1 of 3 The Phyllis Craig Scholarship Application Women in Animation proudly offers a scholarship of $1000 to a deserving student once a year in honor of Phyllis Craig. A founding member of Women in Animation and former head of our education committee, Phyllis was a great believer in helping people, especially students, fulfill their dream of having a career in animation. She helped many students obtain their first internships and jobs in the industry, as well as started Film Roman’s highly successful internship program. Phyllis encouraged many colleagues to further their education, and freely gave her insightful advice on schools, portfolios and resumes. There is no better way to honor Phyllis Craig’s memory than to help the future generations of women in animation gain the education needed for our wonderful and wacky industry. Submissions will be accepted starting September 15th. The deadline for applications is April 29th in honor of Phyllis’ birthday. Winners will be notified by July 1st. The Phyllis Craig Scholarship Application Women in Animation proudly offers a scholarship of $1000 to a deserving

student once a year in honor of Phyllis Craig.

Requirements and Guidelines Who May Apply: 1) Applicant must be a full or part-time student enrolled in an accredited animation

program in the United States with a career goal of becoming an animation professional.

2) Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or a registered alien with the right to work in the

United States.

3) There must be a financial need.

Submissions Must Include: All materials must be submitted together. Clearly label all parts of your submission with name, email, address and phone number of applicant. Submissions that do not include all four requirements will not be judged. Submissions will not be returned.

1) A portfolio or reel. Portfolio artwork should be copied and reduced to 8.5 by 11”. Do not send originals, portfolios and/or reels will not be returned.

2) A 500 word essay outlining educational and career goals, and financial need. Essays should be typewritten or clearly printed.

3) One written recommendation from a teacher or mentor.

4) A copy of your Student Identification.

Award: One winner will receive a $1,000 award and a one year membership in Women in Animation.

Judging: Judging is solely the responsibility of WIA and the decision is final. Judging will be done by the WIA Scholarship Committee.
