Friends of McMannen
Following our historical giving patterns, our Sunday offerings slowed over the summer months. As a result, we
now need your help to eliminate the current deficit in the operating account as we prepare for the exciting
programming in the fall and winter.
*If you have been a regular giver, we thank you. Can you find some excess in your budget above your normal
giving to share for God’s work?
*If you have not yet begun your journey of faithful financial stewardship, we invite you to begin and extend
your reach through partnership with other givers.
*If you have been away, we say “welcome back.” And we look forward to your continued support.
All of you are appreciated for the many gifts you offer to McMannen and to the Glory of God.
Young Adults are welcome and encouraged to join
our study on
“Christmas is Not Your Birthday”
Monday Nights
7:00 pm in the Youth Center
Please continue to collect the labels so this year’s
preschoolers are able to take advantage of the great
educational opportunities offered by this program.
Project AGAPE provides religious humanitarian assistance to Armenia fol-lowing a devastating earthquake, border war with Azerbaijan, and the effects of the failed Soviet economic and political system after Armenia gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. More recently refugees form the Syrian civil war have flooded into Armenia, stressing already limited so-
cial services. Project AGAPE is the only NGO working in the contested region of Nagorno-Karabakh re-gion. The AGAPE Christmas boxes YOU fill are going to these children. As in past years, we request you follow the Agape Christmas Box Packing List 2015. You do not need to include every item on the list and are free to add other age-appropriate items. You are also asked to include a $5 (check or cash) to help cover the cost of shipping. Personal notes of greeting and pictures of you family or church group also are welcome. (See the instruction sheet for more details.) IMPORTANT UPDATE: Candy & gum are no longer allowed in Agape Boxes. Please do NOT include any food items, as these must be removed before shipping!
Shoeboxes are available in the church office! Return to church office by Wednesday, September 30!

COOKERS ARE NEEDED
FOR POTATOES FOR THE
FALL FESTIVAL STEW
5 & 10 lb. bags of potatoes will be available
for cooking Sunday before Fall Festival in the
fellowship hall. They are due back @ the
scout hut by Saturday AM (or possibly Friday
night if the refrigerator truck is available). It’s
easy to do. Just cook in the skin. Let cool
enough to handle. Skin will almost slide off.
Mash until smooth with no lumps while still
warm. I place mine in plastic ziplock bags &
mash out remaining lumps. Then I don’t have
to retrieve my container after Fall Festival.
MANY COOKERS are needed. Please volun-
teer by calling 919-740-2646 and leaving
your name, phone number and pounds of
potatoes you can cook OR EMAIL the same
information at
The McMannen UMC Preschool
is back! Many of you have asked
what you can do to help us out.
These are a few items that would be greatly appreciated in our supply closet should
you happen to have them or wish to donate them to the ministry. Supplies do not
need to be new. Gently used things work just as well. This is not a complete list.
If there are items you have and think the preschool may be able to use, please ask!
Basically anything and everything is welcome. We can find a creative way to use it
all!
