On October 24 we woke up extremely early
before the break of dawn. It was a very special
day, a day to remember. For the very first time,
in the history of Tranquility High school, we
were chosen to be broadcasted live, on channel
47. Football players, cheerleaders, volleyball
players, students and staff all gathered together
at the gym for this special event.
Gaby Rodriguez was reporting live from the
tiger’s gymnasium, with the amazing students of
Tranquility High School cheering and supporting
their beloved football players for that night’s
matchup against their league foes, the Dos Palos
Broncos. It all started at 4:15 a.m. when the bus
picked up people from all over the district.
When they arrived they were given free t-shirts
and spirit sticks. Our principal started the rally
and a special poem was read. After this,
leadership students introduced our
three staff veterans. They are Mr.
Dominguez, who served in the Marines
for 4 years, Mr. Mackey, who served in
the navy for over 20 years, and Mr.
Kendall who served in the navy for over
20 years as well. We are very proud
and honored to have them as our
teachers and colleagues. We want to
take another moment to thank our
veterans for their service to our coun-
try. Thank you all.
On November 12, we held a veter-
ans day observance on mall during
lunch. Veterans Day is on Novem-
ber 11th, which is a day we have off
school and many businesses close
this day as well. This is to honor all
those who serve or have served in
any branch of the military of the
United States. During this ob-
servance, the national anthem
played and everyone saluted the
flag. Leadership students gave some
military data from the last 100 years

with a “Good Morning Tigers!” The band played,
while the cheerleaders danced. They inter-
viewed our A.S.B president, Genevieve Alvarez
and our football captain, Aaron Tafoya. They
also interviewed our cross country captain Edu-
ardo Arias, and our Volleyball captain Jennifer
Zamora. The sport captains and Gaby participat-
ed in a mini tricycle race. There were also many
other spectacular events which included: a dance
battle in which students and staff members par-
ticipated. Some of the staff members that partic-
ipated in the dance battle were: our principal,
Mr. Atoian, Ms. Gaytan, Mrs. Sandoval, Coach
Sandoval, and our special guest, Mr. Cruz, our
superintendent. Overall, everyone had a great
time, and at the end of the rally everyone re-
ceived a special breakfast of burritos cooked by
the parent club. Go Tigers!!!!!!!!!!!!

our Principal introduced the October students of
the month who are Azucena Luquin, Crystal Sanchez, Daniel Vallejo, and Cindy Alvarez. The
senior cheerleaders impressed us with their awe-
some dancing skills which got everyone pumped
up for our first game witch was carve the pump-
kin.
Our Fear Fest consisted of four games it
was a mess with our game “Aiming the Candy
Corn” this game consisted of two people per class
one student had its face full of whip cream while
the other student had to aim the candy corn to
the other student’s face. This game just got the crowd wanting another one. Our last game was
“Bobbing for Apples” we had four students per
class they had to run down to the bucket full of
water and apples from there they ran back to high
five the next person the class that finished all their
apples wins. Fear Fest ended with a lot of excite-
ment. Tranquillity students really showed their
spirit and the rally was a tie between the Fresh-
man and Seniors. Written by: Lizette Martinez
Student Life: Have you considered having a picnic at a cemetery? Probably not!
Well, Mexico and other parts of Central and South America have been having picnics at graveyards on two special days: November 1st and 2nd where we celebrate El Día de los Muertos or Day of the Dead.
On this traditional holiday death and the cycle of life are being honored. November 1st is known as El Día de los Angelitos or Saint’s Day, where babies, infants, and teenagers who have passed away are being
remembered. On the other hand, November 2nd is known as Día de
los Difuntos or Soul’s Day, and this day all adults who passed away are being honored. On these two days, people don’t tend to be sad
because they know that their loved ones are still present. People gather in local cemeteries to share food, music, and fun with their loved ones, both living and departed ones. The celebration
acknowledges that we still have a relationship with our ancestors and loved ones that have passed away. Another component of this holiday is the shrines. Every shrine is
dedicated to a loved one who has passed away. You will see a picture of that person, pan de muerto (bread of the dead), candles, papel picado (colorful paper), and his/her favorite food. By having these
shrines, we also acknowledge that the soul of that loved one will be reunited with us during those two days. As for Tranquillity High School, the Spanish Club participated in this activity to remember those loved ones who have passed away and to
be part of the Hispanic culture. As their teacher, it is essential that my students become aware and learn their traditions to keep them alive as well to have a cultural identity.
They did an outstanding job! ¡Buen trabajo muchachos!

On Friday October 31, 2014 Tran-
quillity High Leadership students organized a
Fear Fest rally in honor of Halloween and the
Tranquillity vs. Mendota game. The excitement started when the seniors did their grand en-
