“HOPE IS THE ANCHOR” Hebrews 6:17-19
From the Principal’s Pen… Hello! The March winds are really blowing this morning which makes the cold seem twice as cold. The sun is shin-ing brightly which fools the brain into thinking that it is a beautiful Spring day. That’s a big mistake! We often make mistakes of all kinds. Some are easy to correct with an eraser, but others are difficult to correct and sometimes impos-sible to do so. Those are the ones involv-ing words. Once the words leave the mouth they cannot return. Hurtful words cannot be taken back. This is a hard lesson for children to learn when it first happens. It does happen in all schools. Here at ILS we can explain about forgiveness using the best example of Jesus on the cross. It was difficult to explain to my public school children. I had to use the “What if someone called you a _____. How would you feel?” How blessed are we to be able to teach with Jesus! My message this week is short be-cause I have to continue to work on our Accreditation and we are still looking for next year’s Principal. This all takes a lot of time besides the everyday things that happen that you don’t expect to happen. Sometimes I think the Lord must get tired of me asking Him for a little more patience, but He always listens. Some-times just knowing that makes things all right for me. I know He is always with me! Thank You Lord, for loving me.

Troop 21 Since our last update, in December the Troop held our Survivor Camp (Camp Mattatuck) in Plymouth. The boys were responsible for cooking their own food, map and compass work, several hikes, and of course a little man hunt in the evening. On January 9th, 6 boys attended Merit Badge College, held at Rhode Island College with approximately 1,000 scouts in attendance. The boys could take one full day or two half day merit badge classes.

CUB SCOUT PACK 21
The Cub Scouts of Pack 21 had their annual Church sleepover on Friday, February 19, 2016. Because of work
being done in the Gym, we made do in the Old School Basement where the boys put together their Raingutter
Regatta boats and decorated them, learned a song and a skit, and learned the essential elements of a campfire.
The Cubs then participated in a camp fire program,
watched a movie and set up their tents for a night of
sleeping. The tents were packed in, but everyone
slept well. On Sunday, February 21, 2016, the Boy
Scouts from Troop 21 joined the Cubs for our annual
observance of Scout Sunday. The boys looked sharp
in their uniforms while they participated in a flag cer-
emony to start and end the 8:00am Church Service.
Any boy in the first through fifth grade that is inter-
ested in Cub Scouts should contact Cubmaster Jason
Krueger at [email protected].

praise.

TUITION ASSISTANCE —
It is our goal at Immanuel, that no child should be declined a Christ-centered ed-ucation because of finances. For over 117 years, our school has made Chris-tian Education a centerpiece of it’s minis-try. In order to make this possible, it is vital that we have resources available for tuition assistance. If you would like to contribute to this fund, you can make a donation by simply putting your gift in an envelope clearly marked for Tuition As-sistance. Like any other donation to Im-manuel, this gift is tax-deductible.
Thank you!

HARVEST PACK EVENT SATURDAY, MARCH 5, 2016
Immanuel Lutheran Church is having a food packaging event for Harvest
Pack/Kids Against Hunger. We have raised the funds to purchase food supplies
and supplements to package meals to send to starving families in Haiti. Now we
need volunteers to package the meals. The event will be held in the gymnasium at
Immanuel Lutheran Church, 154 Meadow Street, Bristol.
The packaging is easy, just measuring, weighing and sealing the bags. Please
volunteer with family or friends. Session I from 9:30 – 11:30 IS FULL, but you can
sign up for Session II from 12:00 – 2:30. We need 8 – 9 volunteers for each table.
At some point, you will be able to sample the food we are sending. Each bag con-
tains enough meals to sustain 6 people for a day.
If you would like to join the fun or might need service hours, consider help-
ing us on March 5th. Please pre register by calling Pat Wollenberg at 860-584-
0587 or the church/school office at 860-583-5631 to sign up for a spot.
Thank you in advance for your consideration to help at this event.

Our second annual Immanuel Lutheran Church COLLEGE STUDENT CARE PACKAGES are getting ready to be mailed out to our college students, but WE NEED YOUR HELP IN OBTAINING ADDRESSES! Please call the church office with the mailing address of your college stu-dent, so that they can know that we are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers. Last year’s care packages filled with messages of encouragement, snacks and treats were very warmly received (just in time—the kids were studying for finals) and we look forward to reaching as many students as possible, with your help! Thank you.
