On Thursday we will be hold- ing a Farewell Party at re- cess. If you are free, please pop in to share this special celebration. Lana, Hugh and Lucas , thank you for sharing this year with us. Mrs Worth and I have enjoyed your creativity, your energy, your zest for learning and helping Hugh find his smile. We will be heartbroken to loose Lana and Hugh’s artis- tic prowess and Lucas’s bounce. We hope you enjoy Lana’s , ‘Nowendoc Public School’, featured in this edition. We wish Leisha, Paul, Lana, Hugh, Lucas and Lucy all the very best for their new ad- venture and remind them that they are now a part of the Nowendoc Public Family so they will be welcome at any- time. When discussing the planned party I suggested to the chil- dren that they may bring cakes, slices, biscuits, chips, lollies. As they rattled off their planned offering, something struck me...no one had sug- gested the lolly or chip op- tion. They all favoured mum’s baking. .. In a time when we are as- saulted with childhood health issues due to diet and exer- cise, I could sit there with my seven little Australians and smile. Thank you parents! Perhaps, ‘I’m a happy little Nowendocian, as bright as bright could be’, could be our new marketing stance. Children’s Week - What would you do if you ruled the world?

I would let the kids play all the time – Lucas (K)

I would build lots of sandpits to let kids play – Emily (Yr 1)

If I ran the world I would make sure all the people would have food and good shelter. I’ve looked at so many skinny kids starving to

death and I felt very sorry for them. Living without shelter would be awful! Hundreds of kids live in cardboard shacks and some have no shelter at all. Once I went down to the scrub to make a shack out of whatever I could find to sleep in, for one night ,and I hated it. – Lana

(Yr 4)

I would let children have free time on the middle of the day at school – Parker (Yr 1)

I would let the poor children go to school. I would give the kids uni-forms, pencils, books and food. – Hugh (Yr 2)

I would create a machine which turned salt water from the ocean into fresh water which we could drink. I’d then send the water to underde-veloped countries. But only when I said so, so we didn’t use up the

entire ocean. – Lis (Yr 6)

Nowendoc Ladies Auxiliary 2012

Throughout 2012 we catered for the Nowendoc Bushman’s Carnival, Rotary Dinner between Gloucester and Walcha Clubs, Armidale Probus Club and cattle sale at the local yards.

We were able to contribute to Nowendoc P&C, Tennis, Hall, Church and RFS committees as well as Community Christmas Day Lunch Committee, Westpac Helicopter, Angel Flight, Riverview

Hostel and Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea Appeal.

In May we organised classes to help us use our mobiles efficiently.

In September we enjoyed a very sociable morning tea to meet our neighbours.

As we will be catering for the Bushman’s Campdraft, 31/12/2012—1/1/2013 we welcome any new members or helpers.
