THE MANGALYAAN

•“The Mangalyaan” Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) is a “Technological Demonstrator”. • It is India’s first interplanetary mission. •It was launched on 05th November 2013 by ISRO at Dhawan Space Center, Shriharikota.•The Total cost of mission was approximately 450 Crore INR, making it least expensive Mars Mission to date.

Technical Objectives•Design and realization of Mars Orbiter.•Orbit around the Mars•Deep Space Communication, Navigation, Mission Planning and Management.Scientific Objectives•Exploration of Mars surface features.•Study of Morphology, Topography, Mineralogy and Martian atmosphere by Indigenous scientific instruments.•To see mars had the environment in which life evolved.

•Lyman-Alpha Photometer(LAP)– It is a Photometer that measures relative abundance of Deuterium and Hydrogen.•Methane Sensor for Mars(MSM) – It will measures methane in atmosphere of mars.•Mars Exospheric Neutral Composition Analyzer(MENCA) – Quadrupole Mass analyser capable of analsing the nuetral composition of particles in the exosphere.•Thermal Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (TIS) – It will measure the temperature and emissivity of the Martian surface.•Mars Colour Camera (MCC) – will provide images in the visual spectrum, providing context for the other instruments.

The Grand Success

Finally, After a long Period of 298 days on 24th September 2014 “The Mangalyaan” has arrived his destination and has captured it’s first photo.

The successful entry of “Mangalyaan” into the Red Planet’s orbit is a once-in-generation achievement and “Indian Scientist Created History”, In “Never Before” moment.

India has become fourth space agency to reach mars, in first attempt and first Asian nation to do so. With least expensive cost of about 450 crore INR. India has left China and Japan in race to explore the Red Planet.
