The Komen Foundation received a piece that set its logo apart from the multitude of Pink Ribbon pieces in the marketplace. By pre-senting a Lucite® Embedment in the shape of the organization’s logo, the Foundation continu-ally builds brand recognition and a unique pres-ence with everyone that views the piece.

From this, the creation has been started; a customized piece in maple with a dis-tinctive design that incorporated a single “8” as the only actual number on the face. On the reverse was the client’s engraved company logo. As an additional service, BCH handled all assembly, special pack-

aging and the insertion of a small bro-chure into each box. The box was labelled with a customized sticker matching the company’s colours, making it truly one-of-a kind. The dye colour of the wood has been carefully picked in function of the last trends in the interior decoration.

SolutionThe end result was a memento that each recipient could cherish to remember the special achieve-ment shared by all.

IndustryHunting And Fishing

ChallengeThe publisher of a hunting & fishing magazine wanted to offer its new subscribers a unique hunting knife with a wood fin-ish handle made in the shape of a plume. As the knives were to be mass produced by injection molding, the client wanted to reduce the possibility of error by creating a prototype in resin that would be an exact replica of the original.

A Knife With a Distinctive Touch

Through a special silicon molding process, BCH Unique created a reproduction of the knife that was a perfect likeness of the original, exact in ev-ery detail.

SolutionThere’s no need to buy a stock shape if you’re running out of time or you need a small quantity. We can custom cut out-line shapes in materials from 1/8” to 1” thick and decorate it using either laser engraving or digital printing. We have the right solution for you.

Solution

ClientThe Canadian Federation of Plastics And Composites

ChallengeThe federation wanted to develop its own distinctive award to give to members for achievements in a range of categories. The award would be handed out at the annual gala. The piece had to be fully customized and innovative, and one that could not be found anywhere else. It had to integrate the federation’s blue logo and be partially made of plastic in order to represent the industry sector the federation represented. The objective was to develop a heavy and prestigious piece that would become the federation’s equivalent of the “Oscar” one that every member would aspire to and feel proud to receive.

A Special Award Designed to TrulyReflect Corporate Image

To meet Hilton’s high standards for quality and appeal, the sign had to be attractive, durable and able to convey Hilton’s cor-porate image. As well, because it was to be used in over 82 countries worldwide, it need-ed to impart an international flair. The nished piece would need to be distributed to over 3,700 hotel locations around

the globe. The idea came to create a customized sign in a combination of Plexiglass and wood, with the greeting of Welcome in multiple lan-guages silkscreened into the background making it quickly identiable in any language. To enhance the HHonors brand, a metallic HHonors logo was custom cut, painted and at-

tached to the side of the sign, adding an extra dimension. All components were securely mounted to a painted wooden base. When completed, 3,700 individual signs were individu-ally boxed, custom-labelled and sent along to Hotel Managers with installation instructions and a personalized letter for each of the hotel’s individual ten brands.

The garden needed to feature each of its 200 different kinds of lilacs with individual signs that would carry both a photo-graphic image of each species and descriptive text. As well, each sign must be attractive, easily read by garden visitors and be able to withstand the rigours of a Quebec winter. BCH Unique created a stylish crystal

clear Lucite® piece and embed-ded it with a life-like image of the lilac and its descriptive text. By embedding the photos and text within the acrylic and treat-ing it to resist harmful UV rays it guaranteed the sign would remain air and water tight. Last but not least, the piece was combined with a long metal stake to allow the park owners

to insert it firmly into the earth. To add consistency and unifor-mity of the “look and feel” of the new signs, BCH created larger 12” x 18” Lucite® plaques which were placed at the entrance to the park and embedded with maps of walking paths which identified feature areas contain-ing new flowers.

SolutionBy utilising Lucite® and partnering it with metal, BCH was able to answer all the signage needs long life, weather resis-tance, high quality, at-tractive appearance and strength for the plea-sure of the visitors.

BCH Unique produced a paperweight with the needles as an embedment. To create the differences in needle length, a printed strip was used to hide the lower portion of the needle, thereby creating the illusion that needles ranging in length from 4mm to 14mm were visible. As every car has pistons and all pistons are the same, this shape was chosen for the award. Our first step was to recreate a three-dimensional piston, utilizing our virtual proof software. The dis-tributor went the extra mile by going to an automotive scrap yard to find a piston and take pictures

from all angles so our team of de-signers could make accurate draw-ings. An additional challenge for our team was that no time could be allowed for a pre-production sample. Our virtual proofs needed to be very accurate to give our cli-ent peace of mind.

SolutionOnce the final design was approved, the piece was rushed into production in order to meet the client’s event date. Only three weeks were avail-able to produce fifteen custom awards. Great communication and teamwork was the key to make this project a success. SolutionClients enjoyed the unique aspect of celebrat-ing with wine bottles that were personalized to reflect their achievement. This project dem-onstrates the creativity and commitment that BCH Unique can bring to a project. Not only can we etch any sort of bottle, but we will source it locally and handle the distribution to recipients across North America.

ChallengeA US client wanted to mark a successful financial transaction by etching the achievement on a specially selected brand of wine. After enjoying the wine as part of the achievement celebration, the bottle could be kept as a memento. To add complexity to the challenge, the bottles had to be shipped “cross-border” to recipients in Canada, however current import limitations do not permit the shipping of alcohol.

A Toast to Success!

BCH Unique began by sourcing the selected brand of wine in a Canadian liquor outlet. By doing so, the finished product could be shipped directly from the Cana-dian headquarters of BCH Unique to recipients. With a factory lo-cation in Amsterdam, New York,

BCH Unique could also undertake shipments to U.S. recipients if the need arose. For each of the wine bottles, depth and visual inter-est were created by etching each with a design that included a color fill, thus creating an elegant memento. 20

SolutionThe special gifts were presented at the product launch party hosted by the company for its em-ployees. Everyone was surprised with the great custom gifts they can display in their offices and talk about for time to come. Althought Pharma companies are restricted in gift giving externally, always keep in mind that they have many occa-sions internally to thank and commemorate great achievements.

A Product Launch Party Marksa Great Success!

Client needed a memento that could display information in vari-ous locations. A classic standing oval piece was selected and a touch of custom orange acrylic was used inside to match the company logo. The technical drug information was digitally printed

on an aluminium plate, which was positioned inside the block of Lu-cite®. Client’s logo was laser en-graved at the top of the piece.
