The Victorian Age- England ( c. 1800’s

Women; long dresses/ skirts, hats or bonnets Children; miniature versions of their parents

In the Victorian Age, everyone seemed to have very fancy clothes to ware on daily basis. It looks like they always wanted to present themselves nicely.

Clothing

School Only a few kids actually went ( rich )

Poor children worked instead of attending school Some couldn’t afford it.

Education in the Victorian age wasn’t as important as it is today. Many people grew up without education and thought they didn’t need it. If kids did go to school , they were rich and probably a majority of the children that went were boys because girls stayed home to work on household chores.

The church of England seemed to be very powerful. They thought they were better then all the churches in town, they were very educated and some people in other churches didn’t even go to school.

Homes Built from the same material: local stone, timber, straw,

Not many people had cars Cramped : one family in one room , multiple families in one house

Daily Life

Working class- paid daily, or weekly wages. Middle Class- paid monthly or annually. Upper class- income came from inherited land and

investments Criminal classes- burglars, mudlarks, smash and grab

went to sea, city streets( selling flowers, bows, ribbions ) Started work at age 5

Their families needed money

Children in The Victorian Age had a lot of responsibility.They were expected to support their families whether they wanted to or not. Instead of going to school at the age of 5 , they went to work to make money if their family was becoming poor.
