Held as part of a series of 12 Regional Event Development workshops across NSW between August and November, Capital Country Tourism, in conjunction with Tourism New South Wales and Cre8ing Growth will be holding a Regional Event Development workshop in Goulburn on Wednesday 27 October at the Goulburn Soldiers Club.

The aim of the workshop is to help assist communities to develop sustainable events that will attract visitors to the region. The workshops will help event organisers to cultivate skills in staging events and assist event organisers to develop skills to grow their events to reach their full potential.

The workshops are suitable for those looking to start or create a new event, and event managers currently running events who would like to grow and develop existing events. The program also offers online ongoing learning opportunities via a website of resources and webinars for master classes on identified topics.

With only 50 places available and registrations filling fast, interested parties are encouraged to r e g i s t e r q u i c k l y a t www.regionaleventworkshops.com.au. There is no cost to attend.

Windellama Garden Club Our last meeting in August held at Beryl Kremer’s was an enjoyable day out. Our September meeting was at Pam Maher’s Country Charm Alpacas on the 22nd.

Those members who travelled to Sydney for the Garden Show had an excellent day out. The Bundanoon Ramble is also on our list for a day out in October.

Our next meeting is at Sandy Marshall’s home at 10.30am on Wednesday October 13th.

Windellama SES First Aid & CFR

Thank You

On behalf of my team and Hi Quality, I would like to thank your first response team on our medical emergency to Laurie Long, one of our drivers, that required medical assistance yesterday, being Monday the 13th September. Your very capable members, Noel Sylvester, Pat Freebairn & Irene Turner, were very quick in their response to our quarry; and their behaviour and professionalism during the treatment was a testament to their commitment and training.

Thankfully all worked out well for Laurie in what was a very painful and worrying experience for him and for all of us on site. We have taken the event as a dry run so as to help ourselves and your group for any future assistance, so that we can better manage our site and surrounding area in the event of any need for medical assistance.

Once again a sincere thankyou to everyone involved; as you are aware we are quite remote and really need this kind of service as Goulburn is a good 50 klms from us.

Thanks again, Garry Stafford

Last month we had one call out, this month (September) we have had six. I thank those people who have said how much they appreciate the service provided by our team as Community First Responders to the Ambulance Service. There is always a new challenge just around the corner, this is what makes the job all the more interesting.

I would like to remind people of the approaching "allergy" season. Be sure to carry any prescribed medicine with you at all times.

May I please remind people, who are unfortunate enough to have any form of Diabetes to also carry with them their Glucometer and prescribed medication, I can't emphasise this enough.

Please take care. From your S.E.S / C.F.R. team.

Kevin Muffet.

Windellama School P & C P&C on the hunt for baby animals

With November just around the corner the P&C is once again looking to borrow young, child-friendly animals to put in the petting nursery at the Windellama Small Farms Field Day. If anyone has any suitable animals and is willing to lend them to us, please let the P&C know via the school. The last couple of months of the year are always busy in the P&C calendar. This year is no different. On 2nd October we'll be hosting children's activities at Nerriga's big road celebrations and in November, of course, there's the Field Day. There'll be face painting, biscuit decorating (how many lollies can you cram onto one biscuit?), jumping castles and all the traditional entertainment at both events. At Nerriga, we're organising something a little bit different with a variety of races for all ages. Every participant wins a prize, so come along with your running shoes on, get involved and have some fun. Next P&C meeting: Monday 11 October, 6.30pm at the school
