Unto the populace of Aneala

Does Baron Kilic and Baroness Branwen send greetings.

We have had a wonderful start to a very busy month with the Arabian Nights event run by House Annwn. We had an eastern archery shoot with Turkish tar-gets which proved an interesting challenge. This was followed by a tournament involving a corsair ship boarding a merchant ship. The conniving corsairs were defeated by the munificent merchants 2 to 1.

We also had A&S competitions including one for best Eastern Garb won by Duena Catalina and a best hat which was won by Lady Alienore. In addition, we were able to recognise two members of our populace for their service to the Barony. So please extend your heartfelt congratulations to the recipients of the Demi Sun - Lord Dino d’Malta and Lard Ydenya de Baillencourt. In addition, we would like to thank the stewards, their helpers and those who attended and participated for making this a most enjoyable day.

We had a great time at Collegia with our visitors, master Del , Master Crispin and Mistress Joan, who taught various aspects of music dance, pewter casting and bookbinding. It was well attended and many people seemed to be very happy and learned a lot. Thankyou to Mistress Catherine and her team for a great time.

On the Saturday night we had the ball d’Aneala where our musicians out did themselves by playing every dance set a total of about 37 dances. Well done. We also celebrate our new Bard of Aneala Lady Alanna Galliwoode. Our Rose Bardic Champion was Lady Aoife inghean Ui Conchobhair thankyou for per-forming your position so well.

Thankyou again to Mistress Catherine and her team as well as those who pro-vided such a sumptuous pot luck feast.

Also to our herald and Court members.

Combat archery practice was held from 1pm on Sunday the 23rd down at Wandi. It was a chance to practice techniques and learn about archery tactics.

The last but not the least is Championship.

We had a number of people present themselves as candidates for the various championship positions and we were impressed by the number and quality of the fighters. Our champions had laid out what form each championship event would be.

Who were the Champions?

They are people of great skill and commitment to the Barony and the SCA. They love playing this game. They are honourable and are full of courteous-ness.

Our Out Going Champions and Admitted to the Hearth Troop were

Armoured Champion was Lord Dino d’Malta

Rapier Champion was Lady Alanna Galliwoode

Archery Champion was Lady Celestria Ashwood,

A&S Champion was Mistress Catherine d’Arc who did make a perpetual token of a black Swan brooch for the next Champions.

Our new Champions who fought valiantly and with honour were

Armoured Champion is Sir Nathan Blacktower

Rapier Champion is Lord Column Mac Diarmata

Archery Champion is Lady Renonys de la Fueille,

A&S Champion is Lady Helen Hartshorne

Our deep thanks to our outgoing ladies in waiting who did give us great support and advice during the last year, we recognised them with Baroness’s Cyphers.

Lady Renonys de la Fueille, Lady Ydeneya Baillencourt, Lady Elouise of Aachenfeld, Lady Alessandra de Florenza and Lady Cinara Baraceco.

We welcome Lady Cara di Lupo, Lady Vienna de Rossi, Lady Isobel de An-nesley and Lady Rosemond de Montfort for offering their Services for the next year as Ladies in Waiting.

Thank you to all our contestants and their wonderful consorts. The fighting had us on the edge of our seats as they were closely fought and won.

We would also like to extend our thanks to Lady Celestria for running the event, especially under such trying circumstances and to those who ably as-sisted her.

There were many in the kitchen for the different meals, there were those who helped set up and take down. There were Marshals, Heralds, List keepers and Court attendants, thankyou for your time and contributions, without which we would not have had such a great event.

Well done all.

Congratulations to also Lady Rosemond de Montfort, our latest addition to the Order of the Demi Sun.

Our next event will be Toys for Tots on Dec 4th, a worthwhile cause to support those kids in need. Event details will be posted soon.

As always, please send recommendations and any questions you may have.

Yours in service

Baron Kilic and Baroness Branwen
