Third Sunday of Advent
“Cry out with joy and gladness for among you
is the great and Holy One of Israel.”
Today is “Gaudete Sunday.” As we know, Gaudete simply means “to rejoice.” This Advent, we are preparing to live a new experience of love and faith in God. Christ has been born, but he must also be born in the heart of each Christian. This season, the church provides us a new opportunity to realize this birth in faith. So it is a great reason to be happy because we are about to live this experience.
As we come closer to the feast of Christmas, the church encourages us to rejoice because God is about to fulfill
his promise to us. However, this does not mean we have come to the end of our preparation. Instead, it is
a way of urging us to be more focused and courageous. It is also a way of assuring us that our preparations
shall soon be rewarded.

Placement Of The Christmas Crèche at Christ, Prince of Peace Church
In enhancing the environment before the Nativity of The Lord, the crèche would be most appropriately placed in the left naïve, Our Lady of Czestochowa Icon. In this area the greatest amount of reverence can be shown to the crèche. Placing the crèche in the naïve acts as a way to symbolize a well-established Christian tradition of the nativity being depicted in a cave. The cave more specifically symbolizes the Cave of the Nativity in Bethlehem, underneath the Church of the Nativity. In placing the crèche in the left naïve, it will better symbolize a cave setting and just as the three wise men traveled to see Jesus in a small cave, we too, can travel to see our Lord and gather close to see Him.
Placement Of The Christmas Crèche at St. Lawrence Church
The Christmas crèche, an object of devotion, in St. Lawrence Church, is placed at the altar by St. Joseph. With this in place on the right front of the church, it offers many to pass by, whether it be at communion time, or a visit with family before or after Mass. The openness of the crèche offers us to draw near and offer our prayers to the new born Jesus. The season of Advent, in preparation for Our Lord’s Birth, ought to make us come closer to the Lord and inspire us to forget all that keeps us from Him, so that at His birth we present ourselves to the One that saves us.
