BUSINESS CHALLENGE HOW InfoTrellis HELPED

o Client had a home grown mainframe based customer master repository , which had to be replaced with an MDM solution based on IBM MDM Server 8.5

o Client’s MDM roadmap included a Customer 360 Portal, Consolidated Consumer-Vehicle data viewer ,Dealer-Vehicle data viewer and Central repository for call center information all required for enhanced customer service and more targeted cross/up selling

o The key challenges were to integrate the customer vehicle sales data and client’s consumer credit contract data in a single hub , de-duplicate and standardize the consumer data present across different source systems. Integrations with external systems such as NCOA were also required to be built

o Client has a multi-vendor outsourcing strategy and had engaged with some of the leading SI’s for their various software systems. However for their MDM program they engaged us over the other competitors as they viewed this program as a critical enterprise asset

o Architected, developed and executed ETL programs to perform initial and delta load of all existing customers from legacy application to MDM and delta load from MDM to downstream systems

o We also ran an MDM workshop where we trained client resources on advanced MDM Server concepts

ENVIRONMENT KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS

o Mainframe application to manage 140 M+ customer file

o DB2 on z/OS

o MDM Server 8.5

o The client had embarked on the path to Supply Chain 2020. Some of the key initiatives of this program were better product management, accurate product forecasting, analytics and streamlining the supply chain.

o On its way to becoming the world’s leading medical device manufacturer, the client had acquired various other medical device companies. The product information was flowing from various sources and in different formats. Given the wide and ever-expanding range of products, getting a single unified view of the product was a vital need for the client’s Supply chain 2020 program.

o InfoTrellis engaged with the client from the initial stages of the multi-phase program in performing various assessments across different lines of businesses and providing expert insights before implementing the MDM solution.

o Based on the Current state assessment, InfoTrellis defined the Program Strategy and Roadmap for the client.

o A solution was provided which involved a global Item repository that supports the Supply chain 2020 program. The IBM InfoSphere MDM Advanced Edition – Product domain, was chosen for this purpose.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE HOW InfoTrellis HELPED

o This client had several home grown applications built over multiple decades. The traditional application architecture in place was not helping the client in adapting to fast changing regulatory environment in its industry. A decision was made to move towards a service oriented architecture, that will enable the client to be more agile in meeting the fast changing requirements

o The business challenge was to identify key sources of member data, determine rules for de-duplication and standardization of member information and integrate them into a common hub. Further access to this single view of customer was to be provided via a set of composite services built on top of IBM’s MDM server solution

o A system to manage reference data pertaining to ICD codes was also needed

o Client had initially engaged another vendor to work on its MDM program, which eventually overshot its allotted budget. In order to avoid similar budget overruns and have more efficient deliveries in subsequent phases, the client gave us the mandate to take charge of their MDM program

o Our team put together a technical delivery roadmap, as well as an MDM program architecture integrating legacy systems with MDM Server which offered real time services based on the SOA framework

o We also designed and delivered a reference data management (RDM) solution, along with custom UI assets for managing ICD codes.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE HOW InfoTrellis HELPED

o This client has undertaken an enterprise customer data integration program in recognition of the data related issues in their current systems. Recognizing that Customer data is an enterprise asset, they realize that it is extremely important for them to have a consistent, comprehensive view of the customer by integrating customer data from 6 different source systems. They also had to comply with FATCA regulations which required substantial modifications to their current systems and daily operations.

o The business challenge was to identify and provide the solution architecture necessary to implement functionality needed in the MDM Server foundation project and setup a solid foundation for future implementation phases. A key requirement was also to enable FATCA compliance.

o Our team was invited by the client to replace a large SI who was already half-way into building the deliverables. Our team resolved critical design and performance issues, refactored the existing code-base while building new services.

o Our team designed and implemented a multithreading MDM Messaging Adapter that takes into account the sequencing of the messages ,significantly reducing the loss of critical information across multiple transactions.

o Our team defined the requirements and designed the features that will need to be implemented in the MDM Server to support the overall FATCA solution.

ENVIRONMENT KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS

o InfoSphere MDM Server 9.0

Case Study 05

Multinational Banking & Financial Service Corporation

BUSINESS CHALLENGE HOW InfoTrellis HELPED

o Over the past decade, the client had added a variety of financial products to its already diverse product portfolio through mergers and acquisitions. With such a large portfolio of products and product data flowing from different sources, there were significant concerns regarding data governance and product lifecycle management.

o The products were being managed manually using outdated systems and differing processes. There was an inherent need to automate product management and have standard processes to manage products efficiently.

o The business challenge was to identify the key sources of product information and integrate them into a common hub. Also, identify different product management processes and incorporating these processes into well defined workflows.

o InfoTrellis guided the client to determine the best approach to InfoSphere MDM Collaborative Edition based on overall corporate and program goals while keeping a majority of the existing systems intact.

o Our team directed and expressively contributed to most facets of the program including design, architecture, development and deployment activities.

ENVIRONMENT KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS

o DB2 on Linux

BUSINESS CHALLENGE HOW InfoTrellis HELPED

o The client was facing challenges managing their MDM environment as there was no internal knowledgebase developed during the implementation phase and as a result the client was unable to troubleshoot any issues.

o The Probabilistic Matching Engine (PME) was not configured appropriately for the dataset in the system which meant that the data steward organization spent a sizeable amount of time working “tasks” that could have been resolved automatically by the system.

o For the inbound/outbound integration with the MDM Hub, the previous vendor had deployed a proprietary broker setup without providing the client access to the code. As a result the client was unable to make any changes as new sources/attributes were added to the MDM Hub.

o InfoTrellis engaged with the client by performing a full assessment of the issues with the current configuration.

o The InfoTrellis team also interfaced with client’s data governance, integration and administrations teams to understand their issues and requirements.

o Based on that assessment, InfoTrellis developed a roadmap to address the issues in the current configuration as well as prepare the client for managing their MDM environment in the future.

o InfoTrellis setup several training workshops to educate the client on various aspects of the tool
