6 covenants1. Adamic: Avoid eating of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and you shall live.  

2. Noahic: God will not destroy earth again with a flood. 

3. Abrahamic: Many descendants. Promises a land for his seeds. All the nations will be blessed through him. God will bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him. 

4. Mosaic: A bilateral agreement with the 10 commandments and other laws were given on how to govern themselves in the Promised Land and how sacrifices are to be made to God to maintain their fellowship with God. There are blessings and curses. 

5. Davidic: God promised David that his descendants will have an everlasting kingdom.  

6. New covenant: New circumcision of the heart Pouring out of God’s Spirit into a believer. Jesus’ sacrifice for sins is perfect.

Which is the old covenant?Hebrew 8:7 – 10 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. 8 But God found fault with the people and said: “The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. 9It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts.

2. Abraham heard the gospelGalatians 6:8-98 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” 9 So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

– Chosen by grace (v5)

• Reconciliation of the Gentiles – Wild olive branch grafted in benefiting from the root which is holy (v17)

– Warning against arrogance to the Jews (v18)

– Warning to continue in His kindness and fear God (v22)

• Revival of the Jews–  Temporary hardening (v25)

–  Receive mercy  (v31) 

–  National revival (v26)

Going forwards • Restoration of the Land• Ezekiel 36:24 I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleanness, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. 28 You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Restoration of the Land• Joel 3:1–3 (ESV) • 1“For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, 

• 2I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land, 

• 3and have cast lots for my people, and have traded a boy for a prostitute, and have sold a girl for wine and have drunk it. 

Resounding praise to God• Faithful - God’s gifts and his call are 

irrevocable. v29

• Merciful – saved by grace and not by works  

v30 -32

• Unfathomable depth of riches of His 

wisdom and knowledge

• Unsearchable in His judgments and paths

• Reconcile everything back to Himself
