SCA 2012 Reunion:

The biennial reunion of the Silver Caduceus Association was held at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Antonio on September 26-30, 2012. I am happy to report that a total of 215 people (123 members and 92 guests) attended the event. The tours of Camp Bullis, Fort Sam Houston, the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC, formerly Brooke Army Medical Center), the Warrior & Family Support Center, and the Center For the Intrepid were enjoyed by all participants and stimulated conversations from earlier times at these places. The MSC Disciplines’ Social Gatherings were also very successful in reuniting friendships of both active duty and retired personnel. The conclusion of the Golf Tournament was highlighted by a fun-filled dinner at the Fort Sam Houston Golf Clubhouse, Mulligans. The Memorial Service for Deceased MSC Officers and Warrant Officers was a somber, yet fitting ceremony honoring our fallen MSC comrades. We received presentations covering a variety of topics from the current state of the Medical Service Corps to Changes in TRICARE and Military Retirement. We certainly appreciate the information provided by each of these speakers. The SCA Business Meeting concluded with the election of SCA officers and board members followed by a formal banquet with superb entertainment. I want to publicly thank COL Mike McGinley for chairing the 2012 reunion, along with co-chairman, COL Linn Danielski with his wife, Janice Danielski, and all of the

Planning has already begun for the SCA 2014 Reunion. It will be held in the National Capital Region, (NCR), Washington, D. C. Area, September 3-6, 2014. The SCA Reunion Planning Committee looked at several hotels in the NCR and narrowed the search to seven hotels for comparison, (cost, location, facilities/amenities, availability of restaurants, accessibility to the Metro stop for tourist attractions, etc); it has selected the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Marriott. This hotel was opened in March 2011 and is conveniently located with a short walk to the metro and free shuttle to Washington Reagan Airport.
