Father Hansen’s Message . . .

A parishioner wrote me recently: “I was just in reflection and wanted to say how appreciative I am of how

you mention often about the work people do and that it is important (how Jesus and Joseph both labored) -

no matter how challenging, stressful or even mundane it may be. …”

If I were to give credit to others for my speaking about the great dignity of ordinary life and work it would

have to go to St. Josemaria Escriva. His feast day is coming up, June 26th

, and we’ll have a 6pm Mass and

hang a print of him and first-class relic in the back of the Cathedral. More on St. Josemaria then.

This weekend we celebrate Corpus Christi. It is also the weekend many of our children are making their First

Communions. Here is a quote of St. Josemaria on Corpus Christi: “Let’s turn our eyes to the holy Eucharist,

toward Jesus. He is here with us. He has made us a part of himself: ‘Now you are the body of Christ and

individually members of it.’ [1 Cor 12:27] God has decided to stay in the tabernacle to nourish us, strengthen

us, make us divine and give effectiveness to our work and efforts. Jesus is the one and at the same time the

sower, the seed and the final result of the sowing: the bread of eternal life.”

As you’ve heard at Masses, Fr. Becker will be moving to a new assignment and we’ll be receiving Fr.

Timothy Leete on July 1st. Please pray for them as they prepare for their new assignments. More details soon

for times to say goodbye to Fr. Becker and to welcome Fr. Leete.
