Dael Gornall a journalist that asked me to design him an identity for his journalism career. Here I have used block quotes in the design to relate to the desired direction. The ‘DG’ has been created using illustrator. I was commissioned just to do a brand identity and business cards as it was for a viral based project. This was my first brief I charged for and enabled me to realise the value of the design in relation to the scale of a project.

Eclectic City Music Group is an organisation that has approached me to create a brand identity. ECMG have been supporting talented musicians for 2 years now and feel ready to take the next step into going public. The organisation works with artists managing their promising careers. The logo needed to have an urban feel that also relates directly to the function of the business. Above I have shown the final logo and business cards. I am currently working on web art and letterheads. Working directly for a company rather than a client has

given me the experience I needed to charge for my designs and put together an accurate price list for my passion.

Jimmy Vee, an aspiring artist who is looking to make his name know from gig to gig. Working alongside ECMG jimmy asked me to design him a logo to help him promote himself whilst touring, we discussed the best way of developing him self. The idea behind the T-shirts is not just as a souvenir for the fans to take home but also to generate free advertisement. The shirts are sold at gigs when Jimmy is performing and retail at £14.99. ‘Here Lies The King’ is a lyric that relates directly to Jimmy.

The key factor behind working with jimmy as a client I needed to remember, was that we are both aspiring artists, i kept my cost at a minimum but i did not let the cost of the design effect the quality of the design.

08 Sophie Louise Reddings - Interior Design - Branding | Freelance

S.L.ReddingsInterior Design

Whilst at university I made a few contacts with other students that graduated at the same as me. Sophie Redding’s was one of them, graduating in interior design she soon realised she needed to brand her self. I was asked to create an identity for her that related best to her work and that promoted her as a professional designer not just a graduate.

This is the package I designed for her. As you can see it is very feminine with a personal feel. I wanted to show my versatility in my designs and it was great opportunity to tackle a brief from a new angle.

10 Bark Louder Designs - Branding | Freelance

Bark Louder Design is a web based company that I have been partnered with freelancing for a while now. Ben Kennedy the CEO of the company approached me to design a potential re-brand for the company. BLD creates web sites for independent company’s that are looking to branch out to a web based audience. The designs above are just a couple of ideas that we have come up with, the continuity will follow throughout the website.

My main objective for this brief was to create an identity that was fun yet well designed. Using the name ‘Bark Louder’ as inspiration, I have created the quirky dog character that will follow you around the web site. As this is a design for a designer we worked together as a team swapping ideas as the brand grew. The logo will also be animated using flash to add interaction with the audience. This can be viewed on my website. www.cargocollective.co.uk/selfmade

11 RNR Fabricati - Branding | Freelance

R‘n’R – A newly started business created for the purpose of welding and fabrication. I asked to begin designing just a brand identity and some business cards to begin with examples shown above. A Russell Gornall runs the business. This is was challenging as to design something that was subtle in the way it wouldn’t give away what the business did yet keep some kind of symbol that was recognisable as a welding company.

The idea is that the burst behind the ‘R’n’R’ resembles sparks from fabricating metal. The client was extremely pleased with the professional finish and has received many offers for work. Sign writing, letterheads and invoice book will be in the pipeline.

12 Apro Scaffolding -Branding | Freelance

Apro- this is my largest freelance brief so far. I was approached to design the brand for they company and also co design there website. I decided to keep the design very simple and allow the colours attract attention. Orange seemed to be the perfect tone, its warm yet attractive letting of a friendly glow. In this package I have designed the brand, letterheads, business cards, web banner and a truck sign. It was a large challenge to take on but I have met the deadline and have another satisfied client.

14 London at night | Personal Photography

I would not class myself as a photographer, but I do carry my camera with me at all times. During my time at Kingston College studying a general art course I learnt my way around a camera. I enjoy capturing moments that would normally be missed. I have also collected over the year a wide collection of strange photographs taken in locations that no longer exist such as mental asylums and abandoned hospitals. I feel these location make some of the most interesting imagery, not just because they have been left untouched for decades but

because within a few months of the picture being taken the building no longer exist. I have added just a few of my collection.

Conform, This was a brief directed by UCA that was inspired from a manifesto that I read by Jean Baudrillard. Aspiring to be a designer and to be different is difficult enough as it without society brain washing us into be-ing identical. This poster explains just a few of the things that we all do without realising we are doing them, a subconscious mind set if you like. The aim of the poster was to create realisation of the fact that we as a nation are conforming before we are even able to remember. My main goal for this poster was to deliver a

wake up call to my audience that of which would inspire them to take control of their lives and not as society wants us to live. The university realised this and gave my poster the reconsolidation it deserved by placing it next to Vaughn Oliver’s ‘slightly off the ground’ poster. Conform sold as a piece, only 4 are in circulation.

21 Wallpaper* | University Brief

Wallpaper* - A university brief that was given to help us use and understand InDesign. This was the brief that made me realise that adobe design suite was going to be my friend for the rest of my life. Using InDesign helps me as a designer get organised, this is very useful to me as I am dyslexic and for me to operate I need to be organised. Wallpaper is a full magazine layout, this is just the front page I have designed every thing you see has ben created by my self, from the concept to the picture of the female.

22 NSPCC Billboard Campaign | University Brief

But why daddy?

Cruelty to children must stop. FULL STOP.Let no cry go unheard call 0800 800 5000

This campaign was handed to me as a university brief to create awareness for child protection in the U.K. The brief was very simple; to create a serious of three-billboard poster that promoted people to give £3 per month of their money to the NSPCC for the protection of children. I felt that the best voice for this campaign was of the child itself. As you can see the type itself has actually been written by a child. this gives the added shock factor that the billboards needed. I realised that using the shock factor in a campaign that dealt with delicate

subjects is very risky and needed to be handled with extreme care. None of the posters have any obvious meaning to link them to child abuse. The message is interpreted totally on the audience’s subconscious of what I am trying to say.

Cruelty to children must stop. FULL STOP.Let no cry go unheard call 0800 800 5000

If a knife is used in a threateningway (even a legal knife, such asa Swiss Army knife),it is regardedas an 'offensive weapon' by the law. This is also the case with things like screwdrivers - once used in a threatening manner, they are treatedas offensive weapons.

School staff in England have thepower to search, without consent, any pupil they suspect of carryinga knife or other weapon in school,or on an educational visit. Schoolscan also screen pupils at random, without suspicion, using a screeningarch or an electronic 'wand'.

Anti Knife Crime- This brief was handed to me as a self-directed project. I decided to target something that unfortunately is very close to home for me. I live in Croydon south London and knife crime is a growing prob-lem. This brief contained a lot of first hand research, going to meet the police, interviews with police etc. The props involved we given to my by the met police as I felt the best way I could create a sense of realisation would be by creating a scenario. (All Photography in this campaign have been captured by myself)

NO MAN IS ABOVE THE LAW26 REFORM Campaign | University Brief

The investigation of misuse of the law by the UK’s police force in the modern day society, tactically research and develop a productive argument that can evolve into a well-structured awareness campaign. With finished pieces presented using photography, illustration and typography with finished pieces in the format of posters, billboards, stickers and a short documentary. I decided to use my experience and skills learned from previ-ous projects to develop my knowledge and understanding of the British police force and our governments

influence to a ‘big brother nation’. The postcards double up as miniature protest boards. This will allow the photographer to picture police with out seeing the concept behind the image. This is also key, as police have no right to ask to delete an image. Photographers can use this part of the campaign to tell their own stories and create their own images of the police.
