It is our pleasure to present to you the July11 issue of Peninsula Post – the mouthpiece of Rotary Club of Bombay Peninsula. This is a medium to connect you with the happenings at Peninsula. You would have been a part of most such happenings. We seek to bring the vivid images, descriptions of such happenings to you to make up for what you may have missed. We begin this Rotary year 2011-12 with a change of guard. Rtn Jaykumar Toshniwal takes charge from Rtn Chandrashekhar Daga. The new Board of Directors take charge from the outgoing Board. The Board displays a heady mix of fresh talent and wealth of experience. It imbibes the Club Leadership Plan.

I shall strive to support them in all their endeavors to bring glory to the club.    Our member Rtn Ashok Kelkar invited all club members to an evening of gazals (competion) at Dadar Matunga Cultural Centre, Dadar. This organization regularly conducts music competitions across several cities spanning few months with finals around December.

RIP Kalyan Banerjee inaugurated “Saarthak” the vocational training centre initiated by Rotary Club of Bombay Central at YMCA near Maratha Mandir Cinema. Our members Anil Jain, Anup & Seema Taparia attended the function.

Shri Anurag Kedia, CEO, The Four Fountain spa presented the nature of spa, types of spa treatment, product and market differentiation strategy to scale up the spa services. He presented special discount vouchers to all members present.

    Shri B.K.Soni, CEO, Eco Recycling Ltd presented the growing menace of e-Waste and showed that management of e-Waste is a good business opportunity. It also helps reduce carbon footprint.

Weekly meeting: 28-Jul-11:    Dr. Mona Shah, Eye surgeon, Activist,

candidate for Indian Parliamentary elections 2009 spoke on the then burning issue “Jan Lokpal Bill” and highlighted glaring differences between the Government’s Lokpal Bill and Jan Lokpal bill.

She also offered co-operation, guidance and help for our club’s Cataract Eye Surgery project.

Seminar on Polio Plus held on Sunday 31-Jul-11 at Nehru Science Centre, Worli. Rotary Club of Bombay Worli was the lead host club alongwith several other co-host clubs. Rtn Shyam Todi, Director (Polio Plus), Rtn Anup Taparia, Director (Club Admin) and Prez Rtn Jay Toshniwal attended the seminar.
