Investigation oCase study:o To make my case study more efficient for my final design , i should take some photo from the school environment rather than just take random photos from the Internet to really getting the case study of my productinto the SWA environment. oDesign ： oI’m pretty satisfy with the application I work on with the Google Sketch up , but I want all the craving part to be in 3-dimensional rather than just a flat surface because the curve part is the special part which give different looks and accent to the sofa itself.

Evaluating My performance


PlanAll of my Plan was simple, and each step is pretty easy to do, i just have to cut the boards in the same sizes and then stick the front side of the sofa and cut the shape. I changed my process from the step by step i wrote in my investigation because there were some easier way to make the product and i could save more time.CreateoI did all my step in my workshop all on time and some of them are faster than the estimated time that i wrote on the Gantt chart. oEvaluateoI think this activity a good step to do after we done the workshop so we should know our strength and weakness in the next we project we should done better from the investigation until the evaluation

Title Testing Successful or not why?

MaterialsI’m going to have samples of

fabric and see which one is the strongest and most durable. ☺☹

I would like to use velour fabric because velour fabric is a eco friendly material but i can’t find the fabric in the school and at home. so rather that use the fabric, i only

use the cardboard and paper

SizeI will make sure my sofa are

capable to be used for 5-6 people in a time

☺My sofa model is right on place for 6 people 3 in the right side and 3 in the left side and the real sofa is going to

be in the medium big size

FunctionTest if we can seat comfortably in

the sofa or not ☺ The real function of this sofa is going to be for seating , lounging, and relaxing around the building area

Safety

After the sofa is done, I will make sure to make the edges perfectly coated and the softness level of the cushion won’t hurt people’s

back.

☺Before coloring each surface with the cardboard or paper i used the sander to make sure that there is no sharp

edges

Aesthetics

I am going to be brave about the shape and put as many

curves in the wood . Big and eye catching with classic taste

and modern color

☹I have no tool to make the real curve in the sofa. And

also from my google sketch up i didn’t put some detail

on the body of the sofa

Cost

I will make sure to have a reasonable budget and will

make the furniture professional looking.

☺As i mention before the price should not be so expensive ,

for this model i only used the card board, paper, and acrylics paint . In addition i used wood for the base of

cushion of the sofa

EnvironmentI’m going to do a research first

and compare materials. ☺ i used the materials which are easy to

recycle, for example; card board and paper. For coloring its part, i

used the paint

Manufacture

I’m going to ask experts for suggestions and supervision so that it would be safe and

the product will be good enough.

Successful Points

+ My Favorite things about my product is that the color really catchy to my eyes, as i wanted. I got the gold paint , for the body part as the real product will be sprayed with it. The border of the sofa’s body( curved part ) was cut nicely .

+For the cushion, the color mixture (blue+ green) made a perfect torquiest color for the cushion, as i made in the design stage.

+The border of the sofa cut nice and neat. The sander are also made it perfect because the surfaces are smooth and my sofa is also good looking.


Least Successful PointsColor

The color of the sofa should be spreading more equally and all the parts. I should waited patiently to let one layer dry and overlap it with another layer.

Neatness:

At some part of the sofa, i can’t cover the surface fully because the glue i used it’s to thick for the materials i choose. The paper is too thin and it absorbed a lot of the glue. It made the paper shrink and it couldn’t cover all the surface.

In cutting process i should cut slower using the fret saw


Modifications/Improvements

Since this is my very first time in doing IT/ DT real product , i think for next time I should have been listening to all the process and all of the criteria I have to follow ( adaptation)from the first step of the investigation . From the very first time of modification i should think about more relevant product so my design will be more creative in all aspects. Time punctual are also a very important issue to be aware off.

In creating the product i should be more patient and more aware of the size, edges and in cutting the product. I should make my product more neat .


Least SuccessfulCuttingSometimes it’s hard for me to use the fret saw to cut the board into shapes. I should set the speed of the fret saw become slower.

GluingI should use a strong glue paper to cover my product with paper/cardboard because the glue wont left any mess.

NeatnessI should be more careful in covering the surface with the paper because sometimes the paper got softer and cannot cover all the surface as i wanted . i should have been using the glue stick instead of PVA glue because it’s to hard for those material i used.

The color should be more spread equally in all part of the surfaceUse the paper glue because PVA glue made the surface rough and wet.

The sofa i made will be very usable and suitable for those who want to relax themselves in school. They can use the sofa while relaxing themselves during lunch /recess. It is also able peers to gather around and chilling with this sofa. For those who want to seat on the sofa while they are studying, they will be more focus becaus my product is nice, big, and comfortable!.

The Impact on to Society


In big scale of production,in term of natural resources : my sofa would be a negative effect to the environment because it has a big size and it could increase the level of global warming. Although if is no longer wanted, the sofa could be easy to be recycled because it is wood. We could make another smaller-sized product with it (use another usable parts from the sofa.)
