1 Object and scope of application
1.1 Object
1.1.1 The general building inspection test certificate applies to the manufacture and use
of ceilings exposed from below or above to fire, according to Sections 3.4 to 3.8 and 3.11 of DIN
4102-4: 1994-03 1) as well as to load bearing or non-load bearing, space-enclosing walls made of
reinforced concrete or brickwork according to Sections 4.2 and 4.5 of DIN 4102-4: 1994-05 with
"resilient joint sealing tape F 120" joint sealing tapes, which belong to fire resistance class F 30
or F 120, designation (short designation) F 30-AB or F 120-AB according to DIN 4102-2: 1977-
09.
1.1.2 The ceilings with joint sealing tapes must be made from ceiling constructions
according to Sections 3.4 to 3.8 and 3.11 and the "resilient joint sealing tape F 120" joint sealing
tapes according to Section 2. The space-enclosing walls (one-sided fire exposure) with joint
sealing tapes must consist of wall constructions made of reinforced concrete or brickwork,
Sections 4.2 and 4.5 of DIN 4102-4: 1994-03 with "resilient joint sealing tape F 120" joint
sealing tapes according to Section 2.
1) This general building inspection test certificate contains dated and undated references to and specifications
from other standards or guidelines. These references are cited in the respective passages in the text and the standards are listed on sheet 7. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of these standards must be taken into consideration in this general building inspection test certificate. For undated references, the last version of the referenced standard or guideline is applicable.
1.2 Scope of application
1.2.1 The ceiling and walls with joint sealing tapes must, in the case of fire resistance
class F 30, have a thickness d ≥ 100 mm and, in the case of fire resistance class F 120, a
thickness d ≥ 150 mm, and for the rest they have to satisfy the conditions of Sections 3.4 to 3.8
and 3.11 as well as 4.2 and 4.5 of DIN 4102-4.
The minimum component thickness d in the case of chamfered edges must be based on
the end points of the chamfering (see Figure 1).

Sheet 3 of the general building inspection test certificate No. P-3568/2560-MPA BS of September 30, 2000
1.2.2 The joint sealing tapes may be arranged between individual ceiling portions,
between the walls specified below or between ceiling portions and
- load bearing and non-load bearing, space-enclosing walls made of brickwork according
to DIN 1053-1 to 4,
- load bearing and non-load bearing, space-enclosing walls made of concrete or
reinforced concrete according to DIN 1045 or
- walls made of aerated concrete slabs and panels according to DIN 4166.
The wall constructions must be of the same fire resistance class as the ceilings with joint sealing
tapes. For the fire resistance class of the above-mentioned wall constructions, a proof of usability
in terms of fire protection (for example, DIN 4102-4 or a general building inspection test
certificate) must provided.
1.2.3 The joint sealing tapes between individual ceiling portions or between ceiling
portions and the above-mentioned wall constructions or between the above-mentioned wall
constructions must be closed in accordance with Section 2.1.
1.2.4 To the extent that there are requirements in terms of noise protection, further
supporting documents must be provided.
1.2.5 According to the explanation of the applicant, no products are used in the
construction that are subject to the Regulation on Hazardous Substances, the Ordinance for
Prohibition of Chemicals or the FCKW [chlorofluorocarbon] Ordinance for Prohibition of
Halogenated Hydrocarbons, or the conditions imposed by the above-mentioned ordinances (in
particular the marking obligation) are complied with.
Moreover, the applicant declares that — to the extent that, for commerce and placing on
the market or for use, measures must be taken with a view to hygiene, health protection or
environmental protection — these measures are instituted or publicized in the required manner
by the applicant.
Therefore, there was no reason to test the effects of the building products in the installed
state for compliance with the health and environmental protection requirements.

2 Specifications for the ceilings or walls with "resilient joint sealing tape F 120" joint
sealing tapes
2.1 Specification for the implementation
Joint sealing tapes between individual ceiling portions, between ceiling portions and wall
constructions as well as between individual wall portions according to Section 1.2.2
The joint sealing tapes having a maximum width of 40 mm must consist of an at least 50
mm high (fire resistance class F 30) or an at least 80 mm or 100 mm high (fire resistance class F
120) "resilient joint sealing tape F 120" joint sealing tape according to the general building
inspection test certificate No. P – NDS04 – 121 of the Hannover Material Testing Agency for the
Construction Industry. In the case of the installation of joint sealing tapes between individual
ceiling portions, between ceiling portions and wall constructions as well as between individual
wall portions according to Section 1.2.2 of the fire resistance class F 120, it is possible to arrange,
instead of an at least 80 mm high or an at least 100 mm high "resilient joint sealing tape F 120"
joint sealing tape, in each case two at least 40 mm or at least 50 mm high "resilient joint sealing
tape F 120" joint sealing tapes according to Appendixes 1.3 to 1.6. In the case of the installation
of 21-40 mm wide joint sealing tapes between individual ceiling portions, between ceiling
portions and wall constructions as well as between individual wall portions according to Section
1.2.2 of the fire resistance class F 30, 5 mm thick skim made of silicone (minimum construction
material class B2 according to DIN 4102-1: 1998-05) must be applied additionally to the joint
sealing tapes.
Further details regarding the setup of the ceilings or walls with "resilient joint sealing
tape F 120" joint sealing tapes can be obtained from Appendixes 1.1 to 1.6 of this general
building inspection test certificate.
2.2 Properties and composition of the building products used
The indications in terms of the marking, the material characteristic values, the
classification and the proof of usability compiled in Table 1 apply to the building products to be
used.

2.3 Proof of compliance
The construction type indicated in this general building inspection test certificate requires
proof of compliance (compliance proof) according to the specifications of the Building Rules
List A (BRL A) Part 3. According to BRL A Part 3, serial No. 1, a compliance declaration of the
manufacturer (entrepreneur) must occur.
The entrepreneur who manufactures the ceiling or the wall with joint sealing tapes must
prepare for the applicant a written compliance declaration (form, see sheet 8) by means of which
he certifies that the ceiling or wall with joint sealing tapes produced by him meets the provisions
of this general building inspection test certificate.
3 Legal basis
This general building inspection test certificate is issued under §§ 24 ff of the Lower
Saxony Building Ordinance (NBauO) in the version of July 13, 1995 (Nds. GVBl. [Lower
Saxony Law and Ordinance Gazette], p. 199), amended by Article II of the law of May 28, 1996
(Nds. GVBl. p. 252) and by the 8th law of October 6, 1997 (Nds. GVBl., p. 422) in connection
with the Building Rules List A. The Federal States’ building ordinances of the remaining federal
States contain corresponding legal bases.
