Parish Offices are Open
We are asking that everyone either call or email the rectory before coming

this time of transition and we look forward to seeing everyone soon.
LIGHT OF CHRIST CATHOLIC COLLABORATIVE FAITH FORMATION
REGISTRATION - 2020/21 Due to Covid-19 social distancing guidelines we will offer a Virtual Program to all grades 1-9 in both St. Bridget’s and Holy Ghost Parishes. Once registered, we will forward you a more in-depth insight of the grade level program and a lesson plan. Classes will begin in late October with a grade level parent meeting. The fee for this program is posted on our parish website. As always, for those experiencing hardship, there is no fee for this program, but you must register. Registration forms are posted on our parish website; loccc.org . We will be accepting registrations through the month of October. An overview of the program has been emailed to all families who are presently in our data base. If you did not receive an email, please contact Cathleen Smith at [email protected].
CANCELLING SATURDAY COMMUNION SERVICE
Due to COVID 19 we will be cancelled the Saturday Communion Service at St. Bridget at 9AM for the time being. We will consider the
situation after Labor Day.
RCIA You may have heard of “RCIA” and wondered what it was. This acronym stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. It is a program that prepares people to enter the Catholic Church. RCIA starts in the fall and culminates at the Easter Vigil where those who complete the program will receive the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. The RCIA candidates will learn the essentials of the faith principally through reading, presentations and videos. There will be time for prayer and discussion of how their spiritual lives are progressing as they learn more about Jesus and His Church. All such discussions are confidential. Some or all of this program may be conducted via Zoom due to the COVID-19 situation. In our collaborative, this same program is used to prepare those who have been baptized but have not received Communion or Confirmation to receive these two sacraments and come to full membership in the Catholic Church. If you feel a “pull” in your heart to join the Catholic Church or, if you are already baptized but feel a desire to participate more fully in the life of the Church, God may be calling you to RCIA. Please pray about this decision and, if you still feel that pull or call of if you just wish to learn more, please contact Deacon Jim McLaughlin at (781) 878-0900. This program can change your life forever.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Good Sunday to all, 8th grade graduation was held on August 28, a well-deserved congratulations to our Saint Bridget’s School families. In the upcoming weeks we have several first communions which are being held on Saturday because of capacity at Sunday masses. The first communions had to be postponed because of the pandemic. Many people are frustrated that we are not ‘fully opened’- well we are … we are following the guidelines of the state and the archdiocese. Someone recently told me of a nearby parish that you do not have to sign up for mass – people have always had the freedom to attend the church they want to attend. Over the summer the archdiocese had to temporarily close down some catholic churches that weren’t following the guidelines, as the current pastor I really don’t want that to happen here to be honest we can’t afford to have it happen. Most people coming to church appreciate all that we are doing to prevent the spread of Covid 19, and we continue to pray at every mass for families who have been affected by this disease. A thank you again to all those who support our church and to those that can watch on tv, and those who physically attend as well. The obligation to Mass is still suspended. I hope sometime this fall to have a member of our finance committee share where we are. Sadly, 19 Catholic schools have had to close many because of enrollment problems, we are very blessed our school is almost at full capacity. We are grateful to the principal and teachers and all in the administration of the school. Many have expressed a desire for more hours of adoration of the blessed sacrament at holy host and some have expressed concern over having it. I am awaiting information from the safety committee of the archdiocese of Boston. As I have stated many times, the guidelines are helping keep both parishes opened which is my goal here and we will be following them to keep everyone safe. In Christ Father Tom
Thank you to all our Parishioners that are registering for Masses. The Masses at Holy Ghost are currently reaching maximum capacity as we strive to maintain current social distancing requirements. If you are unable to register for Mass at Holy Ghost please, consider attending a Mass at St. Bridget. St. Bridget has a larger floor plan and a balcony that allows for up to 100 people with the social distancing guidelines. As a Collaborative Community we are blessed to have the additional worship space to accommodate our Parishioners. If you did not register for Mass and are told that we are full, please understand that everything we are doing is for your safety. If you can't register because the Mass is fully booked, maybe God is directing you to hear something being said at our other Collaborative Church. God guides us in all we do. Sometimes he is calling us to go outside our comfort zone so that he is able to have us where he is calling us to be present for him. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Peace and Thanks Deacon Paul

Our priests are often at the center of efforts that build
strong support systems for all of us. In addition to
their daily pastoral responsibilities, they help establish
social service organizations, offer spiritual support for first
responders, operate parish food pantries, and recently, in
response to the pandemic, put their lives at risk to provide
comfort and peace to those suffering with COVID-19.
Healthier priests build stronger communities. And the
Clergy Health and Retirement Trust (CHRT) is dedicated to
keeping our priests healthy.
This September, you can support the CHRT’s mission
by giving to the special collection at Masses on
September 19/20. Every gift makes a difference and is
a symbol of gratitude for all our priests who don’t just
observe need in our communities; they seek it out so
they can respond.
Donate now online at clergytrust.org or scan the QR code to give with Venmo, Apple/Google Pay, and PayPal via Givebutter.
