2016 FOREIGN MISSIONS UPDATES KENYA: Because of some extenuating circumstances that have arisen, our Bishop has asked us to postpone our Conference trip to Kenya until the first quarter of 2017. Tentatively, plans are being made for a trip in January 2017. Most trips are 10-12 days in length, with approximate cost $3500, depending on airfare. | BRAZIL: If you are interested in a 2016 foreign mission opportunity, please
consider going to Brazil. We will be taking a team June 17-29, 2016 to the mission in Santa Barbara, run by Rick Bonfim Ministries. The focus of this trip is: personal spiritual formation and
discipleship through Bible study, worship, prayer, and fellowship. Our team will participate in worship and provide altar prayer ministry in several churches. Outreach projects and work near
the mission will also be a part of our trip. The cost for this trip is: $3360 +$160 for a Visa. Contact JoAn Kinrade for an application. Applications need to be processed within the next few
weeks. Personal financial support for this trip would be great to put on your Christmas list! Other ideas for personal fundraising are available, as well.

CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS AND YEAR END: WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU, THE CHURCH, AND THE IRS
Contributors must deliver checks on or by December 31st, 2015 in order to claim a charitable contribution deduction for 2015. Checks that are placed in the church offering during the first worship service in 2016 will not qualify for a charitable contribution deduction in 2015, even if the check is predated to 2015 or was actually written in 2015. However, checks that are written, mailed, and postmarked in 2015 will be deductible in 2015 though they are not received by the church until 2016. The deadline for contributions received in the mail postmarked December 31, 2015 is January 5, 2016. Any contributions received after this date will be applied to 2016. To ensure the deductibility of your church contributions, please do not file your 2015 income tax return until you have received your year-end contribution statement from the church. Under IRS rules, you may lose your deduction for some or all of your contributions if you file your tax return before receiving a written acknowledgement of your 2015 contributions from the church. Year-end contribution statements will be mailed and postmarked no later than January 31, 2016. If you are donating stock, please allow at least four weeks for the funds to be transferred to the church by December 31st or you may miss all of the above deadlines! If the deadlines are missed, your stock contribution will be applied to 2016. -Thank you, The Finance Office

PRESCHOOL NEWS During the Christmas season at preschool, the focus with the children has been on God’s gift to us: Jesus. Each class had a birthday party for Jesus on the last day of
school before Christmas break.
The 4 and 5 year old classes sang Christmas songs at Barnes and Noble during the Book Fair sponsored by the Carnegie Library (pictures on p.5).
Registration is open for our upcoming Children’s Consignment Sale. Visit our website (NFUMCPreschool.org) and follow the prompts to register. Dates for the sale are
February 26 and 27.
Thank you for your support of our preschool. May you all have a safe and blessed Christmas!
Blessings,
-Nancy Martin
