One more hour for fun!Daylight Saving Time is a surefire sign that

spring has to eventually come to Missouri. At 2a.m. local time on March 8, clocks "spring forward"one hour.

The amount of daylight hours will grow longerwhile the night time hours are shorter. So for thosewho prefer sleep - you are out of luck.

Daylight savings time was first used by Germanyduring World War I as a way to conserve energy. The

goal was to take advantage of the day-light hours in spring by moving an ad-ditional hour of daylight from themorning to the evening and not lettingpeople sleep through the first few hoursof sunshine. America didn't adopt a pol-icy until 1966, except for Arizona and

Hawaii. When your sleep-wake and light-dark cycles are out of

sync, it can make you feel tired and downright grumpy. In winter, I simply want to wrap up in a blanket and goto bed much earlier than normal. Maybe it’s my age. ButI, for one, will welcome the extra hour of evening day-light. Longer daylight hours allow for more choices ofplaces to go, things to do and people to see. This month,Indianapolis is the chosen city for St. Patrick’s Day activ-ities. See our feature of the month article on pages 6 and7. So let’s go paint the town “green” and then try someof the different offerings listed in this issue.

With a little bit of luck from the Irish, who knows? You just might find your pot o’ gold at the end of yourrainbow - a rewarding getaway weekend to the St. LouisReinnascance Fest in May. All you have to do is fill outthe FREE monthly getaway form on the home page ofour website.

And if you're not a fan of DST and the longer daysahead, you'll just have to wait until November 1. That'swhen we "fall back" one hour to regular time and talkabout those cozy winter nights in front of the fireplace, drinking hot chocolate or watching a good movie. Untilthen, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Fanimation has a two pronged approach inbringing product into the the market place.First are its original designs and secondlyreintroducing antique fans with modernsafety and control features; this approach hasplaced Fanimation in a league of its own, butas you might image, it’s the antique fans thatlead to a museum.

The Fanimation Antique FanMuseum contains more than 450antique ceiling and desk fans withover 140 manufactures repre-sented * The oldest electric deskfan in the museum dates from theearly 1890's * The oldest non-elec-tric fans (steam, belt & pulley or water pow-ered) dates from the early 1880's. movie stars. * The Museum is hosted by Fani-

mation, Inc. a premier ceiling anddesk fan manufacturer. TomFrampton an avid antique fan col-lector joined the Antique Fan Col-lectors Association (AFCA). The
