. Yet the worldhad been cleansed and purified by the ensuingsolar storms and pole shift: it was a beautifulsight to behold, albeit the results left a barrenlandscape.

Speaking for myself, I missed the sightsand sounds of the birds and bees, the earthygreen smells of my gardens. These memorieswere comforting but very, very sad because wefell so far so fast from a privileged society toone focused on survival and not much else now.

The good times were behind us and wedid it to ourselves: no one was to blame. Even ifculprits to this chaos could be identified, theywere dead. The bullets and bunkers and bankholdings did not save them for long. Theseprevious symbols of wealth proved totallyworthless and non-negotiable for the one thingthey couldn't buy from the hard-working,country-dwelling, "pagans": food.

How did we let this happen? We ignoredthe warnings from the mystics, prophets, andshamans, as well as our own federal agencies asAndrew Hough reported on June 14, 2010:

"... Senior space agency scientistsbelieve the Earth will be hit with unprecedentedlevels of magnetic energy from solar flares afterthe Sun wakes "from a deep slumber" sometimearound 2013, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.

One of my high school students asked merecently why the Greeks told such horrific talesof rape and murder.

This led to a discussion of why theancients created their myths. Basically, withouta deep knowledge of science, they needed to tellstories to help them understand what must haveseemed like a chaotic world.

Much like the world we live in today.Oh, we know our science. We

understand the Earth is not flat, and it revolvesaround the sun. We know about climate changeand evolution, too -- at least most us do.

But we're confused about politics,economics and technology. All is not what itseems, and we are furiously concoctingconspiracy theories and modern myths toexplain it all.

Barack Obama is not a native-borncitizen. He is a Muslim. He wants to disarm usall. He is a socialist.

The Bush administration engineered9/11. The Illuminati rule the world. Fluoride inour water makes us stupid. Vaccines causeautism in toddlers or turn adults into passivedrones.

In 2012, the world will end. The Mayanssaid so. We are in the end times, biblicallyspeaking, anyway. If the Beast promised inRevelations doesn't get us first (and he is outthere, make no mistake), the New World Orderwill.

Our digitalized TVs are spying on us.Big Pharma creates new illnesses to sell moredrugs. Airplanes release "chemtrails" ofmysterious biological substances.

Admission: I love conspiracy theories. Idon't believe most of them and am not entirelyconvinced of those I consider plausible. Butuntil a few days ago, I thought my interest inthem was fun, a sort of hobby. An "alternativereality" show.

I was listening to the radio. One of those10-minute business updates came on. "Thestock market rallies," the host's voice trilled. Iexpected "Joy to the World" to rock out, ratherthan the show's regular theme.

I didn't feel any joy. So what if the stockmarket is up? The rest of the country is going tohell in a handbasket, to put it mildly.

How can anyone in their right mind beexcited about a stock market rally when the darnthing is going up and down like a yo-yo oncocaine? My husband and I no longer havemoney invested in it (thank God), but aninvestor would have to be in heavy denial tothink that what is happening on Wall Street isbusiness as usual.

It does not help to be fed a steady diet of"ho, ho, ho, the market has rallied and all isright in the world."

This sort of insanity breeds conspiracytheories.

Here's one of my very own. Thegovernment pushed workers into 401(k)s not for

our own benefit, but to rationalize reducing oreliminating Social Security. So what if mostpeople would end up losing money because thestock market is not for non-MBAs who have towork 40 hours a week and don't have time tofigure out what they're doing with theirinvestments?

Those people who can actually work themarket would just benefit even more. Orsomething like that.

The point is, I not only sense somethingis very wrong with the stock market. Millions ofpeople lost their retirement savings in the 2009crash. How about May 6?, Nuff said.

I've got another one. Why, whenthousands of gallons of oil are pouring into theGulf of Mexico, aren't gas prices going up?Maybe because that would be the death blow toour economy? How come the laws of supplyand demand aren't working? Huh?

Conspiracy theories and modern mythsoften contain a kernel of truth. At the very least,they show that the tellers, and listeners, areupset, confused and looking for answers.

The speculations about PresidentObama, for example, are absurd. Yet I wonderabout the person I supported and voted for. Hisadministration is stocked with Goldman Sachsinsiders. His reaction to the BP oil spill has beenpathetic.

During the primary season, I wonderedwhy the Republicans were almost endorsinghim. I shrugged it off, rationalizing that theythought he'd be a weaker candidate than HillaryClinton. The "messiah-like" stagings of hiscampaign also struck a discordant note with me.

Now I feel unsettled, and vaguely afraid.I'm looking for a story, an explanation, of whomwe really elected. I'm sure he's not the Beast oreven a socialist. I just hope I get an answerbefore 2012, or I'll never rest in peace. []

If we had only known that this cosmiccycle of consciousness evolution was anorganic, natural work-in-progress in era-2012,then we could have corked our oil wells-andmissile silos-to prepare for the pole shift. Thedamage to the ecology would have beenminimized, energy resources conserved, food,water stored and thus survival en mass of themajority maximized.

To the point, we committed ecologicalsuicide, self-destructed environmentally. In areal way, we choked to death on the toxic fumesof our economy: the agricultural, biological,chemical, medical, petroleum gases and nuclearwaste products at the exact time we needed tobe wise as serpents and harmless as doves withrespect to the treatment of each other and Gaia.She instinctually wanted our species to survivein larger numbers than it did even if we did not.

Tragically we ignored the cries of Gaiaand stung by an obscure beauty queen beepriestess in Alaska, chanting with her thispolitical mantra as we died from asphyxiation:"Drill Baby Drill!"

Of course, we were also warned by theshamans not to clear-cut the canopy forests andvines in the jungles of the Amazon to raise thecattle for cheeseburger corporations. For thesegreen fields were the living lung bronchioles ofthe earth. Yet we ignored the indigenouswisdom keepers when they counseled that wewere spiritually barking up, as well asscientifically stripping down, the wrong tree:The World Tree.

Then the UFOs came to us in 1947 afterwe sent them mushroom cloud smoke signalsthat the apes on earth were armed anddangerous, playing passionately but without alicense, with the elements of fire gods: nuclearweapons in WWII.

For example, an ethnobotanist, TerenceMcKenna (1946-2000), issued an expertopinion in what must have been then a legalcourt document, California UFO, 2:2 (1987),subtitled Oversoul Takes Shape in anArchetypal UFO, to wit:

To compound our crises, we continuedto consume our natural resources at anunsustainable rate of renewal in pursuit of"shiny objects." The gold, silver, oil, timber andrelated consumer goods produced from ourweapons of mass manufacturing mesmerized allof us and thus we were thinned-out, like weeds,by the Sun to restore the "magnetic" viability ofthe remaining ecosystem.

In the end, we became more trouble thanwe were worth. Although the ultimate cause ofour civilization's collapse was not the galactic-sun-earth changes alone but the inability toadapt to the challenges fast enough. It was ouraddiction to pleasure and painkillers thatslowed reflexes to the warning signals thatsealed our fate for we did not sense the need tocooperate nationally and internationally toreduce our military-industrial complex footprinton nature in time.

Prepare for solar storms, climatechanges, and a pole shift into an Ice Age: Thewarnings came from every corner of the globein the form of mythology not just NASA.

William Gaspar, M.D. in Taos, NewMexico counseled me a decade ago, "The Ankhsymbolizes the North polar axis shift or themovement of the ‘Tree.' When the Cosmic Treestands tall and becomes stable, then we cancelebrate the renewal of life, the creation of aNew World in essence. The [World] Tree itselfbecomes the tool of the creator to allow renewalof all life forms after the fire, earthquakes,absence of the sun in the sky from volcanicashes, and the flood subsides."

The World Tree was indeed shaking itsbranches and leaves worldwide, talking to usthrough earthquakes, war drums, and so werethe Ankh and "aliens." This client John E. Macknicknamed "Nona" was abducted by "manyrobed hooded beings." Soon thereafter she saw"a shaft of liquid crystalline light was enteringthrough the top of my head. ... He was holdinga gold Ankh, an Egyptian symbol of enduringlife, and ‘he tells me this is magic,'" as Dr.Mack, a Harvard University psychiatrist at thatmoment, faithfully reported in Passport to theCosmos.

Adrian Gilbert added in Signs in theSky, "The placing of the Ankh, or key of life,into the lock is connected with the movementsof the sun and the precession of the equinoxes.

For the last 13, 000 years or so, the constellationof Orion and in particular his ‘hand' has beendrifting steadily north. Today it is in its mostnortherly position before it begins to movesouth again in a rhythmic cycle that takes26,000 years to complete. As a result the sunnow occupies the ‘shake-hands' position overthe outstretched hand of Orion exactly at thesummer solstice. I see this as indicating that theopening of the stargate with the Ankh will occuraround this time."

Moreover, the near-death experience ofLou Famoso was so crystal-clear and graphic interms of what was coming that I showcased hisvisions in my book and DVD. Specifically Louwas shown by Archangel Gabriel that the poleshift sequence was initiated after a comet-likeenergy source crashed into the Sun. Then twocoronal mass ejections (CMEs) that wereejected from our Sun began spewing hugefireball tails of "ectoplasm" -- or life forceenergy ch'i -- that struck the poles of the planetlike a fire-breathing dragon, or rattlesnake: aserpent with a big wide mouth, fiery set offangs, and sting hotter than the scorpion.

Indeed, the Age of Aquarius manifestedas foretold it would by the myths: at thecompletion of the 13,000-year reset of the26,000-year celestial "fire and ice" calendarcycle. Opening the spigot to this "star gate"pipeline of ch'i, the natural energy source of theuniverse, was akin to drinking from the end of acosmic fire hose for the planet and people. Itwas this paradigm shattering power ofkundalini, the coiled serpent lying dormantwithin the core of the earth, sun, galaxy-and ourspines-that hit us like a lightning bolt, like athief in the night, out-of-a clear blue sky in era-2012.

McKenna was not a lone voice crying inthe wilderness either but did we listen to "tree-hugging" environmentalists? But, if so, did weact, for example, by changing our consumerlifestyles, create organic gardens and renewableenergy resources? No we lumbered along likethere was no tomorrow-and then there wasn'tone-at least as we had known them in the goodold days.

Founder of Borderland SciencesResearch Associates, N. Meade Layne, wrote inThe Ether Ship and Its Solution: "The shapesand vehicles and entity operating them form onebeing, just as a human being is a psychophysicalmind-body unity. The body of this etherianentity is a thought form which can go anywhere,and penetrate our earth and seas as easily as ourair."

Of course, psychoanalyst C. G. Jungcame to this same conclusion that I did tooultimately: myth is fact and matter is mind. For instance, my youngest daughter,Kim, age 20 then, was the most disturbed fromher contact experience, so I conducted animmediate hypnotic session to give her somerelief from the strain she was under. It was clearthat Kim had experienced a deep psychologicalshock of some type. She had the classicsymptoms of trauma -- nervousness, disorientedideations, and rapid speech. This was totallyuncharacteristic of her.

made sense to me at all. No one could have beenmore dumbfounded than I was to listen to whatmy girls saw as the turning of the localmountain ranges into a lush jungle habitat forapes and chimpanzees with human-looking menplaying with them. Say what?

Many years later, after reviewing theliterature on UFOs, I speculated my childrenmay have been communicating telepathically,symbolically, with these monkeys and men?Again, I did not know but it was as if acataclysmic change had occurred in climate andwhat were once evergreen forests had beenaltered, shape shifted into a semi-tropicalhabitat for species native to Africa and theAmazon.

How did weather patterns, if not thehemispheres, get turned upside down? Do poleshift symptoms begin with climate changes,crop circles, telepathy, near-death experiences,ghosts, and UFOs too, because we areswallowed whole by the zero-point field? Thatis, we come in close contact with the supremesource of magnetic power that createseverything in existence: The Mind of Godwithin the Galactic Center?

Ironically, I recalled, as I rested on mycot in the tent provided me that brisk evening atthe conference what science writer John Whitehad written that fell on myth-challenged deafand dumb ears: "If we avoid or ignore thepossibility of a pole shift, we will have onlyourselves to blame should there be acataclysmic repeat of the ‘myth' of Atlantis":The Great Flood.

Before I fell asleep, I also mentallyreviewed the notes I had gathered and savedfrom Wikipedia way-back when that added thisinsight into my investigations now that still ringtrue: "The most frequently occurring theory ofclassical elements, held by the Hindu, Buddhist,Japanese and Greek systems of thought, is thatthere are four elements, namely Earth, Water,Air, Fire, which are currently associated withthe four known states of matter (solid, liquid,gas and plasma) and a fifth element knownvariously as space, Idea, Void."

The five elements of light and how theyinteracted were what we had cleverlycompartmentalized, vouchsafed into parlorgames: for instance, astrology and the Zodiac(Circle of Animals), I Ching (Book of Changes),and Tarot. Although we still forgot the meaningto these mnemonics that we had left behindcenturies ago to rediscover: they were thememory-aides required to completely decipherthe DNA programs. These genetic maps containour Hero's Journey on earth, the thousand-ormore-faces we have worn throughout oureternal lifetimes climbing up and down, andobviously falling off often The World Tree.

Much as Daniel Pinchbeck had shared inBreaking Open the Head: A PsychedelicJourney into the Heart of ContemporaryShamanism, speaking to the insights ofRomanian scholar of religion Mircea Eliade:"The underworld, the center of the earth, and the‘gate' of the sky are situated on the same axis,and in past times it was by this axis that passagefrom one cosmic region to another waseffected."

Furthermore, Pinchbeck captured thekey theme to shamanism from the personalrelationship he had cultivated with the "plantteachers" himself in Africa and the Amazon.Quoting historian William Irwin Thompson, hereminded me that the shaman is a "transformerwho takes in powerful energies, steps themdown, and turns them into a weaker alternatingcurrent that can be used in all the homes of theordinary folk."

The shaman, in other words, shape shiftsthe invisible forces of nature, the "spirits,"within his own consciousness symbolically to

walk between worlds. That is, past, present, andfuture reality is magically alteredsimultaneously when we tell ourselves a newstory of who we are, why we are here, and whatoutcome it is we want to see manifest. This iswhat Wilson Van Dusen meant when declaring,"The great spiritual adventurers found thewhole of creation and every part of it symbolic,"in Seeing through Symbols: Insights into Spirit.

Thus, it were these aforementionedimages of the Ankh to the Egyptians, theCrooked Cross of Christ to the Gnostics, andThe World Tree to the Cabbalists that hauntedme the most late at night into the wee morninghours as I valiantly searched for the formula tothe ceremonies, the rituals initiating "familytrees" into the eternal "mysteries of life anddeath."

I spent every waking hour searching forthe secret to trance meditation protocols used toturn on the ch'i, the life force flow of hydrogengas plasma in our subtle solar body cellmeridians to activate our "light body double" tosoul travel. I mean if you really could enter andleave your physical body at will, how could"death' hold you in fear anymore? Why wouldwe give our power-and our hard earned money-away to utility companies, indeed only becausewe felt powerless! Was the operation of ch'i inthe cosmos the solved riddle of the Sphinx?

Understanding the symbol of Ankhopens the gateway to the stars for those thatseek its life-enhancing gene growing powerconsciously or, in most cases and especiallymine, unconsciously. Distinguished biochemistColm Kelleher, Ph.D., formerly of the NationalInstitute for Discovery Science, in Las Vegas,Neveda, made these deeply profound assertionsin his article titled "Retrotransposons asEngines of Human Bodily Transformation" inthat: "There are unusual physical, as well aspsychological consequences in humans to theattainment of the exalted state of mind known asenlightenment, nirvana, or samadhi. Thesereported changes include, but are not limited to,sudden reversal of aging, emergence of a lightbody and observed bodily ascension into thesky."

In particular, Dr. Kelleher determinedmutations were taking place within our speciesfrom our willing-and unwilling-participation inmeditative trancelike states such as near-deathexperiences (NDEs), close encounters with ETs(extraterrestrials), and UFOs. That is to say,UFOs are "hyperdimensional," beings of lightwithin the zero-point field, albeit living

expressions of language in their "pure energy"thought forms: angelic, alien, archetypal-symbolic, or in other words, shape shiftingshamans.

More so, the end-of-time means thatspace itself is mutating: there is in fact anintensification of cosmic consciousness goingon here and now that is weaving other specieswith us into a new heaven and new earth realm.This is trauma incarnate for people and planet:what the astrologers and alchemists tracked asthe precession of the equinoxes, the shift of theages into Zep Tepi-First Time-and Egyptianpharaohs knew as the Eternal Return of theSun/Son of God: Ra.

In The Voice of the Earth, TheodoreRoszak proclaimed "...what may have beenoverlooked by the Gaians in their oftensentimental depiction of the Goddess is the darkside of the matriarchal tradition. Not all EarthMothers are endowed with loving kindness andmercy: some, like Kali and Hecate, are hard,often, chastising parents. Sekhmet, the terriblelion-headed Goddess of Egypt, once sought todevour the entire human race for itsdisobedience. [James] Lovelock has warned ofthat. Gaia, is in his view, "stern, and tough,always keeping the world warm andcomfortable for those who obey the rules, butruthless in her destruction of those whotransgress."

Sekhmet is the Egyptian "cat," the fiercefighter lioness deity protector of the pharaohs,also known as Suns/Sons of God. She was thedaughter of the new Sun God, Ra, after his cultsupplanted the worship of Horus, the son ofOsiris and Isis, who gave birth daily to the risingof the sun on the horizon. Her name means theOne Before Whom Evil Trembles, the Mistressof Dread, and the Lady of Slaughter.

Sekhmet protected the pharaoh in battle,destroying enemies with fiery arrows, jaggedthunder bolts of lightning. In fact, she took onthe bright glare of the midday sun, hence hertitle: the Lady of Flame. She was a conduit forserpentine kundalini-ch'i-using the dark side oflight to bring disease and the bright side toprovide cures to ills that she created from theimbalance of the bipolar yin-yang fields ofelectricity-magnetism within the zero-pointfield. That is the way she created change andmovement of matter at all levels of creation-subatomic to galactic: Sekhmet representspolarization of consciousness into twocomponents: male and female, good and evil,light and dark, positive and negative, and so on.

In accordance with the laws of energy,Sekhmet then healed a person by bringing theirtwo brain hemispheres back into balance byunifying them through trance meditation. This tautology I recalled from a militaryinstructor in my basic electronics radar class inthe Army: "The same energy in microwaveovens that cooks your meals can cook yourgoose faster!" The motto "Better Living throughChemistry" was a cult cry that became theopening hymn of our pagan, country-dweller,religion that worshipped green money-not theGreen Man, the Lady of Light, or the WorldTree, and there was no choice but to begin thecountdown to pole shift in era-2012. Dirty airand water decimated millions in ill-conceivedcities that did not follow the natural flow ofFeng Shui, ch'i, but we really shit in our nestwith nuclear wastes. However, the worst casescenario we came to regret was oil used infarming, food, and medicine: the agrichemicals-herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, andfertilizers-created a toxic chemical soup mix

with a fever that threatened our immunesystems and the earth itself with sterility andmass species extinction in the 21st century.

In thisform he can be most frequently and easily seentoday in numerous churches all across northernEurope. One of the foremost scholars on thistopic, William Anderson, expanded on thismythological Robin Hood theme in Green Man:The Archetype of Our Oneness with the Earth:"There are legends of him (Khidr) in which, likeOsiris, he is dismembered and reborn; andprophecies connecting him, like the Green Man,with the end of time. His name means the GreenOne or Verdant One, he is the voice ofinspiration to the aspirant and committed artist.He can come as a white light or the gleam on ablade of grass, but more often as an innermood."

Those that read my book, before thepole shift made it obsolete, know I had "seen thelight" and felt compelled to share what I learnedabout apocalyptic eschatology: end-of-timescriptures, scenarios, mythology, visions, andhow to apply those insights to environmentalactivism and human wellness.

In the words of Chief Seattle, I was thevoice of Gaia-and Sekhmet. That is to say, all ofour inspiration does in fact come from thepower centers of ch'i: the light of intelligencerecycling through the core of the atom, Earth,Sun, Galaxy. This is indeed what the Mayans,for example, called the home of the "God ofgods" or Hunab Ku. They were correct. Manynear-death experiencers have confirmed that istrue now beyond a reasonable doubt.

For example, former atheist artprofessor at Northern Kentucky University butnow Reverend Howard Storm was transportedto the center of a galaxy during his NDE by abeing of light. Finding himself hovering in deepstarry space, sensing overwhelming feelings oflove and compassion for creation and him, hewept tears of joy. In 2013, the earth will be attacked fromspace, with one possible outcome being mind-bogglingly severe disruption to our tech-centricway of life.

"The sun is waking up from a deepslumber, and in the next few years, we expect tosee much higher levels of solar activity," saysRichard Fisher, head of NASA's HeliophysicsDivision. "At the same time, our technologicalsociety has developed an unprecedentedsensitivity to solar storms."

Fisher's comments came during the run-up to last week's Space Weather EnterpriseForum 2010, at which scientists gathered todiscuss how to prepare for the massive solarstorms set to strike the earth in 2013.

"We know it is coming but we don’tknow how bad it is going to be," Fisher told theDaily Telegraph. "It will disrupt communicationdevices such as satellites and car navigations,air travel, the banking system, our computers,everything that is electronic. It will cause majorproblems for the world."

The earth has been battered by solarstorms before, but never has civilization been sovulnerable, since it's now so dependent uponboth electrical and electronic infrastructure.

In pre-electronic and barely electrical1859, a "perfect space storm" shorted outtelegraph lines in the US and Europe, causingnumerous fires. It also made the NorthernLights visible as far south as Rome, Havana andHawaii, according to NASA — contemporaryaccounts relate how a group of campers in theRocky Mountains were awakened by an"auroral light, so bright that one could easilyread common print. Some of the party insistedthat it was daylight and began the preparation ofbreakfast."

In 1921, a solar storm induced groundcurrents that crippled the New York transitsystem. In 1989, another solar storm broughtdown the entire Quebec power grid due to thosepesky ground currents, and plunged six millionpeople into darkness on a cold, cold Canadiannight.

Fischer sees serious trouble ahead fromthe 2013 peak solar activity attacks. "I think theissue is now that modern society is so dependenton electronics, mobile phones and satellites,much more so than the last time this occurred,"he said. "There is a severe economic impactfrom this. We take it very seriously. Theeconomic impact could be like a large, majorhurricane or storm."

That economic impact could be a "spaceweather Katrina," according to a 2008 reportfrom the US National Academies of Sciences'Space Studies Board entitled Severe SpaceWeather Events: Understanding Societal andEconomic Impacts.

"Strong auroral currents, which wreakedhavoc with the telegraph networks during the[1859] event," the report warns, "can disruptand damage electric power grids and maycontribute to the corrosion of oil and gaspipelines.

"Economic and societal costs

attributable to impacts of geomagnetic stormscould be of unprecedented levels," the reportconcludes. The cost of hurricane Katrina,estimated to be between $81bn and $125bn,would be piddling when compared to the effectof a "future severe geomagnetic stormscenario," which the report estimates could runas high as $1 trillion to $2 trillion in the firstyear. Depending on damage, the reportcontends, full recovery could take 4 to 10 years.

Scary estimates, indeed, but — as withthat other scary eventuality, global climatechange — preparation could help mitigate theeffects of another "perfect space storm".

Fisher told the Telegraph thatprecautions could include, for example, creatingpower-grid backup systems so that iftransformers or giant load-balancing capacitorsare fried by a solar outburst, Plan B could gointo effect. "If you know that a hazard is coming... and you have time enough to prepare and takeprecautions, then you can avoid trouble," hesaid.

You can keep tabs on what the sun isthrowing at us at the US National Oceanic andAtmospheric Administration's Space WeatherPrediction Center. But don't worry too much —after all, if the Mayan calendar is correct, weneed not fret about 2013.

Recent earthquakes include last nightsaftershock of the Mexicali earthquake whichstruck in the heart of the Mexican desert with a7.2 quake on Easter Sunday. The aftershocktook its time in coming but still measured 5.7 onthe Richter Scale and according to Kate Hutton,a seismologist for CalTech, such things are to beexpected and are in no way out of the ordinary.Then a day before yesterday on the 13th of Junea 6.1 quake struck off the coast of the Japaneseisland Honshu. A day before that a 7.5 quakestruck off the coast of the Nicobar Islandsprovince of India and a Tsunami warning wasissued.

The trend of the recent earthquakesshows more concentration on the coastalcountries touching the Pacific Ocean. FromAsia to North America almost all coastalregions have been affected by tremors of somesort with the more affected regions being EastAsia and Easter Australian regions.

Wopperer received $16,900 from hisinsurance company in 2000 when he reportedthe theft of 212 ties, and received $33,370 inJanuary 2009 when he claimed a collection ofthe same size had been taken from his vehicle.However, after submitting a claim six monthslater claiming the ties he purchased asreplacements were stolen, investigatorsdetermined he had been buying ties andimmediately returning them so he would havereceipts to back up his theft claims. Charlotte - Tim Peeler who lives in ClevelandCounty North Carolina called police in earlyJune to report a Sasquatch had killed one of hisfive dogs.

Tim Peeler was calling coyotes when theSasquatch turned up. The Bigfoot was aroundten feet tall, which is what most people expectwhen it comes to the mythical creatures.However, the creature was not dark-haired, butinstead had yellow-blond hair, reported theCharlotte Observer. Peeler, who lives in thewoods and rolling hills of Cleveland Countysaid the Sasquatch had beautiful hair. After aninvestigation, police wrote up the incident as a"suspicious person report."

The Charlotte Observer was able toaccess and release to the public the original 911call Peeler made to the police. In the call, Peelerdoes not sound distressed.

"This beast, a thing ... my dog ... I've gotfive dogs ... and I shined a light on this thing butI would not shoot it ... It looked like an ape witha man's face but I was afraid to kill it."

Peeler was afraid to shoot the beast,thinking that might land him into legal trouble.Peeler told the police the same creature hadreturned repeatedly to his home that evening.Peeler is an experienced hunter.

Sargent Mark Self told NewsChannel 36the police would attempt to apprehend thecreature if they encountered it, but they weremore concerned with running into an angrybear, reported the Charlotte Observer.

Described as a mountain man, Peelerhas said he had seen the same Sasquatch severaltimes in the past few years.

Apparently Cleveland County was a hotspot for bigfoot sightings some 30 years ago,but the stories had died away, leaving the regionwith a legend. The lone legendary Sasquatchwas called Knobby, reported the Shelby Star.The Shelby Star was the first newspaper to runPeeler's sighting, and the story has since goneviral.

Knobby also generated an enormousamount of interest in the late 1970s, and peopletravelled from all over to try to spot the creature. Police were not able to confirm or deny Peeler'ssighting. []

For a guy who oversees 700 employees and anannual budget of $70 million, Ed Carter got offto a rather inglorious start with the TennesseeWildlife Resources Agency.

He lost a bear."It was back in 1973, and I'd just been

hired with the Information and Educationdivision," said Carter, 61, who now serves asexecutive director of the state's wildlife andfisheries activities. "One of my first jobs was to

put on the wildlife exhibit at county fairs."I was driving back from Memphis and

crossed a bridge near Waverly. It was about 2o'clock in the morning. Another driver clippedthe bridge and rammed into the trailer I wastowing."

Inside that trailer was a 200-pound blackbear.

"It flipped the trailer into the air. I gotout and checked on the other driver. He wasn'thurt too badly, but I needed to get some help.

"I walked to the other end of the bridgewhere a car was parked. The guy had hiswindow rolled up. I tapped on it, and he finallyrolled it down just a little bit. About the time Istarted to speak, he said, 'Uh, buddy, is that abear behind you?' "

Hmm. Yes, it was.The dazed bruin had survived the wreck

and was walking along the bridge. Carter yelledout to Bruce Anderson, his companion: "Wegotta catch this bear!"

From that point on, Carter's not quitesure whatever happened to the motorist he hadsummoned.

"I just remember me and Bruce trying tocorral that bear," he said. "It didn't work. Thelast I saw of that bear, it went lumbering off intothe night. We never heard of it again.

"But a few weeks later, a radio station inNashville started running reports about Bigfootbeing spotted. They even sent a reporter downthere to investigate. I'd say 'Bigfoot' was thatbear."

A 1971 University of Tennesseegraduate, Carter eventually moved up in theI&E division, then was assigned to boating in1990. He was chief of that section until beingselected in March 2009 to replace Gary Myers,whose 34-year tenure as TWRA director wasthe longest of any state wildlife agency in thenation.

"Gary and I had a quick transition,"Carter said with a chuckle. "It lasted a full hourand a half.

"I came into his office on a Sundayafternoon and he had all these three-ring bindersand manila folders stacked up real high. Theywere everywhere.

"We started with the first page of the

first folder and spent the whole hour and a halfon it. That's when Gary said he had to pick uphis wife, and I was on my own."

Thus began OTJ training."It's been fun and challenging," said

Carter. "I'm glad for the opportunity to lead theagency. The staff has been great."

But he couldn't have arrived at a moreperilous time.

With the economy in a tailspin, dozensof jobs vacant, budgets frozen, numbers ofhunters and anglers flat (and falling in someinstances), the agency faces monetary struggleson a daily basis.

At the same time, Carter has had tocome up to speed on a wide variety of fronts -everything from commercial fishing toendangered species to dealing with legislators.

"One commissioner told me, 'You're onprobation every day.' That's a good definition ofthis job."

What's more, Carter has discovered thatrunning the entire show demands a decidedlyhigher profile than just the boating program.

"I'm starting to adjust to the hecticschedule," he said. "For over a year, I didn'tknow what an 'off weekend' was. Now,sometimes, I even manage to go eat lunch!"

And forget his own outdoor interests.For the time being, Carter's recreation with rod,bow and gun is stored in the "Ancient History"file.

"I enjoy turkey hunting better thananything," he said. "I took my granddaughter onthe opening day of the youth hunt this year. Butthat turned out to be the only time I got in thewoods all spring."

Here are just a few crazydiseases to whet your appetite for the bizarre.

Polyglandular Addison’s disease

Type of Disease: Hormonal disorderCrazy Because: Can cause instantaneous deathfrom sudden emotional distressCure: None, but manageable by medication

In February 2008, media reports swirledaround the story of Jennifer Lloyd, a 10-year-old from Prestwich, who is one of only sixknown sufferers in the U.K. of polyglandularAddison’s disease. Addison’s disease is ahormonal disorder named after Dr. ThomasAddison who first described the disease in1855. The polyglandular form is much rarerthan the ordinary disorder, leaving affectedpatients literally unable to produce adrenaline inresponse to stress. Adrenaline, or epinephrine, isthe “fight or flight” hormone that prepares thebody for action. Without adrenaline, the body’sorgans cannot respond to stress and instead gointo shock and shut down, leaving thoseaffected critically ill. Patients such as Jenniferrequire constant attention and steroidalmedication just to live out their daily lives:"Something as simple as walking the dog can bea worry,” Jennifer’s mother told the BBC. InJennifer’s case, even watching a movie, playingsports or dancing requires strict supervision incase she becomes overly excited. Despite themundane outlook for Jennifer and other patientswith this crazy disease, most can lead normallives with the help of medication.

Reflex sympathetic dystrophy

Type of Disease: Nerve disorderCrazy Because: Causes searing pain as if on fireCure: Complex; disease may spontaneouslyresolve, but treatment usually only lessenssymptoms

Imagine being tormented every waking momentof every day by searing pain in your limbs. Yourarms feel like they are on fire, they are swollen,hot to the touch, and you sweat excessively.These are just a few of the symptoms of reflexsympathetic dystrophy (RSD), a poorlyunderstood disorder defined by pain in the limbsthat is way out of proportion from what isexpected following a particular injury orharmful event, such as surgery or stroke. Thedisease is believed to be caused by an abnormalchain reaction of the sympathetic nervoussystem, the body system that regulates bloodflow and other aspects of the skin. Experts likenthe pain response to that of an engine revvingout of control.

While the disease may spontaneouslydisappear on its own, many patients undergo

intensive treatments for years just to lessen thepain. And for some patients, the pain canbecome so profound that they must undergo themost extreme and expensive of therapies --being placed under a Ketamine coma -- toessentially reset the pain connections of thebody. In 2003, under the guidance of Germancolleagues of renowned RSD specialist Dr.Robert Schwartzman, 14-year-old LindsayWurtenberg of the U.S. underwent Ketaminecoma-therapy and successfully recovered froma particularly debilitating case of RSD thatdeveloped following a harmless spider bite. “Idon’t think there is a worse pain problem,” saidDr. Schwartzman of Lindsay’s condition. Hewas probably right.

Trimethylaminuria

Trimethylaminuria (TMAU), also known as fishmalodor syndrome, is a rare metabolic disorderthat prevents affected individuals from properlybreaking down trimethylamine (TMA), insteadletting it build up in the body. TMA is thenreleased in the breath, sweat, urine, and otherbody secretions, giving off a strong fishy odorthat literally cannot be masked. For people withthis crazy disease, frequent showering and theuse of deodorants, perfumes and colognes arenot enough; the smell remains, sometimesbecoming so strong so as to fill entire rooms oreven auditoriums. The result can be socially andpsychologically devastating: "People think thisdisease is a laughing matter, but for the peoplewho have it, it is not. This syndrome can behighly destructive to a person's personal andsocial life and to their work and career," RobertL. Smith, a molecular toxicologist at theImperial College School of Medicine inLondon, told the Science News.

Currently, there is no cure for TMAU.Affected patients can only reduce the smell byrestricting the diet to foods that are notconverted to TMA -- a daunting taskconsidering that everyday foods like eggs,legumes as well as certain meats and fish allcontain the amino acid choline, a precursormolecule to TMA.

Morgellons disease

Type of Disease: Skin disorderCrazy Because: The disease remains disputed;is it real?Cure: ?

Sometimes you read about something so crazythat you just can’t tell if it’s real -- such is thecase with Morgellons disease, a disorder thatexpands the imagination. As it currently stands,the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC)claims that “the cause of this condition isunknown, and the medical community hasinsufficient information to determine whetherpersons who identify themselves as having thiscondition have a common cause for theirsymptoms or share common risk factors.”

And it’s no wonder why experts remain baffled

-- the symptoms are strangely horrific.According to the Morgellons ResearchFoundation, a nonprofit organization, some ofthe crazy symptoms include skin lesionsaccompanied by pain or intense itching, fibrousmaterial in and extending out of the lesions,crawling sensations like insects under the skinwho are moving, stinging or biting, and jointand muscle pain, among others. The disease isso bizarre that many physicians regardMorgellons disease as delusional parasitosis,but this opinion is neither conclusive norunanimous.

Those affected with the disease,however, are deathly defiant against doubters.Former Oakland A’s pitcher Billy Koch claimsto have the disease; in fact, it forced him towithdraw from baseball, and the former aceoffered some choice words for the public in aninterview with KTVU: “There's no reasonableexplanation for it. I'm not seeing things. l'mwatching it happen. We're pretty sane people,"Billy insisted of his family. The CDC iscurrently conducting a large-scale investigationto once and for all define the existence of thisbizarre and crazy disease.

Like a scene right out of thebizarre, infants with this condition are born withhard, thick skin that forms large diamond-shaped plates or scales that are separated bydeep cracks. Almost all areas of the skin can beaffected disrupting the protective barrierbetween the body and environment. Infantshave difficulty controlling water loss, regulatingbody temperature and fighting off infections.Many newborns thus succumb to dehydration orinfection shortly after birth. For those who dosurvive, the outlook is pretty bleak; only a fewpatients survive into adolescence and veryrarely into adulthood.

The Fox Sisters Cabin

Though less well-known than the otherhaunted places, the Fox Sisters cottage isperhaps the most important haunted house ofall, since the phenomena here in many ways setthe standard for later hauntings and evenlaunched a religion. In 1848 Hydesville,western New York, two young sisters namedMaggie and Katie Fox began supposedlycommunicating with the ghost of a murderedpeddler. The sisters, in a sort of crude seance,would ask questions of the spirit, who wouldanswer back with mysterious knocks or raps.Many people, including their mother, wereamazed at what seemed to be genuine contactwith the dead. Both sisters eventually admittedthat they had actually faked the sounds--therehad been no murdered peddler, it had all been aprank. The women even demonstrated how theyhad done it. But by then the belief had taken ona life of its own as a religion called Spiritualism,which is still practiced today.

The Washington, D.C., home ofAmerica's presidents has surely seen untoldtragedy through the centuries, from beingburned down in 1814 by British troops toseveral attempted (and accomplished)assassinations. Victoriapolice said there were few problems among the5,000 sailors visiting the city for the CanadianNavy's centennial, but one French sailor had abit too much to drink and took off his uniformin the lobby of a hotel, CanWest News Servicereported. Deputy Police Chief John Ducker saidofficers escorted the sailor back to his shipwhere he again slipped out of his clothing whilewaiting to board. Ducker said the ship's captainwas standing behind him during the secondincident. "The punishment a sailor would getfrom his commanding officer is much worsethan anything we can do," police spokesmanSgt. Grant Hamilton said.

Deputies find goat in trunk at

checkpoint

BEDFORD, Va. - Authorities in Virginiasaid they found a goat bound in the trunk of acar stopped at a drunken- driving checkpoint.The Bedford County Sheriff's Office said adeputy heard knocking sounds coming from thetrunk of a car being driven by Fiona AnnEnderdy, 32, of Washington at the BedfordCounty-Campbell County line checkpoint, theLynchburg (Va.) News Advance reportedTuesday. Deputies said Enderdy told deputiesthe sounds were coming from a goat and theanimal was found panting heavily in the trunk.The sheriff's office said an animal controlofficer working at the checkpoint measured thetemperature in the trunk at 94 degrees after ithad already been open for 10 minutes. The goatwas given water and taken to the BedfordCounty pound, deputies said. Enderdy, who wascharged with cruelty to an animal and released,told deputies she purchased the goat from afarmer for the passengers in her car, fourLynchburg residents originally from Kenya.

But nine years ago, a terrible auto accident almostclaimed his life, but he was saved by a "voice" in his car just before the accident that guided him about what to do. Sincethat time, he has been led to explore the meaning of his existence. With this constant exploration, he soon found that hehad skills he never knew he possessed. Among these, Tom has become a well-regarded artist as his works have appearedin a number of shows across Northern California. He has also been featured in local television and radio shows about hismessages and paranormal type events.
