2What is a group ?
By Johnson & Johnson (2006)
A group may be defined as a number of individuals who join together to achieve a goal. People join groups to achieve goals that cannot be achieved by them alone.

o The social process by which people interact face-to-face in groups
o Group dynamics involves the influence of personality, power, and behavior on the group process
o It helps groups to work effectively.

Forming stage Group members get to know each other and reach common goals.
Storming stage Group members
disagree on direction and leadership.

consensus begin to develop between group members

The group begins to do its real work.

People-focused conflicts are based on emotions and feelings, and are more of a personal attack. Issue-focused conflicts are centered on issues and events, and are more representative of a calm negotiation.
