Re-Elect Terrence Grant

to the

Leicester Town Board

As a member of Leicester Town Board for the past four years I: - Wrote, proposed and voted in favor of the current town laws titled ‘Junk on Property’ law and ‘Junkyard Law’. These two Town Laws are meant to replace the unpopular town law that had been enacted in 2002. • Understanding that there is no place in our Town where Adult entertainment is welcome, I wrote, proposed and voted in favor of the current town zoning law titled ‘Adult Use Zoning Law’ which regulates where any ‘Adult Only’ businesses could be established in our town.• Wrote, proposed and voted in favor of the current town ‘Right to Farm Law’. Understanding the business aspects of farming and that the “need to make hay when the sun is shining” may not always be favorable with some residents, this law attempts to resolve disagreements that may arise between neighbors and the agricultural community. • I have worked tirelessly in an effort to keep town taxes as low as possible without sacrificing the services we expect from our town government. • This year I wrote and proposed the town’s first ‘Employee Handbook’ that is under review by the town attorney. • As chairman of the Town Fracking Committee I com-piled community questions for review to the town attorney. I also submitted for review possible changes to the town Zoning and Highway Laws that would regulate any fu-ture fracking for gas within the town. So in hopes of continuing to move our town forward, I hope you will consider voting for me on November 5, 2013. Terrence Grant

His word became a nation’s pledge!

Electronics Recycling NewsEffective November 1, 2013 there will be a FEE for the disposing of Computer Monitors and Televisions with Cathode Ray Tubes. (not applicable to flat screens). This is necessary due to the fact that the Town will now be charged for the disposal of such items. Disposal of CRTs will usually cost $15-$20 depending on size, but is ultimately at the discretion of the Station Operator.

Committee Members NeededThe Town of Mount Morris has received a grant from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets for farmland protection. One of the requirements is to form an advisory committee from the township to work with a consultant to review the Mount Morris Town Com-prehensive Plan and local code. Women of Distinction Award Presenters

undaNaturallyN

Nunda Girl

ScoutTroop51065

Katelyn Costello and Montana Herman, two Girl Scouts from Nunda’s Troop #51065 were chosen to be Women of Distinction award presenters this year. The process of applying, being interviewed, interviewing their mentor, writing and giving a speech in front of hundreds has given these young women courage, confi dence and character....tools they carry into the future.

Left to right: Dr. Evelyn Kerney, Katleyn Costello, Montana Herman, Nancy Blaschak

We would like to thank the Girl Scouts for this amazing opportunity. Besides their role as presenters, Katelyn and Montana volunteered to sing the National Anthem.

As leaders and parents of these brave girls, we wish to express how very proud we are of the incredibly motivated young women that they are becoming.

Great Job!

Trick or Treat

Halloween sweetswreak havoc on your child’s teeth.

Halloween is just around the corner, and candy consumption will be in full force. We want you to be aware of the kinds of candy that are the worst for your children’s teeth.

Chewy, sticky sweets, such as taffy, gummy candies and caramels have the highest chance of cavities. These candies stick to everything inside of your mouth, including the grooves of your teeth The longer the food sticks to your teeth, the longer bacteria can feed on it, which could lead to a cavity.

Make sure your child is brushing twice a day for at least two minutes. Proper oral hygiene can avoid cavities.

SCLERODERMA

Scleroderma is a disease of the connective tissue. It is a type of auto immune

disorder, and it happens when the immune system mistakenly thinks that

healthy body tissue is the enemy and attacks it. This causes hardening of the

tissues. Localized scleroderma affects the skin and can cause shiny, tight

patches often on the hands or around the mouth. Systematic scleroderma can

cause damage to the body’s internal organs including the heart, the lungs, the

kidneys, and the digestive tract. The disease is rare and progressive, but it is not

contagious. People who only have scleroderma of the skin tend to have a better

prognosis than those who have scleroderma that affects the organs.

No medication has been found to be universally effective for all patients

with scleroderma. In an individual patient, the illness may be mild and not

require treatments. Because blood vessel damage is a primary part of the

pathology of scleroderma, patients with this disease must not smoke.

To schedule a consultation, please call GENESIS INTERNAL MEDICINE at

(585) 243-5109. Our office is located at 50 East South St., Suite 600, Geneseo.

P.S. Doctors are not completely sure what causes scleroderma.

PROTECT YOUR LIVER

October is Liver Awareness Month. Your liver is one of the most important organs of the body and you cannot live with-out it. Your liver filters every-thing that you eat, drink, and breathe and has many otherfunctions including:• Producing bile, which helps carry away waste and break down fats in the small intes-tine.• Filtering blood of drugs and other poisonous substances that you may consume or breathe in.• Removing bacteria from bloodstream.• Producing certain proteins.• Storing iron for the body. It is important to protect your liver from serious diseases in-cluding Hepatitis. Hepatitis can come in different forms includ-ing A, B, and C. The hepatitis virus can lead to liver damage, liver cancer, and even death. Sharing needles, having un-protected sex, or sharing per-sonal items like razors with someone who is infected with some forms of hepatitis virus spreads this disease. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Pre-vention, many people with Hepatitis do not know they are infected. Each year an estimated 25,000 people be-come infected with Hepatitis A, 43,000 with Hepatitis B, and 17,000 with Hepatitis C.Y ou can keep your liver healthy by following these sim-ple guidelines:• Get vaccinated. Hepatitis B vaccine is safe, effective, and the best protection.• Avoid excessive alcohol use. Women should not drink more than one alcoholic drink aday, and men should not drink more than two.• Avoid drug use. Drugs are made of chemicals and must be filtered through the liver.• If you are a drug user, DO NOT share needles. This can spread hepatitis.• Do not share personal items such as razors and tooth-brushes.• Cover your mouth, nose, and skin when using sprays, disin-fectants, and paint thinners toavoid breathing in chemicals that your liver will have to fil-ter.• Don’t have unprotected sex. Your sexual partner could have hepatitis.• Ask your doctor about being tested for Hepatitis. Please contact the Livingston County Department of Health at 243-7299 for any questions or concerns about Hepatitis or visit our website www.living-stoncounty.us/doh.htm

MOUNT MORRIS SHOPPER H SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2013

Dear Neighbor,

With three weeks remaining before you choose your next Sheriff, I want to personally express my gratitude to all of my supporters and speak candidly about my vision for the Sheriff’s Department in 2014 and beyond. I am very proud and honored to be the Republican nominee for Livingston County Sheriff, but please understand, I want to be a Sheriff for ALL the people.

Many of you––myself included––are tired of the negativity that campaigns often generate. I vowed at the beginning of this race to stay positive and to focus on our platform. Not only have I kept my promise, but my supporters have also remained positive. I will continue to run this campaign positively––even in the final weeks of the race––because the residents of Livingston County deserve no less.

I’m running for Sheriff, because I believe we can create a safer community without compromising fundamental values. I am an experienced cop in my 9th year with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department and an educated businessman in my 10th year with a multi-million dollar transportation company. I am proud to have earned my Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo in Business Administration. My experience in law enforcement and business qualifies me to effectively and efficiently lead the Sheriff’s Department.

My leadership will be transparent, so that anyone can easily see how the Sheriff’s Department spends taxpayers’ dollars, conducts business, or reviews employees for advancement. My team will be tough on crime, especially illegal drugs - the root cause of many crimes.

One of my campaign goals is to personally visit with or speak to as many residents of Livingston County as I can. I will continue to walk door to door but also make myself available to anyone who contacts me. So please feel free to call or email. As Sheriff, I will continue to keep an open door policy for employees and for our community members, whom I serve.

Troopers, Deputies, Officers, Republicans, Democrats, and Senators have endorsed me throughout this campaign; however, the endorsement that means the most to me is yours !

I am asking for your vote on November 5th. Together, we will create a safer Livingston County that operates more efficiently and serves ALL the people.

Kind Regards,

Tom Dougherty, Candidate for Sheriff of Livingston County
