As there has recently become a vacancy on the University Council, the Liaison Group has also agreed to nominate the Revd Dr Tim Macquiban as one of those two members (alongside the Chair of the Southlands Liaison Group). The appointment is formally made by the university, and as such this nomination does not act as confirmation, but is required for the university to take action.

The Council is therefore asked to approve the membership of the Southlands Liaison Group and the Southlands Methodist Trust as listed above, and to approve the nomination of Tim Macquiban also as a member of the University Council, for ratification by the university in due course (see resolution 81/2).

Samuel McBratney (5) Previously Director of the Global Christianity Programme at the Queen’s Foundation in Birmingham. Timothy Macquiban (31) He has held senior appointments in Higher Education and has extensive experience across a range of connexional bodies. He has been involved in the ecumenical work of Southlands College, and in particular its focus on exploring and developing Methodist – Roman Catholic social action projects, including the creation of an ecumenical student chaplaincy community house at the college. Reg Marriott (23) The independent chair of the Plymouth and Exeter District Safeguarding Group and an independent social work consultant who has also assisted the connexional Safeguarding Team in completing some of the Past Cases enquiries. Andrew Maxfield (11) Trained as a solicitor and is an associate lecturer for the Open University. He is a church and property steward and is a local preacher on trial.
