9th January 2011 Commitment Sunday As throughout the Salvation Army, today was Commitment Sunday at the Citadel. A number of people made a public recommitment to God of their lives. In addition Ruth Waller, Mary Hethrington, Patricia Hunt and Vic Hunt were enrolled as Soldiers and David Waller as an Adherent.

6th February 2011 Self Denial Season Our visiting officers for the start of the Self Denial Season were Majors Joy & Cliff Allchin from DHQ. The morning and afternoon meetings had ‘Prayer’ as their theme. Information was given about the problems of Argentina, Bagladesh, Mozambique, Pakistan & Zambia. Members of the congregation were asked to pray for people around the world. The band played the march ‘Lowestoft Citadel 125’

6th March 2011 This morning was the culmination of the season of self denial. The envelopes from the congregation were placed on the Bible by the Mercy Seat. £2937.57 was raised. In addition Laurence Hetherington donated a stained glass window he had made.

27th March 2011 Our Commandng Officers were on furlough this week so the Prayer Co-ordinator led the Sunday meeting.

12th April 2011 Ernie Annals was interviewed and appointed as Assistant Auxiliary Superintendent of the Royal Naval Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen. 22nd - 24th April 2011 Easter Weekend On Good Friday Lowestoft Christians joined us at the Citadel for a short service after which we all took part in the Good Friday procession to the United Reformed Church. A short service was held outside the Church with our Band taking part. After this, we had a service inside the Church. This ended with a Taize Chant while people were invited to come forward with a pebble (symbolising their sin) which they left behind as they walked away.

In the evening there was a service at the Citadel.

On Easter Sunday, the usual Sunrise Service was held at the Ness. The sun rose at 5.37.

1st May 2011 The Officers went to the Roots Conference in Southport so the meeting this morning was led by the Corps Treasurer and the Songster leader Marilyn and Graham Leonard. 8th May 2011 Candidates Sunday. £161.15 was raised.

15th May 2011 Patricia & Vic renewed their marriage vows in the meeting this morning. Afterward a buffet lunch was served. 18th May 2011 Major Clifford Allchin, Divisional Evangelist, came this morning for a 30 minute prayer meeting as part of the Area Prayer Day. 21st May 2011 Carol Batty represented the Corps in the Lowestoft Bible Society Walk. She raised £107.

22nd May 2011 Three people came forward to the Mercy Seat at the end of this morning’s meeting while the Songsters sang; “Don’t go home without Jesus.” 29th May 2011 Major David Jackson, the Divisional Commander, led the meeting this morning.

We are now half way through the year. Our weekly programme includes: Sun: Meeting at 10.30 followed by refreshments Mon: Band practice Tues: Free community meal, Timbrel practice, Fellowship meeting Wed: Prayer meeting, Songster practice Sat: Coffee morning Our numbers have been increasing in all these. The shop does a great service to the community,listening & counselling on an informal basis.

3rd July 2011 The annual blessing of the lifeboat and crew was held at 3pm today. Major B Willson led the service.

chat afterwards.

31st July 2011 Today’s meeting was led by Ernie & Diana Annals. 3rd September 2011 A ‘Linger & Lunch’ was held to raise money for the Suffolk Air Ambulance & the Bible Society.It raised £615. The Mayor, Cllr Tod Sullivan, D.C. Major David Jackson, M.P.Peter Aldous & Liz Godbold attended.

4th September 2011 A further development in the prayer life of the Corps was the introduction of a monthly prayer leaflet containing the names on our prayer board of people we had been asked to pray for and a rota of people attending our meetings.

10th September 2011 A Wartime evening arranged by Carol Batty was held and greatly enjoyed.

2nd October 2011 The Harvest Festival was led by Majors Trevor & Gwenyth Lynes. It was also a Feast Sunday and there was a meeting in the afternoon.

The Altar Service raised £1,078 3rd October 2011 There was a PCC meeting to discuss proposed new members. 5th October 2011 A Planning meeting was arranged

9th October 2011 Four seekers came forward to the Mercy Seat this morning. Others also spoke of the impact of the meeting which was very encouraging. 11th October 2011 We hosted the Annual General Meeting of Christians Together this evening. 17th October 2011 Thirteen people came to an informal discussion about membership..

3rd November 2011 A craft evening designing greetings cards has been arranged under the leadership of Mary & Laurence Hetherington. 6th November 2011 As usual this Sunday, being the first in the month was Feast Sunday. People can stay for lunch at the cost of £3. One special feature this morning was the presentation of Songster COMMISSIONS to Diana & Ernie Annals, Melany Batty, Mary Hetherington, Jean Potter, Eveline Robertson, Ruth Waller,Jim & Muriel Young. Also officially becoming members of our Songster Brigade today are Margaret Hill, Laurence Hetherington & Glenda Rose.

After the lunch, there was a discussion about catching up with property issues and the coming events next year. Some time was spent on the Congress and the Corps Holiday. Major Trevor Lynes would be helping with the Sunday morning intercessory prayer slot - and the following proposed commissions to be appointed are: Ernie Annals as CSM., Ruth Waller as Corps Sec David Clarke as Band Sgt., Vic. Hunt as Welcome Sgt., & Adh. Laurence Hetherington as Songster Librarian. 13th November 2011 Remembrance Sunday The Band were on duty at the Memorial whilst a very moving meeting was conducted by Major Cindy at the Citadel. 14th November to 25th November 2011 The hall was closed for redecorating.

27th November 2011 Linda Smart, Brian Mitchell, Heather Keisel, Carole Midmer & Gillian Ellis were made Adherents this morning. There were seekers at the conclusion of the meeting.

3rd December 2011 The Carolling season began with the Band on duty in the Britton Centre. 4th December 2011 Today was a Feast Sunday followed by the Lifeboat Carol Service.

18th December 2011 The Corps Carol Service should have been led by Majors Cliff & Joy Allchin. But Major Cliff was unwell. Our prayers are with him. At the end of the meeting, a birthday cake appeared for Major Barry whose birthday it is tomorrow. 20th December 2011

21st December 2011 The Band led carols at the Rotary Club Christmas dinner. 24th December 2011 Carols at Broadland while back at the Corps people prepared for ‘Christmas Alone’ –a Christmas Day meal & fellowship. £2,880-64 was raised during the Carolling season.

25th December 2011 A Family Carol Service and ‘Christmas Alone’ for anyone who does not want to be alone today. This included a meal and entertainment. Over 100 meals were served. Donations for this event amounted to just under £12,00.
