History & Background of FCA• Formerly known as Koronivia Farm

Institute(1954)• Legislative Council Approval – 1946• Up to that time, vocational schools used to

teach certificate in agriculture – Sawani, Navuso, Ratu Kadavulevu School

• College was renamed : The Fiji School of Agriculture in 1962

• Fiji College of Agriculture in 1973

Roles & Functions of FCA• FCA under the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries

and Forestry (MAFF) is charged with the sustainable development of Fiji’s primary resources.

• Main objective: To accelerate sectional growth through greater diversification and exports guranteeing food and income security so that people’s living standards can be improved.

• To produce graduates with sufficient vocational /practical training to equip them in the world of work.

Programmes at FCA

• Certificate in Tropical Agriculture – 2 years• Diploma n Tropical Agriculture – 3 years was

introduced in 1962• Fiji College of Agriculture in 1973 and offered

external Diploma from the University of the South Pacific

Current Enrolment

• Diploma in tropical agriculture – (external diploma of USP)

• 1st year –FIT non residential– 50 students

• 2nd year –FCA residential – 46 students

• 3rd year –FCA residential– 39 students– Total College roll of 135 students

Power, Telecommunication, Maritime, Aircraft Engineering, Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Horticulture
