KENNEL CLUB REGULATIONS Extract from Reg FIf an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, theexhibitor may choose one of the following options:-(1) Withdrawal The dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20.(2) Transfer

(a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height the Show Secretaryshall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height or, in theevent of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy class or Puppy class excepted, to the Open class for thecorrect breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

(b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy Class, Puppy Class or Junior Class, which is over age butunder 12 calendar months of age, 18 calendar months of age or 24 calendar months of age respectively, theShow Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy Class, Junior Class or Yearling Class respectively for thecorrect breed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling Class, tothe Open Class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

(c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open Class for the correctbreed, colour, sex, weight or height.

(d) If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog maynot be transferred to any other class.

BEST IN SHOWTHE SHOW WILL BE JUDGED ON THE GROUP SYSTEM

The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by any other dog exhibited at the sameShow.Definition of a High Profile Breed. A breed from time to time designated by the General Committee as requiringparticular monitoring by reason of visible condition(s) which may cause health or welfare concerns. The list of designatedHigh Profile Breeds is kept under regular review.(a) Shows Judged on the Group System

(Definition: Shows judged on the Group system include classes for breeds within more than one Group, as definedin Kennel Club Regulation B(A); and requires a judge to declare a Best of each Group after which the exhibits sodeclared will compete for the award of Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show).

(1) Best of BreedWhere a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from those exhibits which havereceived a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of a breeda Best of each Sex must be declared.NOTE: The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified award relevant to a High Profile Breed willnot be confirmed until the dog has passed an examination by the General and Group Championship ShowVeterinary Surgeon.

(2) Best of GroupBest of Group and subsequent group placings must be selected from:(a) The Best of Breed winners in each Group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs.(b) The best unbeaten winning dog from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each Group or

on each day.NOTE: The dog declared Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified from a breed designated bythe Kennel Club as a High Profile Breed is not eligible to compete in the Group competition unless it has passed anexamination by the Show’s Veterinary Surgeon. If the dog fails to pass the examination it is ineligible to compete inthe relevant Group.

(3) Best in ShowBest in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners provided they are unbeaten. Reserve Best inShow must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show.

THERE WILL BE NO COMPETITION FOR BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

BEST PUPPY IN BREEDDogs eligible to compete for this award are those dogs not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first dayof the show, entered in the breed classification, provided they are unbeaten by another dog not exceeding twelvecalendar months on the first day of the show. A similar definition shall apply to the Best Puppy from the Any VarietyNot Separately Classified on each day of the Show.

RULES & REGULATIONSVICIOUS DOGS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE AND MUST NOT BE BROUGHT TO THE SHOW.

EXHIBITORS ARE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE BY THEIR DOGS DURING THE EXHIBITION.

1 The show will open at 7 a.m. daily.2 Dogs will be received at any time but it is entirely the responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure that exhibits do not

miss their classes regardless of any PROVISIONAL times of judging of individual breeds which might be publishedbeforehand.

3 Judging will commence at 10 a.m. unless otherwise notified or published in Our Dogs, Dog World and Dog TrainingWeekly.

4 The Show will close half an hour after all the judging has been completed. Exhibits may be removed from the showafter their judging has been completed. Exhibits may not be removed any earlier unless by written order of theVeterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Practitioner or of the Show Management and then only in very exceptional andunforeseen circumstances which must be reported to the Kennel Club. Exhibits must be removed from theirbenches by 6 p.m. or when their judging is completed, whichever is the later.

5 The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of tenting and benching areas is forbidden except as authorised by theShow Management.

6 Details of Entry Fees are on page 15. ENTRY FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED ONCE AN ENTRY HAS BEENMADE. You may enter via the Internet at www.dog.biz. FIRST ENTRY FEES INCREASE BY £1 DURING THEEXTENDED ONLINE PERIOD 24 - 30 JUNE 2014.

7 Prize money will not be paid except where specifically stated elsewhere in the schedule.8 The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries.9 Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are ineligible for exhibition.

10 The mating of bitches within the precincts of the show is forbidden.11 THERE WILL BE NO COMPETITION FOR BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

Best Puppy in Breed. (3) Best in ShowBest in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners provided they are unbeaten. Reserve Bestin Show must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show.

(b) Withdrawal from Other CompetitionDogs which become eligible for Best of Group and Best in Show may be withdrawn from all othercompetition (other than Breed Classes and Best of Breed) prior to the competition for Best of Group or Bestin Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best of Group or Best inShow may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dogsdeclared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in any subsequentcompetition. Dogs may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

(c) ProvisoFor the purposes of this Regulation dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Braceand Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

13 Exhibits will not be admitted to Group, Best in Show or Variety Class competition after a period of ten minutes haselapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed byprevious judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

14 No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club,which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

15 All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs forExhibition.

16 All dogs resident outside the U.K. must be issued with a K.C. Authority to Compete Number before entry to theshow/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete Number will be returned. Overseasexhibitors’ attention is drawn to Kennel Club Regulation B. 19. c. “No dog with cropped ears shall be eligible to takepart in any Kennel Club licensed activity”.

17 DOGS IN CARS ON HOT DAYS. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offersthe following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at Kennel Club licensedevents.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy

holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water

available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade — take your own shade, for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of

water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths

of time.Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to direresults. Please look after your dog’s welfare.WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK, FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BENECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

18 Not For Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry formand must be Kennel Club registered.

19 Should any judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement, the committee reserves the right to appoint asubstitute. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition, BUT NO ENTRY FEES CAN BE RETURNED.

20 No animal other than an exhibit will be allowed within the precincts of the show. Exhibits “Not for Competition” maybe entered for a fee of £10, as stated above, and a notice not exceeding 10" x 5" with the dog’s name printed on itmay be displayed over the bench {see F(1) (5) (d)}.

21 The Committee is empowered to exclude or to remove any dog which is not in a fit state for exhibition owing todisease, savage disposition, or any other cause {see Rule F(1) (15)}, and the entry fee will be forfeited.

22 Each exhibit must be brought with a suitable lead and collar so that the exhibit may be properly fastened on thebenching.

23 Each exhibit must be benched on the numbered bench allocated to it in the catalogue. Under no circumstancesshould partitions be removed from benching.

24 Special places will be provided for the cleaning, preparation and exercising of exhibits and no other place on theshowground must be used for such purposes.

25 It should be distinctly understood by exhibitors and purchasers of dogs at the show and all other persons that theCommittee will not be responsible for the entire or partial loss or detention of or damage to dogs or any otherproperty whether arising from accident or any other cause whatsoever or from any act or omission of themselves ortheir officers, servants, agents or others. It is on this understanding only that entries are accepted.

26 Gangways must be kept clear at all times. Any obstructions including dog boxes left in gangways will be removedby the Show Management.

27 Fouling. Exhibitors are reminded of Kennel Club Regulations F8 which requires removal as soon as possible of anyfouling caused by their dogs at the Show and the environs of the show ground.

28 Acknowledgement of Entries. If acknowledgement of entries is required, an addressed, stamped card must beenclosed for the Secretary’s signature,

29 Regulations. The Show will be held under Kennel Club Limited Rules and Regulations. All rules and regulations ordefinitions or instructions in the nature of rules and regulations printed for convenience in other parts of thisschedule shall be deemed to form part of these Rules and Regulations.

30 Should any question arise which is not provided for in these Regulations the decision of the Committee shall befinal, subject to appeal to the Kennel Club.

31 All entries must be made on or before Monday, 23rd June 2014 (Postmark), or online by midday on Monday30th June 2014.

32 Exhibitors will receive one free pass (not transferable) for each dog entered but in the case of a partnership, anadditional pass will be provided.

33 Cancellation or Abandonment: Entry fees will not be refunded in any circumstance where any act of God or anyother unforeseen reason causes the cancellation or abandonment of the show after entries have closed.

34 Photography & Video Rights: The Organisers would like to bring the regulation on photography and filming to theattention of exhibitors, trade stands, press and visitors.It is a condition of all those attending the event that no filming or other form of recording may be taken or made atthe venue without express written permission of the organisers. The taking of photographs in the show venue forsale or reward is strictly prohibited except with the written permission of the Organisers. Press accreditedphotographers are provided with permission to take photographs ONLY for use in newspapers, magazines and

internet sites – this is for news purposes only. There is no objection to the general public taking photographs ofgeneral views of the show, provided that these are for private use. Specific dogs may be photographed only withthe approval of the exhibitor. No photography or filming is permitted in breed judging rings whilst judging is actuallytaking place. However, judges may allow it to happen at the end of classes or after the Challenge Certificate isawarded. Filming and flash photography is allowed from outside the rings at all times unless the operation of thecamera is actually affecting exhibits. However, if a powerful flash unit is used or it is clear that exhibits are beingaffected, a ring steward or the judge is empowered to stop the person concerned.

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F(B)1 These Regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibited at any Kennel Club

Licensed event. Objections may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under these ShowRegulations and/or for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rule A42.(a) A dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these Regulations will automatically be disqualified from

exhibition at the show and from any award gained thereat.(b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited in breach of these

Regulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fine or as listed under Rule 42.2 (a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be present in the dog’s coat for

any purpose at any time during the Show. No substance which alters the natural colour of any external partof the dog may be present on the dog for any purpose at any time during the Show.

(b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dog for exhibition must notbe allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog at the time of exhibition.

3 No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof may be performed except:(a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.(b) The removal of dewclaws of any breed.(c) Operations to prevent breeding, provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Club before

neutered dogs are shown.Nor must anything be done calculated to in the opinion of the General Committee to deceive.

4 The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog or dogs at any Show. Anyexamination thus ordered will be made by a person having executive authority who shall have a written directivefrom the Kennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis.

5 An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of a dogcompeting in the same breed or class, an objection may, however, be lodged by an official of the Show or byanyone so deputed by the Kennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual who lodges the objection orthe official (as appropriate) to substantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club will substantiate thegrounds for an objection made on its behalf.

6 Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be made in writing to theShow Secretary at his/her office before the close of the Show and the individual must produce evidence ofidentity at the time of lodging the complaint.

Exhibitors should note that the Welsh Kennel Club does not guarantee or give any assurance that theuse of any coat preparation, of whatever nature, on sale at the Show does not contravene KennelClub Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs.

DEFINITION OF CLASSESKC Reg F(A)

In the following Definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any show award that counts towards the title of Champion under therules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club.

Wins at Championship Shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as wins at Open Shows.In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members classes or competing for Members Specials each partner must

at the time of entry b e a member of the Society.In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of entries shall be

counted when entering for any class i.e. 16th June 2014.Wins in Variety classes do not count for entry in Breed classes but, when entering for Variety classes, wins in both Breed and

Variety classes must be counted. A first prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value.For the purposes of Kennel Club Show Regulations, the term “Variety Class” also applies to “Stakes Classes”. A Variety Class is

one in which more than one breed or variety of a breed can compete.A dog is not eligible for entry in Variety classes unless also entered and subsequently exhibited in a Breed class where such a

class is provided for which it is eligible {Subject to Reg. F19(j)}.Exemptions from this Regulation are :-(1) A puppy, unless a class for dogs under twelve months of age for which it is eligible is provided for the breed.(2) A dog in Any Variety Veteran class.(3) A dog in Any Variety Champion class.(4) A dog which is withdrawn from exhibition in breed classes as a result of the appointment of an emergency judge.(5) A dog in YKC Stakes slasses.(6) A dog in KC Good Citizen Scheme classes.(7) Exhibits bred by the scheduled breed Judge.

Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or not, where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.LIMIT—For dogs which have not become Show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of any governing body

recognised by the Kennel Club or won seven or more First Prizes in all, at Championship Shows in Limit or Open Classes, confined tothe Breed, whether restricted or not, at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the Breed.

OPEN — For all dogs of the breeds for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the show.VETERAN — For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the Show.CHAMPION — For dogs which have been confirmed a Champion, Show Champion or Field Trial Champion. Champion classes may

note be scheduled for individual breeds or varieties of breeds.RARE BREEDS — Confined to those breeds not granted Challenge Certificates in the current year, with the exception of those breeds

whose registration is confined to the Imported Register.IMPORTED REGISTER — For breeds confined to the Imported Breeds Register and only when an interim breed standard has been

published by The Kennel Club, breeds whose registration is confined to the Imported Register may be exhibited in this class only, andare ineligible for any other competition whatsoever.

ANY VARIETY NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED — For breeds of dog for which no separate breed classes are scheduled.YOUNG KENNEL CLUB STAKES—All pedigree dogs are eligible to take part provided the dog is registered on the Kennel Club breed

register. The dog must be registered a) solely or jointly in the member’s name or b) in the name of a member of the family and underthese circumstances the dog must be resident at the YKC member’s address. No substitute handlers are permitted — the dog must behandled by the YKC member. Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog on their behalf if they are notable to attend the class. Members must be aged 6 - 24 years (for members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Pleasenote that membership of the YKC terminates on a member’s 25th birthday. Please note that the YKC office will only accept wins fromclasses that are listed on the YKC website. If a show schedules a YKC class which has not been approved by the YKC ManagementTeam and published on the website, it will not qualify for Crufts. Please note that in order to enter any YKC Crufts qualifyingcompetition you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paidyour membership fee then any award will not count towards qualification for Crufts. Therefore it is important to renew and maintainYKC membership as current if you wish to participate in qualifying Crufts competitions. Crufts 2014 Qualification Procedure: Thefirst placed member only in each dog group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosette and prize money is awarded. If thefirst placed member has already qualified, the Crufts qualification will roll down to the next member (down to 3rd place only).

YOUNG KENNEL CLUB HANDLING CLASSES—Exhibitors may handle any dog provided it is entered in a previous class at this show,fully registered on the Kennel Club Breed Register and eligible to be exhibited at Kennel Club licensed events. The first placedexhibitor from each handling class will be invited to take part in a YKC Handling Competition at Crufts 2014, provided when they qualifythey are a fully paid up member of the YKC. For the purposes of these classes handler’s ages should be calculated as their age on thefirst day of the Show. Entries must be made on the entry form, no entries taken on the day. The age groups are 6-11 years (for handlers6 years and up to, but not including 12th birthday); 12-16 years (for handlers 12 years and up to, but not including 17th birthday); 17-24years (for handlers 17 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please note that the YKC office will only accept wins fromclasses that are listed on the YKC website. If a show schedules a YKC class which has not been approved by the YKC ManagementTeam and published on the website, it will not qualify for Crufts. Please note that in order to enter any YKC Crufts qualifyingcompetition you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry. NOTICE TO CARAVANNERSThe £40 caravan fee covers the period from Thursday to Monday. The RWAS will make a daily charge of £10 pernight for caravans on the ground before or after the stated period. NO CARAVANS WILL BE ADMITTED BYTHE RWAS BEFORE 4 AUGUST 2014.Electrical hook-ups will be available on a first come first served basis. The cost will be £43 per hook-up plus £2per day electricity charge.Regulations state that caravans must be 25 ft apart. Failure to comply with this rule will result in owners having toremove their unit to another location. Under no circumstances are caravan spaces to be reserved for peoplearriving later. Security staff will carry out periodic inspections to ensure that this regulation is being complied with.GENERATORS - Fuel must be stored in a suitable container It must be stored away from the generator and anyother possible sources of ignition. Filling of generators must only be carried out when the generator is cool and acorrect fuel funnel must be used. Any spillage of fuel must be cleaned up immediately, and prior to starting theengine. A fire extinguisher must be available and located close to the generator.Caravans will not be allowed onto the site after 10pm. Please wait outside in the holding area.
