THE TARF TRIBUNE TARF BACKGROUND Tarf Homewares Company was established in 2017, in Clontarf on the Redcliffe Peninsula. Tarf’s founders, Liam & Kay saw a massive amount of wastage in the disposal of materials- such as furniture, wood, metals and glass and thought: “This is not right- there has to be a better way!” They set up a workshop in the Clontarf Industrial Area- stuck their necks out and Tarf the Giraffe & Tarf Homewares Company was born. Their unique history and the Tarf DNA is captured and reflected in every piece they lovingly create. HOW WE DO IT Liam “cut his teeth” on metal as a Fitter & Turner in the 1970’s and has developed a unique skillset, adapting and evolving with the zeitgeists and trends of each decade to ensure each piece has a timeless relevance and will stay with you the customer for generations...

Liam was introduced into wood working by his dad, who built his own timber boat in the 1960’s. It was from this maze of intrigue where timber was being bent and twisted to make a boat frame where Liam thought I could do this. Liam started making his own furniture, and this quickly grew into making pieces for his own daughters, their friends, and then the business started to grow and develop.
