He successfully showed how clean the coal burned and how cheaply it could be used as a heating fuel. 1945 - During World War II, the Yalta Agreement was signed by U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet leader Josef Stalin. 1975 - Margaret Thatcher became the first woman to head a major party in Britain when she was elected leader of the Conservative Party. 1/7/15 Susan Simon-Spada HELP FEED THE HOMELESS On Saturday, February 21, 2015, the Rockaway Rotary Club will again assist in feeding the homeless at Homeless Solutions, 540 West Hanover Ave., Morristown, NJ. This project will start at 3:00 PM and continue until around 7:00 PM. We will be preparing dinner for roughly 60-75 people. All food will be purchased, prepared and served by Rockaway Rotarians. We need a maximum of 6 volunteers since the kitchen is small. If interested in helping with this project, please contact President Janice or sign-up at an upcoming club meeting. Information & Registration Forms Available on our Website SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT Todd Thompson from Camp Merry Heart was the speaker at our February 4th club meeting. Todd provided an overview of the camping and respite programs available during the year at the camp through Easter Seals of New Jersey. He gave an update on the plans for site improvements at the camp and other needs along with funding opportunities. The Rockaway Rotary Club, along with many other clubs from District 7470, has been actively involved with Camp Merry Heart for many years assisting with the construction and maintenance of camp facilities and student scholarships. “Offering Fun and Exciting Recreational Experiences for People of ALL Ages and ALL Levels of Ability Since 1954.”
