Recent Event: The Oktoberfest held at the American Legion Post #1976 in Annandale was a fun afternoon. The Mount Vernon German Band played lots of great German tunes including some good old Polka music. Visit the Shepherd Center’s Facebook page to see the crowd and the band. Thanks to Teddy for taking pic-tures for our Facebook page. A special thanks goes out to Barry Uhlig and Michael, German food chefs and servers. They did a great job again!

The Shepherd’s Center of Annandale Springfield (SCAS)

SCAS is a non-profit interfaith organization sponsored by area congregations and community groups to serve seniors 50 and older in the Annandale, Springfield, and sections of Alexandria, Virginia. The Potters House Pottery Bowl and Vase Show and Sale On Saturday, December 1st from 11 to 1:30 the Potter’s House will host a Pottery Show and Sale to showcase the most recent work of senior pastor, Dr. Chris Looker. The show will take place in the sanctuary from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will feature a silent auction.

Dr. Looker has been throwing pottery for the last 35 years and has thrown and glazed these large bowls and vases for the show. It will also feature pieces the student potters have made. In addition, members of the FPCA Mission of the Holy Spirit Fellowship will be offering tamales and other delicious Guatemalan food. All proceeds from the sale of this homemade food will go to assist those in Guatemala who are still recovering from the effects of the recent volcanic disaster. Complimentary coffee, lemonade, and cookies will also be available.
