    Sahuarita Town Hall BizHub is Open!  

     Sahuarita Town Hall BizHUB Opens for Business  On Thursday, May 14, the Town of Sahuarita officially opened BizHUB—a one-stop small business center—with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located in the newly remodeled town hall lobby, BizHUB offers local business owners and entrepreneurs access to state-of-the-art technology, a private meeting space, plug-and-play work stations, how-to workshops, networking opportunities and technical assistance from town staff.

    “BizHUB offers Sahuarita’s new and existing businesses technology, networking, education and connections,” Mayor Duane Blumberg said. “BizHUB will help our small businesses become the major local employers of tomorrow.”

    BizHUB's primary goal is to encourage entrepreneurship and inspire economic development by providing small business owners the tools and services to start or grow their business in Sahuarita.

    BizHUB is made possible by a $92,100 grant from Freeport-McMoRan through their Green Valley Sahuarita Community Investment Fund. All BizHUB services are free and open to the public.

    Recent Fatality is a Reminder to Practice Lightning Safety A lightning strike is blamed for killing a woman and hurting several others in the Mogollon Rim area in Northern Arizona on June 27, 2015. Officials say those people were caught in an afternoon storm and tried to take shelter under a tree. The 24-year-old victim died at the scene. Four others were taken to the hospital. The Monsoon season is here and as much as we all love the rains and the cooler temperatures they usher in, the accompanying lightning is fast and furious. During this season, if there is a high chance of thunderstorms, stay inside. If you are outside and you absolutely cannot get to safety, you can lessen the threat of being struck by following these tips from The National Weather Service…but don’t kid yourself-you are NOT safe outside. 1. NO PLACE outside is safe when thunderstorms are in the area!! If you hear thunder, lightning is close enough to strike you. 2. When you hear thunder, immediately move to safe shelter: a substantial building with electricity or plumbing or an enclosed metal-topped vehicle with windows up, as long as you avoid contact with metal and windows in the vehicle. Small outdoor buildings including dugouts, sheds and gazebos are not safe! Once inside, stay away from windows and doors and anything that conducts electricity such as corded phones, wiring, plumbing and anything connected to these. This includes sinks, baths, toilets and faucets. Do not lie on concrete floors or lean against walls. 3. Stay in safe shelter at least 30 minutes after you hear the last sound of thunder. Immediately get off elevated areas such as hills, mountain ridges or peaks. 4. Never lie flat on the ground. 5. NEVER TAKE SHELTER UNDER AN ISOLATED TREE OR OTHER TALL OBJECTS. If you are in a forest, stay near a lower strand of trees. 6. Never use a cliff or rocky overhang for shelter. Avoid open fields. 7. Immediately get out and away from ponds, lakes and other bodies of water. 8. Stay away from objects that conduct electricity (wire fences, poles, power lines, windmills, etc.) Water and metal do not attract lightning, but they are excellent conductors of electricity. The current from a bolt of lightning will easily travel for long distances.
