Leadership
Purpose: to conduct activities that help the individual develop technical, human relations, and decision-making skills to enhance personal success.
ACTIVITY GOALS WAYS & MEANS Member Degrees & Awards ● Recognize chapter members’
achievements in FFA by awarding advanced degrees and other awards at the annual FFA banquet
● Give applications to all members to fill out
● Encourage members to apply for higher degrees and awards
Career Development Events ● Have members participate in all events at the sub-district level
● Advance at least two CDEs to the district competition
● Advance at least one CDE to the state competition
● Make all members aware of the opportunities to compete in the CDEs
● Educate students on proper event procedures and rules
● Require members to practice their event
Program of Activities Committee
● Members select/are assigned to at least one standing committee
● Discuss committee goals and duties with members

Health and Recreation Purpose: to conduct activities to promote the well-being and self esteem
of the student, either mentally or physical
Activities Goals Ways & Means Good Conduct Policy ● All members shall read, sign,
and abide by the school’s good conduct policy
● The members will know that if they do not abide by this policy, they will be having a meeting with Ms. Imhoff and possibly not be allowed to participate in certain events and activities.
Christmas Party ● Host party prior to Christmas break
● Chapter will pay for food ● Include an activity to
participate on after eating
● The officer team will help plan the food and recreational activity for this event
● Schedule Christmas Party for after the December FFA meeting
Chapter Cookout/Picnic ● Plan and organize a cookout/picnic at the start of school year to get to know the old and new members
● The officer team can help plan this activity
● Schedule activity at the best time possible for members, by voting on possibilities at a chapter meeting
Refreshments/ Recreation ● Have refreshments after every meeting
● Try to plan recreational activity after each meeting
● Designate members to help set up and clean refreshments after the meeting
School Activities ● Get members involved in other extra-curricular activities and events that the school sponsors
● Encourage members to become more active in the schools various extra –curricular activities besides FFA

Supervised Agricultural Experience
Purpose: to conduct activities that promote student involvement and growth through agriculture-related experience and/or entrepreneurship
ACTIVITY GOALS WAYS & MEANS
Project Development ● All members must have an approved SAE
● Advisor, parents, and older members help younger members develop and maintain SAE programs
● Have listings and examples of past SAE projects to help younger members find an SAE suitable for them
● Let students look through idea cards to see if anything interests them
Proficiency Awards ● Ten members every year complete application for chapter proficiency awards
● Submit at least 3 proficiency awards for district competition
● Encourage members to keep accurate records and apply for chapter proficiency awards
● Monitor records periodically to ensure they are accurate and offer rewards for applying
Ag Skills Development ● All members will develop Ag skills, competencies, and knowledge in their SAE programs
● SAE record book must be submitted with records of skills, competencies and knowledge of the SAE quarterly.
● Encourage members in developing skills and abilities useful in the agricultural industry or any future career
Shows/Exhibition ● At least 15 members will show and/or participate in the Des Moines County Fair
● At least 3 members will compete and/or participate at the Iowa State Fair
● Encourage students in showing livestock or other projects at local, state and national levels
● Make information on rules/guidelines, weigh-in dates, requirements, and any other important information available to members
Degree Advancements ● Every eligible member will apply for the Greenhand and Chapter FFA Degrees
● Qualified seniors or juniors complete applications for State FFA Degrees
● Provide members with knowledge of degrees and how to obtain them
● Coach and encourage members to keep accurate and up to date SAE records
● Hold State FFA Degree application workshops to help students with the process
Record Keeping ● Every member has knowledge of record keeping and its requirements
● Every member has accurate and complete records
● Provide members with appropriate and thorough record keeping materials
● Offer workshops throughout the year, both during and after school, to assist members with their records
Youth Project Loans/Grant Programs
● Make members aware of the financial aid available for their SAE projects
● Post information on available aid for SAE projects throughout the classroom
Guest Speakers ● Invite guest speakers to provide and demonstrate excellent SAE programs
● Use older, experienced chapter members as guest speakers to demonstrate personal experiences with SAEs

SAE Presentations ● Members will explain their SAE projects in a presentation to the class and/or other members
● Provide presentation examples and guidelines to what is expected for the presentations
● Prepare presentations using class and personal time
● Required as 10% of member’s grade in class
Scholarship
Purpose: to conduct activities that develops a positive attitude toward lifelong learning experiences
ACTIVITY GOALS WAYS & MEANS
Academic Eligibility ● All of the active FFA members shall abide by the school district policies regarding academic eligibility requirements
● Members that are academically ineligible will not be able to participate/ complete in FFA activities above the local level or attend functions representing the chapter
● If so needed, the FFA Advisor can remind students often that they are on the eligibility list and encourage them to try and get off of it
● Have a list of all the active FFA members in the room so a student can find out if they are ineligible
● Students are required to attend “Study Table” in the library after school every day for 30 minutes until they are either complete or passing in the class
Scholarship Award ● Present all FFA members that have made school honor roll (for at least two terms per year) with a scholarship pin to recognize their accomplishments at the annual FFA banquet
● 40% of chapter members should earn this recognition
● Keep an updated list of people who were on the honor roll per quarter so the student knows for sure if they are on it or not
Creelman Sponsored College Scholarship
● Present one $1000.00 scholarship for a senior who has been active and continuous FFA member for a minimum of 3 years and has an interest in agriculture
● Senior members must complete a written application before graduation and submit it by the set due date
● The scholarship will be given based on acceptance at the Iowa State University or any other approved school
● Have $1000.00 set aside every year for the scholarship
● A committee along with the FFA advisor should decide who receives the scholarship
● The student will apply for this scholarship at least 2 months before graduation

National FFA Scholarships ● Encourage senior and out of school FFA Members to apply for scholarships through the National FFA Scholarship program
● Participating members must complete the scholarship application process and submit the application to the National FFA by February 15th
● Send letters to all out if school members informing them of the available scholarships through the National FFA Scholarship Program
● The application must be completed and submitted to the National FFA by February 15th.
Ag Related Scholarships ● Promote agricultural scholarship opportunities to all senior FFA members
● Encourage students to apply for any scholarship that may help them finance their college education and expenses
● Put out information to all juniors and seniors about the available scholarships
● Send out letters concerning these scholarships to the families of the seniors
Agricultural Careers
Purpose: to conduct activities that develop agricultural occupation and career skills through a progressive learning environment
ACTIVITY GOALS WAYS & MEANS
Ag Skills Career Development Events
● Compete in at least three contests a year
● Advance to state in at least one contest
● Provide information about Ag skills CDE’s to all FFA members
● Encourage members to participate in contests
● Schedule study and preparation times for events
National Convention Career Show
● Provide students with a variety of information about careers and opportunities in agriculture
● Collect information from at least 3 colleges with programs the members are interested in
● Provide members in attendance at National Convention with time to go to the career show
● Encourage members to go to National Convention career show and gather information and resources
● Identify colleges with programs of interest to the students
State Leadership Conference Career Show
● Provide students with a variety of information about careers and opportunities in agriculture
● Collect information from at least 3 colleges with programs the members are interested in
● Encourage members in attendance at State Leadership Conference to attend the career show
● Interested members can visit with college representatives that could potentially provide assistance with future plans/goals

College Tours/Speakers ● Provide interested students with a better knowledge of agricultural programs close to home/within the state of Iowa Encourage all members to attend a postsecondary educational facility
● Organize college tours as needed to help students make better decisions regarding their future plans
● Invite college speakers to chapter meetings and Ag classes to explain their Ag program and other areas of interest
Guest Speakers ● Provide the students with more knowledge of agriculture careers available
● Give the students potential networking options with local/area agricultural career representatives
● Provide a variety of agricultural career representatives to discuss future plan options
● Schedule times during school and at FFA meetings for guest speakers to visit with students
Farm Progress Show ● Improve student’s knowledge of Agriculture
● Provide first hand viewing of new agriculture equipment and technologies
● Require five different business cards from different sale representatives
● Take all students on bus to Farm Progress Show
● Student must have at least a 2.5 Grade Point Average.

Recruitment
Purpose: to conduct activities to increase agricultural education enrollment and/or FFA membership and encourage greater participation
ACTIVITY GOALS WAYS & MEANS
Promotion Materials ● Inform all students and potential members of happenings in the FFA and agricultural class offerings
● Promote the benefits of the FFA and the incentives it has to offer
● Form a committee to design a brochure or handout
● Publish the brochure or handout on the FFA and what it has to offer
● Provide brochures/handouts at the 8th grade recruitment activity
8th Grade Recruitment ● Create a skit for the purpose of recruiting potential future members in the 8th grade
● Perform the skit to all 8th graders in the school during National FFA week
● Form a team of FFA members to design and organize the project
● Utilize resources within the classroom and contact other FFA chapters for ideas
● Schedule a time and place for the skit to be performed
● Provide students with FFA handouts/brochures
National FFA Week ● Put on a FFA lunch for faculty; hold a petting zoo; and plan and carry out one activity each day to involve FFA members
● Promote the FFA to others in the school and community by increasing the awareness of FFA and what is has to offer members and supporters
● Create promotional materials and hang them around the school and community
