The Last Showof the
ShoppingTrolleygallery
A Mail Art Showorganized by
FLUXUS
EMANATIONS
At the beginning of my Mail Art activitiesan art display on my shopping trolley workedvery well for quite a while but then theartwork became more than what the ShoppingTrolley Gallery could carry in one go. In thephoto, taken during one of its rounds, thetrolley is displaying its maximum load.
The Last Show confirmed the inability of theSTG, and myself, to cope with the quantity ofArt received. For this show a hundred andforty artists sent pieces of art, mostly post-cards, and quite a few of them sent several.
It was necessary to make several group showswhich took over a year to display, in monthlyhangings.
All of the individual shows looked fantastic, thanks to the artists who worked very hard tomake it such a success. I am very touched thatso many friends supported my last show in theShopping Trolley Gallery.
Eventually the show was mounted on fourteenposters as shown in the photo above. These arenow archived in the Museum of Modern Art,Snailmail-on-Sea, in the United Queendom ofRetailia.
The Last Show, now encapsulated, was alsodisplayed at the front of the Tate Britain
on January 3,2009, during theField Study International meeting.

We paraded with the posters along the road.
Then off to lunch to a nearby pub.As usual we had great fun although wediscussed serious topics as well, like the endof an era in Mail Art.No, not the loss of the STG but of PresidentBush, a great problem for many of us for whomhe provided a wealth of opportunities forpolitical comment and jokes.
The ArtistsIn no particular order
All the artists that participated were sentdocumentation of the project including photos, the list of participants and this origamitrolley to make up, a signed limited edition.
