Farewell to Alicia EximiusFarewell to Alicia Eximius Hotel Front Desk Supervisor whose last day was Thursday December 31 Her last day of work was the last day of 2015
Alicia has worked with us at Grand Casino Mille Lacs for 11 years (she just celebrated her 11 year anniversary last week on December 20 Alicia spent all 11 years in the Hotel she started offas a House Person then moved to Reservations then transferred to the Front Desk and later became the Hotel Front Desk Supervisor
Alicia is moving to Salem Oregon with her husband Brandon and two kids Lilliana (age 8) and Zenius (age 3) Brandon is pursuing his career after finishing his college degree Alicia plans to finish up college next

We have had a contract with Gateway since 1998 related to on site health care ndash we began Casino Care in the Hinckley clinic so that our Associates could get urgent care with no cost Associates can be treated at Gateway in Hinckley Sandstone and Moose Lake as well as at Mille Lacs Health Systems in Onamia Isle Garrison and Hillman for urgent care without a cost to them
We worked with Gateway last year to upgrade the Hinckley clinic and we created this beautiful medical facility It has the clinic eye glasses and pharmacy all in one building

Vermont Maple CookiesSubmitted by Tony Sanford for the Cookie Contest at the Holiday Party Incgredients frac12 cup shortening 2-34 cups flour 1 Tbsp maple extract 1-12 cups brown sugar (packed) frac12 tsp soda 1 cup chopped nuts2 eggs 1 tsp salt 1 cup sour cream
Directions1 Mix shortening sugar and eggs thoroughly Stir in sour cream and maple extract Stir together flour soda and salt blend in Mix in nuts Chill dough if it is soft
2 Heat oven to 375deg Drop rounded tablespoonful of dough on greased baking sheet Bake about 10 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly If desired spread cooled cookies with double recipe of Maple Butter Glaze
Maple Butter GlazeHeat frac12 cup butter until golden brown Blend in two cups sifted confectioners sugar and two teaspoons maple flavoring Stir in two to four tablespoons hot water until icing spreads smoothly

Christmas Door Decorating ContestThere was a Christmas Door Decorating contest in the facilities basement area The Project Department won
Fifth Annual Mille Lacs Polar Bear Plunge is Coming Soon Saturday March 12 11 am Registration 1 pm Plunge
On Saturday March 12 Grand Casino Mille Lacs will sponsor the fifth annual Mille Lacs Polar Bear Plunge on the shores near Eddyrsquos Resort to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota Our goal this year is to exceed the number of plungers last year ndash thatrsquos more than 300 brave individuals Are you ready for the challenge Grab a friend family member or co-worker and register today As of December 22 2015 there are 51 individuals registered to participate If you would like to participate or donate to a team or individual visit wwwplungemnorg and choose the Mille Lacs plunge location Participants need to raise a minimum of $75 to plunge Donations will be accepted on the day of the plunge and anyone interested in participating can register on the day of the event at the registration table Registration opens at 11 am with the plunge following at 1 pm

There was a group of us that checked in about the same time- we had three room reservations and had previously requested to be located close to each other When we got there that wasnt necessarily the case Dawn was excellent She helped us and got our rooms very close together which we really appreciated She has excellent customer relation skills with her sense of humor Please wish her a Merry Christmas from the crew on sixth floor on December 17th Thank you

FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING Thursday January 7 Winter Room in the Convention Center Classes at 6 am 8 am 10 am 1 pm and 3 pm
Fire Extinguisher Training has been scheduled for Thursday January 7 in the Winter Room of the Convention Center Associates in the following areas are required to attend this training every two years

A Grand Casino Christmas StoryOn Christmas Eve we had a Guest come to the front desk at Grand Casino Mille Lacs very upset and crying because she and her family (four young kids) were stranded at the hotel from a ldquocrisisrdquo and that her family was going to miss Christmas Kelly Naegele (we call her Jelly or Jellbow) is our hotel rooms controller Jelly our manager on duty didnrsquot ask any more questions about the crisis because she didnrsquot feel it was appropriate given how upset the Guest was The Guest proceeded and asked us if she could bring in a real tree to put in her room that night The Grand Market was giving them away We told the Guest that would not be possible because of fire code and possible safety issues However Jelly wasnrsquot satisfied with leaving it at that She went to Dustin Goslinrsquos office upset that morning and was on a mission to help create a special Christmas for a few young Guests So she recruited a little team - Jenny Buchholz Robbie Sawyer and Sara Bayliss - to think of ways to help The little Christ-mas Cheer Team went out and found an artificial tree for her and set it up in her hotel room This Christmas Cheer Team got together and found some fun gifts for each child after sending in Bayliss undercover to figure out the ages of each child and then wrapped them Jelly then called up Jim Caza Casino Host at home and asked him if he could help by bringing Santa in to deliver presents He agreed and came right in Jelly stated ldquoThis turned out to be the best day ever I will definitely be going home and cherishing everything I have this holiday I am greatful that I work with so many kind and generous people We couldnrsquot have pulled this off without each and everyonersquos helprdquo Jelly has a big heart and her mission was accomplished based on how happy and excited the kids were to see Santa

On Saturday March 12 Grand Casino Mille Lacs will sponsor the fifth annual Mille Lacs Polar Bear Plunge on the shores near Eddyrsquos Resort to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota Our goal this year is to exceed the number of plungers last year ndash thatrsquos more than 300 brave individuals Are you ready for the challenge Grab a friend family member or co-worker and register today As of December 22 2015 there are 51 individuals registered to participate If you would like to participate or donate to a team or individual visit wwwplungemnorg and choose the Mille Lacs plunge location Participants need to raise a minimum of $75 to plunge Donations will be accepted on the day of the plunge and anyone interested in participating can register on the day of the event at the registration table Registration opens at 11 am with the plunge following at 1 pm

A Grand Casino Christmas StoryOn Christmas Eve we had a Guest come to the front desk at Grand Casino Mille Lacs very upset and crying because she and her family (four young kids) were stranded at the hotel from a ldquocrisisrdquo and that her family was going to miss Christmas Kelly Naegele (we call her Jelly or Jellbow) is our hotel rooms controller Jelly our manager on duty didnrsquot ask any more questions about the crisis because she didnrsquot feel it was appropriate given how upset the Guest was The Guest proceeded and asked us if she could bring in a real tree to put in her room that night The Grand Market was giving them away We told the Guest that would not be possible because of fire code and possible safety issues However Jelly wasnrsquot satisfied with leaving it at that She went to Dustin Goslinrsquos office upset that morning and was on a mission to help create a special Christmas for a few young Guests So she recruited a little team - Jenny Buchholz Robbie Sawyer and Sara Bayliss - to think of ways to help The little Christ-mas Cheer Team went out and found an artificial tree for her and set it up in her hotel room This Christmas Cheer Team got together and found some fun gifts for each child after sending in Bayliss undercover to figure out the ages of each child and then wrapped them Jelly then called up Jim Caza Casino Host at home and asked him if he could help by bringing Santa in to deliver presents He agreed and came right in Jelly stated ldquoThis turned out to be the best day ever I will definitely be going home and cherishing everything I have this holiday I am greatful that I work with so many kind and generous people We couldnrsquot have pulled this off without each and everyonersquos helprdquo Jelly has a big heart and her mission was accomplished based on how happy and excited the kids were to see Santa

We have had a contract with Gateway since 1998 related to on site health care ndash we began Casino Care in the Hinckley clinic so that our Associates could get urgent care with no cost Associates can be treated at Gateway in Hinckley Sandstone and Moose Lake as well as at Mille Lacs Health Systems in Onamia Isle Garrison and Hillman for urgent care without a cost to them
We worked with Gateway last year to upgrade the Hinckley clinic and we created this beautiful medical facility It has the clinic eye glasses and pharmacy all in one building

Vermont Maple CookiesSubmitted by Tony Sanford for the Cookie Contest at the Holiday Party Incgredients frac12 cup shortening 2-34 cups flour 1 Tbsp maple extract 1-12 cups brown sugar (packed) frac12 tsp soda 1 cup chopped nuts2 eggs 1 tsp salt 1 cup sour cream
Directions1 Mix shortening sugar and eggs thoroughly Stir in sour cream and maple extract Stir together flour soda and salt blend in Mix in nuts Chill dough if it is soft
2 Heat oven to 375deg Drop rounded tablespoonful of dough on greased baking sheet Bake about 10 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly If desired spread cooled cookies with double recipe of Maple Butter Glaze
Maple Butter GlazeHeat frac12 cup butter until golden brown Blend in two cups sifted confectioners sugar and two teaspoons maple flavoring Stir in two to four tablespoons hot water until icing spreads smoothly

Participants learn the importance and process of goal setting practice setting goals and understand the impact that it has on their day-to-day life

A Grand Casino Christmas StoryOn Christmas Eve we had a Guest come to the front desk at Grand Casino Mille Lacs very upset and crying because she and her family (four young kids) were stranded at the hotel from a ldquocrisisrdquo and that her family was going to miss Christmas Kelly Naegele (we call her Jelly or Jellbow) is our hotel rooms controller Jelly our manager on duty didnrsquot ask any more questions about the crisis because she didnrsquot feel it was appropriate given how upset the Guest was The Guest proceeded and asked us if she could bring in a real tree to put in her room that night The Grand Market was giving them away We told the Guest that would not be possible because of fire code and possible safety issues However Jelly wasnrsquot satisfied with leaving it at that She went to Dustin Goslinrsquos office upset that morning and was on a mission to help create a special Christmas for a few young Guests So she recruited a little team - Jenny Buchholz Robbie Sawyer and Sara Bayliss - to think of ways to help The little Christ-mas Cheer Team went out and found an artificial tree for her and set it up in her hotel room This Christmas Cheer Team got together and found some fun gifts for each child after sending in Bayliss undercover to figure out the ages of each child and then wrapped them Jelly then called up Jim Caza Casino Host at home and asked him if he could help by bringing Santa in to deliver presents He agreed and came right in Jelly stated ldquoThis turned out to be the best day ever I will definitely be going home and cherishing everything I have this holiday I am greatful that I work with so many kind and generous people We couldnrsquot have pulled this off without each and everyonersquos helprdquo Jelly has a big heart and her mission was accomplished based on how happy and excited the kids were to see Santa

Christmas Door Decorating ContestThere was a Christmas Door Decorating contest in the facilities basement area The Project Department won
Fifth Annual Mille Lacs Polar Bear Plunge is Coming Soon Saturday March 12 11 am Registration 1 pm Plunge
On Saturday March 12 Grand Casino Mille Lacs will sponsor the fifth annual Mille Lacs Polar Bear Plunge on the shores near Eddyrsquos Resort to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota Our goal this year is to exceed the number of plungers last year ndash thatrsquos more than 300 brave individuals Are you ready for the challenge Grab a friend family member or co-worker and register today As of December 22 2015 there are 51 individuals registered to participate If you would like to participate or donate to a team or individual visit wwwplungemnorg and choose the Mille Lacs plunge location Participants need to raise a minimum of $75 to plunge Donations will be accepted on the day of the plunge and anyone interested in participating can register on the day of the event at the registration table Registration opens at 11 am with the plunge following at 1 pm

A Grand Casino Christmas StoryOn Christmas Eve we had a Guest come to the front desk at Grand Casino Mille Lacs very upset and crying because she and her family (four young kids) were stranded at the hotel from a ldquocrisisrdquo and that her family was going to miss Christmas Kelly Naegele (we call her Jelly or Jellbow) is our hotel rooms controller Jelly our manager on duty didnrsquot ask any more questions about the crisis because she didnrsquot feel it was appropriate given how upset the Guest was The Guest proceeded and asked us if she could bring in a real tree to put in her room that night The Grand Market was giving them away We told the Guest that would not be possible because of fire code and possible safety issues However Jelly wasnrsquot satisfied with leaving it at that She went to Dustin Goslinrsquos office upset that morning and was on a mission to help create a special Christmas for a few young Guests So she recruited a little team - Jenny Buchholz Robbie Sawyer and Sara Bayliss - to think of ways to help The little Christ-mas Cheer Team went out and found an artificial tree for her and set it up in her hotel room This Christmas Cheer Team got together and found some fun gifts for each child after sending in Bayliss undercover to figure out the ages of each child and then wrapped them Jelly then called up Jim Caza Casino Host at home and asked him if he could help by bringing Santa in to deliver presents He agreed and came right in Jelly stated ldquoThis turned out to be the best day ever I will definitely be going home and cherishing everything I have this holiday I am greatful that I work with so many kind and generous people We couldnrsquot have pulled this off without each and everyonersquos helprdquo Jelly has a big heart and her mission was accomplished based on how happy and excited the kids were to see Santa
