Select yourstate licensing board from the drop-down list on the right to view instructions for gettingapproved to take an exam. Contact your licensing board if you have questions about theapproval process before then. Beginning July 6, you will be able to register online withNCEES to create your My NCEES account and reserve your seat for the exam.

The Tennessee Board of Land Surveying Examiners

At the April 2010 Board meeting, a public hearing was held for the proposed ruleschanges. The document was finalized and has been submitted to the Attorney

General’s Office for final review. It is anticipated that the new rules will be in effect byJanuary 2011.

The mission of the Tennessee Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors is to serve thecitizens of Tennessee by efficiently and effectively providing a fair, flexible and positiveregulatory environment for consumer service industries. Our goal is to assure that everylicensee has met the minimum qualifications prior to being granted a license.

How do I register?You must first apply to the Tennessee board for approval to sit forthe exam. Visit the board’s Web site for the appropriate forms,instructions, and fee information. After the board has notified you ofyour approval, register online with NCEES to reserve your seat forthe exam. You will not be required to pay additional exam feeswhen registering through the NCEES Web site.

Exam authorizationNCEES will e-mail you 2-3 weeks before the exam with a link todownload and print your exam authorization notice. Read itcarefully. You will be required to present this document along with avalid, government-issued photo ID upon arrival at the exam site.

ResultsNCEES releases exam results to the Tennessee surveying board8–10 weeks after the exam date. The board will then notify you ofyour exam results.
