Transcript of The Sacred Search
O you of little faith…
…Do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?‘
For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Mat 6:30b-34
1. A TALE OF TWO TEARS
A good wife is her husband's pride and joy; but a wife who
brings shame on her husband is like a cancer in
his bones. Pro 12:4
How hard it is to find a capable wife! She is worth far more than jewels! Pro 31:10
Find a wife and you find a good thing; it shows that the
LORD is good to you. Pro 18:22
2. THE GREAT EXCEPTION
… be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you,
except when you are choosing someone to marry.
In that case, you should follow your emotions, insist
on a exciting romantic attraction and overall
relational compatibility that makes the relationship fun, and he will provide you with all these other things. Mat
6:33
3. VULNERABLE AND STUPID
But his father and mother asked him, "Why do you have to go to
those heathen Philistines to get a wife? Can't you find someone in
our own clan, among all our people?" But Samson told his
father, "She is the one I want you to get for me. I like her.“ After this, Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah, who lived in Sorek
Valley. Jdg 14:3,16:4
Sensible people are careful to stay out of trouble, but stupid people are careless and act too quickly.
Pro 14:16
4. YOU DON’T WANT WHAT YOU THINK YOU WANT
Charm is deceptive and beauty disappears, but a woman who
honors the LORD should be praised. Pro 31:30
But the LORD said to him, "Pay no attention to how tall and handsome he is. I have rejected him, because I do not judge as people judge. They
look at the outward appearance, but I look at the heart.“ 1Sa 16:7
You should not use outward aids to make yourselves beautiful, such as
the way you fix your hair, or the jewelry you put on, or the dresses
you wear. Instead, your beauty should consist of your true inner
self, the ageless beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of the
greatest value in God's sight. 1Pe 3:3
What you think is the right road may lead to death. Pro
14:12
5. SOUL MATE OR SOLE MATE
Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way. Never let yourself think that you are wiser than you are; simply obey the LORD and refuse to do wrong.
Pro 3:6,7
Get all the advice you can, and you will succeed; without it you will fail.
Pro 15:22 -----
The greatest love you can have for your friends is to give your life for
them. Joh 15:13
Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave his
life for it. Eph 5:25
6. A MARRIAGE MADE IN HEAVEN?
Show me proof of your goodness, LORD; those who
hate me will be ashamed when they see that you have given
me comfort and help. Psa 86:17
He prayed, " LORD, God of my master Abraham, give me
success today and keep your promise to my master. Gen
24:12
She was a very beautiful young woman and still a virgin.
Gen 24:16
7. THE RELIGIOUS ROMANCE LOTTERY
How hard it is to find a capable wife! She is worth far more than
jewels! Pro 31:10
Find a wife and you find a good thing; it shows that the LORD is
good to you. Pro 18:22
Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door
will be opened to you. Mat 7:7
If you are lazy, you will never get what you are after, but if you work
hard, you will get a fortune. Pro 12:27 (missions)
8. PASSIVE SURRENDER OR PASSIONATE PURSUIT
But if you cannot restrain your desires, go ahead and marry---it is better to marry than to burn
with passion. 1Co 7:9 (sex)
…Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these others do?" "Yes, Lord," he answered, "you
know that I am attached to you/affectionately love you/dearly
love you” Joh 21:15 (culture)
We have courage in God's presence, because we are sure
that he hears us if we ask him for anything that is according to his
will. 1Jn 5:14 ($$$)
9. WHAT’S YOUR STYLE
If you are lazy, you will meet difficulty everywhere, but if
you are honest, you will have no trouble. Pro 15:19
Two are better off than one, because together they can
work more effectively. Ecc 4:9
Any country that divides itself into groups which fight each
other will not last very long; a family divided against itself
falls apart. Luk 11:17
10. ARE YOU STRONG ENOUGH TO BE MY MAN/WOMANThat is why a man leaves his
father and mother and is united with his wife, and
they become one. Gen 2:24
Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it. Eph 5:25
Parents, do not treat your children in such a way as to make them angry. Instead, raise them with Christian
discipline and instruction. Eph 6:4
11. FINDING OR MAKING A MARRIAGE?
Don't do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one
another, always considering others better than yourselves. Php 2:3
Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any
of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has
forgiven you. Col 3:13
Better to live out in the desert than with a nagging, complaining
(conflictive) wife. Pro 21:19
12. SOMETHING YOU MUST AGREE ABOUT I
Submit yourselves to one another because of your reverence for
Christ. Eph 5:21
Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands as to the Lord…Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave
his life for it. Eph 5:22
It is the one who sins who will die. A son is not to suffer because of his father's sins, nor a father because of the sins of his son. Good people will be rewarded for doing good, and evil people will suffer for the
evil they do. Eze 18:20
12. SOMETHING YOU MUST AGREE ABOUT II
In the past God spoke to our ancestors many times and in
many ways through the prophets, Heb 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us through his Son.
Heb 1:1
So then, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another,
so that you will be healed. The prayer of a good person has a
powerful effect. Jas 5:16
Some friendships do not last, but some friends are more loyal than
brothers. Pro 18:24What do you do when you get together?
13. YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A COMPLEMENT NOT A CLONE
If you are not willing to serve him, decide today whom you will
serve… As for my family and me, we will serve the LORD. Jos 24:15
Do not try to work together as equals with unbelievers, for it cannot be done. How can right
and wrong be partners? How can light and darkness live together?
2Co 6:14
And I tell you more: whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in
heaven. Mat 18:19
14. WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW REALLY CAN HURT YOU
Sensible people are careful to stay out of trouble, but stupid people are
careless and act too quickly. Pro 14:16
Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone. A
rope made of three cords is hard to break. Ecc 4:12
If the LORD does not build the house, the work of the builders is useless; if the LORD does not protect the city, it does no good for the sentries to stand
guard. Psa 127:1
Jeremiah, test my people, as you would test metal, and find out what
they are like. Jer 6:27
Trinity talk, natural habitat, memory lane, pray together
15. A NEUROCHEMICAL WAR AGAINST YOUR REASONING
God wants you to be holy and completely free from sexual
immorality. Each of you should know how to live with your wife in
a holy and honorable way, not with a lustful desire, like the
heathen who do not know God. In this matter, then, none of you
should do wrong to other Christians or take advantage of
them. We have told you this before, and we strongly warned
you that the Lord will punish those who do that.
God did not call us to live in immorality, but in holiness.
1Th 4:3-7
16. PROBLEM PEOPLE
I have shown you in all things that by working hard in this way
we must help the weak, remembering the words that the Lord Jesus himself said, 'There is more happiness in giving than in
receiving.‘ Act 20:35
Wise people will gain an honorable reputation, but stupid people will only add to their own
disgrace. Pro 3:35
The second most important commandment is like it: 'Love
your neighbor as you love yourself.‘ Mat 22:39
17. WHY YOU WON’T KNOW YOUR WIFE UNTIL SHE TURNS THISTY--FIVE
The LORD says, "I will condemn those who turn away from me and put their trust in human beings, in the strength of mortals. Jer 17:5
Don't put your trust in human leaders; no human being can save
you. Psa 146:3
-----Therefore whether you eat or drink,
or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Co. 10:31
Not to us, O Jehovah, not to us, but to Your name give glory, for Your mercy and for Your truth's sake.
Psa 115:1
mmmmm
18. HOW WOULD JESUS DATE
When Jesus arrived, he found that Lazarus had been buried four days
before… When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed in the house. Martha said to Jesus, "If you had been here,
Lord, my brother would not have died! Joh 11:17-21
Finally, our friends, you learned from us how you should live in order to please God. This is, of course, the way you
have been living. And now we beg and urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus
to do even more. 1Th 4:1
Peter and the other apostles answered, "We must obey God, not men. " Act
5:29
19. MERCY MARRIAGES
My friends, if someone is caught in any kind of wrongdoing, those of
you who are spiritual should set him right; but you must do it in a gentle
way. And keep an eye on yourselves, so that you will not be
tempted, too. Gal 6:1
Save others by snatching them out of the fire; and to others show
mercy mixed with fear, but hate their very clothes, stained by their
sinful lusts. Jud 1:23
If you think you are standing firm you had better be careful that you
do not fall. 1Co 10:12
20. A NEW VISION: WHAT DO WE GET MARRIED FOR?
For if you want to save your own life, you will lose it, but if you lose your life for my sake, you will save it. Will you gain anything if you win the whole
world but are yourself lost or defeated? Of course not!
Luk 9:24,25
I am telling you the truth: a grain of wheat remains no more than a single
grain unless it is dropped into the ground and dies. If it does die, then it
produces many grains. Joh 12:24
Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth. Mal 12:15
