INITIAL FILLING AND CHARGING

• Remove the filling plugs and sealed cap

• Fill the dilute sulphuric acid (Should confirm to IS 266) of 1.240 ± 0.005 specific gravity for KickStart Vehicle application and 1.270 ± 0.005 for self-start vehicles upto the maximum level mark.

• Allow the battery to cool for 30 minutes

• Check the level and restore the level to the maximum mark with diluted sulphuric acid initially used.

• Ensure positive and negative terminals are connected properly to the corresponding charger terminals to avoid reverse charging.

• Select proper voltage and specified current for charging.

• Ensure the connections are tight before switching on the charger.

• Continue charging at the specified rate approximately 8-10hrs till the cells are gassing freely and voltage remains same for 3 consecutive readings on a hourly basis with a terminal voltage of 16V for 12V battery.

• Do not allow the battery temperature to exceed to 50°C, discontinue charging and allow the battery to cool off to room temperature.

• Confirm specific gravity in all cells is identical as per the requirement of 1.230 to 1.240 & 1.270 to 1.280 at 27°C.

• Switch off the charger, disconnect the charging cables and allow the battery to cool to room temperature.

• Check for the electrolyte level, if it is below the minimum level, top up with distilled water (Should confirm to IS 1069) up to the maximum level and charge the battery for an hour.

• Keeps away naked flame, lighted cigarette from the charging area as it may lead to explosion, charging room should be well ventilated.

• Place the vent plugs back in its position by using proper tools.

• Clean the battery with wet cloth to remove the acid strains and later wipe it with dry cloth.

• Apply Petroleum jelly on the terminals.

• Keep battery container sides and top surfaces always clean and neat

• Always top up with distilled water or de-mineralized water (IS1069) only in flooded batteries

• Electrolyte level to be maintained between the Maximum and Minimum markings on the battery container.

• Keep the Battery terminals clean and free from accumulation of dust

• Apply petroleum jelly or Vaseline on to the terminals and Bolt and Nuts to avoid corrosion

• Always use proper Ampere Hour battery and suitable dimensions recommended by the OEM’s

• Electrical gadgets should be fixed as per the OEM’s recommendation.

• Check the vehicle RR unit/alternator output within the specified limit voltage range 14.2 to 14.4 Volts

• Keep the battery cradle in your vehicle clean and free from rust and corrosion and ensure that the battery fixed firmly on to the cradle.

• Vent plugs holes should be free from dust blocking of vent hole leads to accumulation of hydrogen gas which lead to bursting of battery

• Use proper tools while fixing and removing battery.

• Don’t top up with ordinary tap water, well water or rain water because all has excess minerals will affect battery performance.

• Topping up above the maximum marking level will leads to overflow which will create corrosion to metal parts in your vehicle and weaken the electrolyte strength and battery may fail prematurely

• Never ADD Acid

• Never apply grease to terminals because it has lot of minerals and is inflammable

• Don’t short the terminals of the battery for checking whether battery is good or bad.

• Rust or foreign particles deposits in the terminal will lead to voltage/current drop

• Never fix under Ampere Hour / Higher Ampere Hour battery than recommended by the specified OEM’s

• Extra Electrical Fitments other than OEM specified leads to premature failure of your battery.

• If rectifier regulator unit/Alternator output is beyond the specific recommended limit then this will create frequent topping up with distilled water. But failure to top up would lead to premature battery failure.

• Improper fitment or loose fitment of battery on the battery compartment or cradle leads to battery damage.

• Never Hammer battery terminals while fixing battery cables.

• Keep battery container sides and top surfaces always clean and neat

• Always top up with distilled water or de-mineralized water (IS1069)

• Electrolyte level to be maintained between the Maximum and Minimum markings on the battery container.

• Keep the Battery terminals clean and free from accumulation of dust

• Apply petroleum jelly or Vaseline on to the terminals and Bolt and Nuts to avoid corrosion

• Always use proper Ampere Hour battery and suitable dimensions recommended by the OEM’s

• Electrical gadgets should be fixed as per the OEM’s recommendation.

• Check the vehicle RR unit/alternator output within the specified limit voltage range 14.2 to 14.4 Volts

• Keep the battery cradle in your vehicle clean and free from rust and corrosion and ensure that the battery fixed firmly on to the cradle.

• Vent plugs holes should be free from dust blocking of vent hole leads to accumulation of hydrogen gas which lead to bursting of battery

• Use proper tools while fixing and removing battery.

• Don’t top up with ordinary tap water, well water or rain water because all has excess minerals will affect battery performance.

• Topping up above the maximum marking level will leads to overflow which will create corrosion to metal parts in your vehicle and weaken the electrolyte strength and battery may fail prematurely

• Never ADD Acid

• Never apply grease to terminals because it has lot of minerals and is flammable

• Don’t short the terminals of the battery for checking whether battery is good or bad.

• Rust or foreign particles deposits in the terminal will lead to voltage/current drop

• Never fix under Ampere Hour / Higher Ampere Hour battery than recommended by the specified OEM’s

• Extra Electrical Fitments other than OEM specified leads to premature failure of your battery.

• If rectifier regulator unit/Alternator output is beyond the specific recommended limit then this will create frequent topping up with distilled water. But failure to top up would lead to premature battery failure.

• Improper fitment or loose fitment of battery on the battery compartment or cradle leads to battery damage.

• Never Hammer battery terminals while fixing battery cables.

* GENSET APPLICATION AS PER OEM RECOMMENDATION

• Remove the tape provided on the covering vent hole on the vent plugs.

• Remove the vent plugs and store them safely.

• Apply Petroleum Jelly on the terminals.

• Fill the dilute sulphuric acid (should confirm to IS 266) of 1.240 ±0.005 @27°C specific gravity.

• Allow the battery to cool for 30 minutes.

• Check the level and restore the level to the maximum mark with diluted sulphuric acid initially used.

• Ensure positive and negative terminals are connected properly to the corresponding charger terminals to avoid reverse charging.

• Select proper voltage and specified current for charging as given in the table.

• Ensure the connections are tight before switching on the charger.

• Continue charging at the specified rate approximately 8-10 hours till all the cells are gassing freely and voltage remains constant for 3 consecutive hourly readings.

• Do not allow the battery temperature to exceed 50°C during charging. If it exceeds 50°C, stop charging and allow the battery to cool to room temperature.

• Confirm if the specific gravity is uniform in all cells with in the range of 1.230 to 1.240 at 27°C.

• Switch OFF the charger, disconnect the charging cables and allow the batteries to cool to room temperature.

• Check for the electrolyte level if the level is below the minimum level top up with distilled water (should confirm to IS 1069) up to maximum level and charge the battery for an hour.

• Keep away naked flamed, lighted cigarette from the charging area because it may cause explosion charging room should be well ventilated.

• Place the vent plugs back in position by using proper tools.

• Clean the battery with wet cloth to remove the acid strains and wipe with a dry cloth.

• Apply petroleum jelly on the terminals.

INITIAL FILLING AND CHARGING

A. THIS IS TO MAKE YOU AWARE THAT YOUR BATTERY REQUIRES CAREFUL HANDLING BECAUSE OF THE FOLLOWING :

• Lead Acid batteries contain Lead & Sulphuric Acid which is highly toxic and extremely hazardous for health and environment.

• Unauthorised smelters tend to pollute the Air and Ground Water with these toxic substances during smelting.

B. TO SAFEGUARD SOCIETY, THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA HAS NOTIFIED IN GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY [PART II - SEC:3(ii)] MENTIONED AS UNDER :

• It shall be the responsibility of the consumer / bulk consumers to ensure that the used batteries are not disposed of in any manner other than depositing with the Dealer, Manufacturer, Authorised Re-conditioner or at the designated collection centres.

• Please do not discard the battery in trash bin or give / sell to an unauthorised person.

• It is mandatory for our Authorised Dealers to accept a used battery and provide corresponding rebate on purchase of new battery.

• Please note that violations of these guidelines could lead to legal action / prosecution by Government Authorities under Govt. of India Law - Battery Management & Handling Rule 2001.

Note : All dealers should register with their State Pollution Control Board as per Form (7) of the Batteries (management & Handling) Amendment Rules, 2010.
