Left ventricle

The heartIt all starts by the left ventricle of the heart contracting and getting smaller

Page 3: The path of a red blood cell through the body to the heart

Aorta

It then pushes red blood cells into the aorta so the process of the cells traveling through a series of arteries can begin

Page 4: The path of a red blood cell through the body to the heart

Blood cells

Capillary

Once the blood cells have travel through the arteries it then reaches the capillary

Body tissue

Oxygen molecules

Red blood cells

From there oxygen moleculesthen break off into the body's tissue

Body tissue

This way to Heart

Un-oxygenated blood

Now the un-oxygenated blood makes its way back to the heart

Page 7: The path of a red blood cell through the body to the heart

Un-oxygenated blood is here transferred to the heart

Un-oxygenated blood cells

Vain

Un-oxygenated blood

The un-oxygenated blood travels through the vain and is then sent to the right atrium

Page 9: The path of a red blood cell through the body to the heart

The right atrium

The blood cells here get passed through the right atrium and are lead to the right ventricle

Right ventricle

Pulmonary arteries

Lungs

Blood cells

Oxygen molecules

The blood cells pass through the right ventricle and go through the pulmonary arteries. The blood cells pick up oxygen molecules on the way and deliver them to the lungs.

Left ventricleOxygenated blood

Blood cells

Once the oxygenated blood has been passed through the left ventricle the blood cells start the process again
