    The Programme Management Information

System (PMIS) is World Visions global

    information system for all field

    programmes and projects.

    The system connects partners across

    the world, allowing them to

    communicate and collaborate in real-

time. Born out ofcareful listening to

    staff

    regarding programming information

needs, PMIS is another step in World

    Visions programme quality

    improvement, enabling LEAP, IPM and

    FedNet.

PMIS is a suite ofpeople, processes andtechnology bringing the World Vision Par

    tnership together in

a new way. Its more than a computer

    database PMIS serves up information

    thatcreates

    newconversations between staff, donors andpartners.

    It lightens the workload, drivesprocess

    efficiencies and enablesaccountability.

It brings business intelligence to WorldVisions

    Managing Change

Change is never easyespecially one as largeand complex as PMIS. Thats why the system is

being introduced gradually with pilots inselected offices suppor ted by teams of co-ordinators in each region.

Change management is integrated within day-to-day activities. PMIS co-ordinators are equippedwith atraining package designed to make it easy

to learnthesystem. They collectreal-time input on functionality, usability, workload concerns and change managementissues.

A site readiness process will be continuallyevolved to enable informed decisions about a

sites readiness to rollout PMIS and gain its fullbenefits. The readiness process provides valuableinformation so we can improve our approach toglobal rollout of PMIS star ting in 2009, andcontinuing with new major releases every nine to12 months.

Our goal is to collaborate on the best approach

basedon different stakeholder group needs. PMIS isleading the industry in this work. Its anexciting journey that requires everyonesengagement.

    What our staff say

When PMIS is fully launched, staffwill have more time because theydonthave to write replicatedreports. This means having moretime with the community, benef

iciaries andthepeople that weminister to. So we lookforward to this. Itwill also contributevery greatly to the quality of the

    programmes as a whole.Tenagne Lemma

    National Director, World Vision Ethiopia

With PMIS, ifI can look at a mapandsee what projects are beingdone bywhat grants and whatoffice, then its easier for me to comeup with complementary

    programme activities. Being able

to find that all in oneplace wouldreally help all of us leverage ourefforts.

Staff will spend more timeassisting the communities, beingwith the families andsolving their

problems directly. This will provideus a better way to implement our

job. We will have more accurateinformation and we can assess thetrue effects and impacts that weare achieving in the process of ourministry.

    PMIS uses Microsoft Office

    SharePoint Solution,creating a web-

    enabled space where programme

    information is stored and made

    accessible to World Vision par

    tners. Progressive cycles of

    designing, building and

    implementing will evolve PMIS into

    a mature

system over the next five years.
