Greetings as we begin this month of May! May has traditionally in our Church, been dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is during this month that we have special devotion to Mary. Our Parish will be holding a Crowning of the Blessed Mother this Sunday after the 12:30 Mass. I invite all of you to come and join us for a brief prayer service of the Rosary and Litany of the Blessed Mother and the celebration of Crowning. All of this will happen at our Mary Shrine on the west side of the church. I want to congratulate all of the boys and girls of our Parish who made their First Communion this Saturday. I pray that they will frequently receive the Eucharist. I ask their parents to be sure to bring them to Mass all during the summer months and let them see you as you participate in the Eucharist. Our Religious Education classes have reached the end for this academic year. I hope that parents will continue to work with their children during these summer months. Remember parents

that the obligation to attend Mass each weekend is a serious one and to deliberately miss Mass is a mortal, serious, sin and requires confession prior to the reception of the Eucharist again. There is no reason to miss Mass because you are on vacation. There will be a year end Catechist meeting and dinner this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. This will be held in the Parish Center. I hope that all teachers and aides will be able to attend and share a meal together before the summer begins. I want to thank all the teachers who came to our special grade meetings. I was able to learn a lot from you and I hope that we can put into practice all the ideas that you presented. Again I say Thanks. There will be a YOUTH MINISTRY PLANNING MEETING on May 10, Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. All members of the planning committee are asked to be present. This meeting will take place in the Parish Center. The Pro-Life Committee of our Parish will have a special flower sale on Mothers Day weekend. Don’t forget to remember Mom in a special way next Sunday, MOTHER’S DAY, do this at the Mass that you will attend. I will be remembering all of your special intentions for your mothers, living and deceased, at all of my Masses next weekend. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS: Please remember to mail in your Religious Education Registration Form. We are depending on you to help estimate the number of classes we need and to order the right amount of supplies for the children.

Speaking of Religious Education, We are looking for teachers for our program and for those who would be able to be substitute teachers and aides in the program. I want to be able to fill in all these positions as soon as possible to assist those who will be working in our program. Please speak either to me or to Linda Burke in the Religious Education office. I know that you will answer this call and serve Christ as a part of our program. The Ordination of Mark Rosenbaum will be coming up very shortly. Mark will be ordained on June 2 at the Cathedral in Joliet and the next day have a special Mass in our Church. More information will come forward in the coming weeks. Our Diocesan Ministries Appeal is well under way and I hope that you have managed to make a pledge for this appeal. Your help will give many ministries an ability to assist many people in our diocese. I want to thank you for your assistance and your concern and willingness to assist the Diocese and all its people. There will be a meeting of our Lectors on Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the church; all lectors are invited to attend and we will welcome any newcomers. Lastly I want to address a situation that occurred last weekend at the 5:00 p.m. Mass. A young couple, the parents of two young children, received a most disturbing letter from some anonymous person of our Parish community. The letter was left in the pew that the family normally sits in. After reading this letter I can only say I want to apologize to them publicly for the letter and let them know that no one speaks in the name of this

Parish except me. I also want them to know that they are more than welcome to bring their children to Church and those who do not like them or the behavior of their children would be better to find another Parish. We at Divine Savior welcome all children and realize that children will be children. The anonymous person should hang their head in shame and they owe an apology to the family and I hope that God forgives them for their comments and remind them that they obviously need to reevaluate why they are coming to church. Shame on you! Your cowardly act will catch up with you. Well, I guess that this is all for now. Have a good week and be the best that you can be. In Christ, Fr. Bob

There will be a special meeting of the Youth Leadership Team on Thursday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center. Any teen 8th grade through senior in high school interested in being a part of the planning for our summer activities, is welcome to attend. Adults—if you are interested in joining the adult part of the Youth Leadership Team, you are welcome to attend as well. Completion of the Pro-tecting God’s Children program is required

In the early days of the Church, Paul often gave thanks to one community

for its support of another. The Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal is

today’s manifestation of this tradi-tion of giving to others in need. If you have not yet made your gift,

please do so today.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives His disciples — and us —

a new commandment: “Love one another.” Good stewards who spend their time and

talents in service to others are well on their way to
