Intern We would like to welcome Meghan Thomas to the Pride as a guidance intern this semester. She will be completing her degree soon and will be with us until December. Ms. Thomas will be working closely with Mrs. Herlong. She will be conducting individual and small group counseling, along with some classroom guidance lessons.

Classroom Guidance We want your child to be as successful as possible at school. Success in school is not just about reading and math. It is also about knowing how to learn and how to get along with others. Mrs. Herlong will be using the Second Step program in 1st through 5th grades during classroom guidance this year. The Second Step program has been designed to help students learn, practice, and apply skills for self-regulation and social-emotional competence. The program teaches skills in the following four areas: Skills for Learning, Empathy, Emotion Management, and Problem Solving.

CogAT All second graders will be taking the CogAT test during the mornings of October 29, 30 and 31. The test is given as a screening measure used in identifying Gifted and Talented Students.
