Hi everyone

Firstly, sorry for the lengthy delay in sending out an update from round 3 of the WIL Sport EuropeanJunior Cup held nearly two weeks ago. This past week has been hectic after an invitation to race inEstonia on a superstock 600cc machine; but more about that later after a run down from DoningtonPark.

World SBK race weekend in the UK was fantastic - filled with great racing, fabulous weather and manysmiling kiwi faces! The weather part I wasnt expecting, however the rest was normal businessresumed.

My mechanic James and I flew in on Thursday morning and headed straight to the track for a walk ofthis 4 kilometers of glorious circuit with the EJC crew. I truly love the fast, flowing layout of Doningtondespite it being very tricky to get correct.

Fridays are a long process for the EJC this year as we dont have any riding until Free Practise 1at 5pm. This gave me the chance to watch some of the world Supersport and Superbike riders in thedifficult parts of the circuit and learn as much as possible before hitting the track myself. In themeantime, super mechanic James prepared my bike and by 5pm we were rearing to go. I ended thesession in 18th position overall, a positive start to the weekend with good feelings from the bike.

Saturday bought more sunshine and another free practise session in the morning. This didnt go quite as well as we didnt make enough of a jump forwards, and fell back to 20 th position. I knew I needed a fast lap to improve upon this in qualifying but also wanted to do very few laps as we race on the same tyre for Sunday. I put in a time good enough for 16th place early on, jut 0.1 seconds off 15th spot on the grid which grid which was my goal. Close but no cigar.

It was awesome to have such great support from Pole Position Travel and all their happy customersthroughout the weekend, along with Kiwis and also ex-pats who dropped by the EJC village throughoutthe weekend. I certainly felt a lot of love and really enjoyed meeting many really big fans, almost asmuch as I enjoyed the Whittakers peanut slabs we were presented! We even managed to get one

visitor - ex Auckland Motorcycle Club champion Nick Odermatt - on the grid with us to give a hand withtyre warmers etc which was really helpful.

My race early Sunday morning got off to a great start finishing the first lap in 12th position.Unfortunately I lost the tow from the front group after about three laps, and was soon swallowed up bythe group behind. From there it was a good battle as this group was fierce and I dropped back as faras 17th place at one stage. I managed a few overtakes and even on the final lap to finish in 15thposition and score one more EJC championship point! I won the Women's Cup part of the race onceagain, being fastest female on track in every session so far this year.

After Donington we made a visit to the RST factory not far from the track. It was wicked to see behindthe scenes of the high quality of the racing suits WIL Sport riders Connor London and I are privilegedto wear. We also got a tour of the MotoDirect head office which included many awesome bikes andother gear. Special thanks to RST for coming on board and supporting this year; I'm really proud to bepart of the team and most importantly know I am safe as possible on the race track! Not to mentionstylish!

I was only back at home base in Germany for one day after this before catching another plane toEstonia, where I was invited by a fellow EJC speedstar, Hannes Soomer, to compete in the first roundof their national championship. I had an absolutely fantastic weekend racing for VihurMoto on aYamaha R6 in the Superstock 600 class. Coming away with one second and one third place finish, aswell as many new friends/fans made it a very successful weekend. I was able to learn a lot fromHannes on his home track and have to say thanks to his family for their amazing hospitality.

This year has been full of opportunities and I'm really glad to be able to make the most of them! We areso excited for round 4 of the European Junior Cup next weekend in Misano, and for what the rest of the season will bring.

Thank you for the amazing support which makes this dream a reality!

Until next timeAv # 21

24 June

Hi Everyone

I'm writing to you very excited to say we finally reached the season goal of finishing inside the overalltop 10 of the WIL Sport European Junior Cup this past weekend in Misano, Italy. At one ofmy favorite circuits I managed to finish the race in a career-best 8th position and once again win theWomen's Cup part of the race!

At a stretch you could call Misano my second 'home' track, as I have spent so much time there riding inthe Italian Championship and really do love the place. My track knowledge was evident right from thebeginning of the weekend as I was fast even from the very first session on Friday. Without pushingoverly hard I held 5th place for a lot of Free Practise 1, finishing up in 10th position overall. I felt reallycomfortable after riding the R6 Superstock bike in Estonia because the CBR650f has much lesshorsepower and was therefore more manageable under acceleration in comparison to the faster600cc.

Getting low in free practise www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUi3ov8jxXY&feature=youtu.be

Saturday was another good day, ending FP2 in 11th position and qualifying in 13th after a small crashtowards the end of the session. It was nothing major but a shame to miss out on the final few laps anddrop down a few positions on the all-important starting grid for Sundays race. As far as the WomensCup goes I was still four seconds a lap ahead of the next girl so we had no troubles there. The bikewas relatively unscathed and after a few repairs Saturday evening we were ready for the race onSunday. Special thank you to Arai helmets, RST leathers and gloves and Sidi boots for keeping mesafe!

Page 14: THE RIDER’S BRIEFS - Squarespace · RIDER’S BRIEFS THE OFFICIAL ... 1 July marks the start of a new AMCC Club Year, ... as well as we didn t make enough of a jump forwards, ...

As usual, Sunday was a long process as we have to watch the Superbike, Superpsort and Stock 100ccraces before ours kicks off at 3.15pm. When the time finally came and the red lights went out for ourrace, I got off to an incredible start launching off the line and closely escaping drama on the first fewcorners. This clean first lap saw me in 9th position, then passed only by one rider and I sat most therace in 10th place. On the last lap two riders at the front collided and went down, leaving me to finishthe race in 8th position. I was very happy about this as it is my best finish in the overall standings so far!It certainly didn't go unnoticed by the Superbike paddock either as we had a lot of positive feedbackand people hanging around our pit after the podium and paddock show. It was great to have evenmore Kiwis present this weekend including Seth Deveroux from Braap Media, recruited to create top-notch footage of Connor London and I.

#21 in the thick of the action All smiles on the podium

You can watch the full race and podium celebrations here: https://youtu.be/_ZQlBuk4M50(Someone was a big eager to pop the champagne! Oops!)

It feels amazing to finally finish where I knew I was capable of, and I hope you can all enjoythis moment as well because without your support it wouldn't be possible.

The European Junior Cup now has a very long break over the European summer, with the next racebeing here in Germany on September 19th. The action doesnt stop for me however, this weekend weare competing in an 8 hour endurance race at Nurburgring, and will be testing at other various circuitsover the next two months following that. I look forward to keeping you all updated on the training andraces.

Until then, All the best.
