Wow, it’s hard to believe but 2020 is just around the corner. One of the things I love to do at the end of one year and the beginning of the next is to reflect on the previous year. One such memory that stands out is our youth group taking plates of cookies and song to folks in our Bondurant community. We took a plate to Dorothy, a recently widowed member of our church. As we walked into the front door (as we had arranged ahead of time) we set the sugary delights on
the table, and burst into We Wish You a Merry Christmas. When finished we started to head out the door but Dorothy had another plan. She invited us in for a lesson. In the back of my mind I was thinking “we have 13 other plates of cookies to deliver, the roads are slippery, and the clock is ticking.” But we stayed for a while….this was more important. And the lesson was nothing earth shattering; however, we were privileged to hear stories about Bondurant and BCC that only Doro-thy could have told us. The kids loved it and we all took something special away from that special moment. Plus, Dorothy used to lead the youth group many years ago, and for the kids to come out to her house was a bit of a “full circle.” This experience was an unexpected blessing. And if we wouldn’t have stopped to hear the lesson that God (and Dorothy) had in mind, than we would have missed out on the gift. As we begin to lean into 2020 take a moment to pause. What unexpected gifts does God have in store for 2020? For the BCC Youth Group…for our church…for each of our families….for each of us reading this article right now? What does God have in store for you in this 2020 year ahead? Only God knows. The First/Old Testament prophet Jeremiah once spoke the words “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). We may not know what lies ahead in 2020 but God does, and that plan includes many positive things, many blessings. I hope we don’t miss out on them. For if we want to lean into those blessing, and those unexpected gifts, it would behoove us to pause and acknowledge God as the source and sovereign. To not be in too big of a hurry. And to keep our eyes on, and listen to the one who does know all. Maybe that’s by taking time for prayer and reflec-tion in your life. Or making a renewed effort to come to worship. Or to maintain your fantastic at-tendance record. Or to pick a few books of the Bible that you want to read and know. Lets follow Isaiah’s advice in 2:5, “Come, you who follow in God’s way, let us walk in the light of the LORD!” Excited for this year ahead, Pastor Jason

LAITY SUNDAY
Sunday, January 19, the elders will
be leading worship. We will cele-
brate and dedicate the gifts of the
Bondurant Christian Church Laity.
Join us on this special day when we dedicate
those who are serving in the 2020 year and
express our appreciation and offer encourage-
ment for the upcoming year.
MISSIONS NEWS
Even though this is the January 2020 newsletter,
my thoughts are centered on “thankfulness” from
our church family for your thoughtfulness,
generosity and support for those less fortunate.
Salvation Army - Ringing of the Bell
Thanks again to everyone who volunteered to Ring
the Bell in November. I recently received emails
from Salvation Army sharing the dollars we raised
for this year’s campaign . . .November 15th -
$79.50; 16th - $249.53; 18th - $64.72; and 19th -
$34.45 ... for a total of $428.20. This is a substan-
tial amount coming from our little church at Brick
Street Market.
Christmas for Hope Ministries Children
December 2nd was an exciting day when Keith and
I drove our loaded-to-the-top Ford Edge to Hope
Ministries to present to them Christmas presents
from our church family. These presents will be
given to the moms for them to give to their chil-
dren on Christmas. Without our
support, moms would be unable to do this
special thing and would miss treasured memories.
In addition to taking Christmas gifts that day, we
even had several items from the Birthday box to
deliver. So fun! You all are getting very creative in
your shopping and I love it! . . .
as do the staff at Hope Ministries. Hugs to each
and everyone of you for your continued support.
We look forward to many more heartwarming
moments in 2020.

ued support. We look forward to working together

Happy New Year! We, at the preschool, wish you a wonderful 2020!
After a relaxing break, we are all ready to start the New Year in preschool. We will begin
January with the themes of Snowmen, Hats & Mittens, Penguins, & Winter Fun. We will contin-
ue to work on our self help skills by getting ourselves ready to go home at the end of our pre-
school day.
We will also be remembering how unique and special we are! Just like a snowflake! God
made us that way! The preschoolers love our daily devotion time as we continue to put our
focus on Jesus. And, having chapel with Pastor Jason has been wonderful! Mrs. Schopf has
been playing the piano for the preschoolers as well! They really look forward to this time and
are learning so much!
The preschoolers chose gifts to give to the Bidwell Riverside's Toy Pantry
during the month of December. They were so grateful!!
